F/N's perspective
Well, so far my time at the Rose/Xiao long household has been..... well great overall. The day after I showed Yang and Ruby my powers, Zwei came back from the vet. That dog from what I've learned could probably single handedly beat my raptors through some quirky and knowable reason....
Anyway I've gotten to know the rest of the family pretty well, be it my conversations with Tai, sparing with Yang or geeking out with Ruby over weapons. It's been a great time, but like all great things it must come to an end as I found out that morning.
I was sitting on the couch munching on some bacon when Tai got a call on his scroll. The rest of the family sat around and did their own things.
Tai: "Oh hey Oz..... ya..... ok...... so when does he- got it. I'll let him know."
Yang: "What was that about?"
Tai: "Well I got news, F/N, you're going to Atlas."
F/N: "Finally, when do I leave? Week or two?"
Tai: "Tomorrow. Ozpin said you should fly Scales there starting tomorrow morning."
The mood in the room started to shift after what Tai said. Sure I knew I needed to get to Atlas, defeat the evil grimm king and all...... but I didn't expect to leave so abruptly. The same feeling could be felt by the others as Ruby and Yang looked saddened, Summer looking a little disappointed.
Tai seeing this from his family, put his scroll away and clapped his hands together, catching everyone's attention before he spoke.
Tai: "Well, seeing as this revelation has a few people down, why don't you all think of something you all can do before he leaves tomorrow."
Tai said with a smile that lifted our spirits a bit. Ruby thought about it for a minute before she clasped her hands together.
Ruby: "Oh! Want to watch a movie F/N!"
F/N: "Sure sounds lovely."
I said with a smile as I got up and went to put my dishes up, though Tai caught my shoulder and whispered to me.
Tai: "Can we have a talk later?"
I simply nod, the tone behind his words giving me an inclination on what he wished to speak about. He let my shoulder go as I went to put the dishes up. Though over the next decision Tai and Summer ended up having to go out and grab something's Ozpin wanted me to take with when I headed to Atlas, so they would be gone for a couple hours. Yang on the other hand went out to hang with some of her friends, which saddened me a bit before she gave a sly wink as she left.
Now that just left me, Ruby and Zwei with the house all to ourselves. Ruby at the moment was putting in the movie as I pulled the popcorn out of the microwave. I settled into the couch as Ruby plopped down next to me, remote in hand.
Ruby: "Ready?"
F/N: "Yup."
She smiled and played the movie, Zwei coming to join us after a bit, laying in Ruby's lap as we watched. The both of us taking handfuls of popcorn and munching on it. Overall the movie was quite enjoyable, plenty of action, some romance, not crappy dialogue. Though there were a few times when the two of us reached into the bowl at the same time and our hands touched. Which in almost movie like fashion we yanked them back, Ruby having slightly reddened cheeks due to embarrassment while I just tried to keep my cool. Though after a while the bowl was empty, the movie concluded, and the little rose ended up falling asleep, Zwei snoozing in her lap as her head rested against my shoulder.
Despite the slight awkwardness of the situation, I couldn't help but look at her sleeping peacefully. Her gentle breathing was calming in a way. I gently moved a bit of hair out of her face before smiling.
Though I quickly came to the conclusion....... I was stuck till she woke up. Trying to be sneaky, I tried to move, but that only resulted in a groan of protest from her. She just nuzzled into my shoulder a bit, getting comfortable again as I just sat there, internally screaming of how cute this was while also my predicament.
But I was saved as the front door opened, Tai and Summer walking through the front door. Upon their gazes falling on me, I couldn't help but mouth the words 'help me'.
Summer just held her hand over her mouth as she giggled. Tai just shook his head, a small smile on his face as he set down a box on the counter and walked over to me. Carefully he moved me out of the way, replacing me with a pillow. Ruby was none the wiser as she slept soundly. I let out a soft sigh as I looked at him.
F/N: "Thanks."
Tai: "Welcome."
I carefully moved away from the couch with Tai, sitting down at the table and handing me the box he had brought in, Summer heading to her room to change.
Tai: "This is what Ozpin wanted to give you."
I open it up, inside lay a small pennant, an empty slot lay in its center, the symbol of Beacon edged into the back. A few finely cut dust crystals sat in a small box of their own.
F/N: "What is it?"
Tai shrugged.
Tai: "Probably proof that Oz sent you..... but I don't know why the dust crystals?"
I gently took it out of the box holding it in my palm. Taking a hold of one of the dust crystals, the firey red one, I placed it inside the slot and I was surprised as I felt a surge of power go through my arm and a pop up appeared.
[Fire resistance achieved]
[Fire boost activated]
F/N: "Well..... that's useful."
Tai: "What does it do?"
F/N: "It gave a boost. This will be handy."
I put the dust crystals back into the little carrying case and put the whole thing and the pendant into my inventory.
F/N: "So, what did you want to know about Salem?"
Tai: ".....She was Ozpin's enemy for so long, now she's buddy buddy with him?"
F/N: "Far from buddy buddy..... but as one would say, the enemy of my enemy if my friend."
Tai: "Ya.....but, she doesn't look that powerful."
F/N: "Well..... I might have had a hand in that."
Tai: "How?"
F/N: "So, I have a skill that can purify..... so I used it on her. While she returned to being human, her control of the grimm was lost.... and a new Alpha was released."
Tai nods and looks down at his hands clasped on the table.
Tai: "And it's why you're going to Atlas?"
I just nodded a bit. Tai seemed to sense the sadness coming off me, cause I felt his hand be placed on my shoulder.
Tai: "You had good intentions and I think what happens, you'll help defeat that new alpha."
I smiled a bit and gave his hand a pat.
F/N: "Thanks."
Tai nodded as he pulled his hand back.
Tai: "Well, rest of the day is yours, spend it how you will."
F/N: "Will do."
He smiled and left to his room, probably to talk with his wife as I got up and walked outside. The breeze against my face felt nice. The cabin really was a nice place to escape the troubles of the rest of the world.
Though I was interrupted from my thoughts as I caught a pebble that was thrown at me. I looked at it unamused before turning my head to see Yang dressed up like she was going to a party. She gestured for me to come over, which I did.
F/N: "Was the pebble really needed?"
I said dropping it to the ground.
Yang: "Well it got your attention didn't it?"
I went to say something before realizing she had a point, so I switched topics.
F/N: "What's with the outfit?"
Yang: "Well, a couple friends of mine are going to a party, thought it would be fun if you tagged along."
F/N: ".......I don't have a choice do I?"
Yang smirked and grabbed my hand before pulling me over to her bike.
Yang: "Nope."
F/N: "Figures."
Timeskip
It was about dawn by the time we stopped in front of a large house on the opposite side of Patch. I shakily got off Bumblebee and leveled my breathing.
F/N: "How have you not gotten a ticket yet?"
Yang: ".......yes."
I facepalm as the two of us walked towards the house. The sound of loud music could faintly be heard from outside and only magnified tenfold as we made our way in. Though what I saw I mostly expected. People around our age doing what normal teens do at a party, a couple showing off tricks they could do with their semblances.... and lots of drinking.
I cringed a bit at the smell as Yang pulled me through the crowd to a group of three. One was a girl with black hair with green streaks going through it, about Yang's height. Another had brown with orange streaks, and last was a guy with a pair of ram horns sticking out of the sides of his head.
Yang: "Hey guys!"
Guy: "Hey Yang! Oh that the guy you were talking about?"
Yang: "Yup, this is F/N. F/N, these are my friends."
F/N: "Um, hi."
I was a little unsure, since I had no idea who any of these people were.
Ramsey: "Oh, manners, names Ramsey, the girl with the black hair is Monica, and the tipsy one is Lucy."
Lucy: "I'm not tipsy!"
She said, her speech a little slurred, a red plastic cup in hand. Ramsey just face palmed.
Ramsey: "Well, good to meet you F/N."
F/N: "Same."
We shook hands before Ramsey looked over with a sour look in his eyes.
Ramsey: "Yang. Six o'clock, Brad's here."
I glanced over at Yang who seemed to be a bit annoyed at the mention of the name. Taking a look, I clearly figured out who he was by how all the girls seemed to be trying to get his attention.
F/N: "Let me guess, thinks he's a hot piece of shit but is actually actual shit."
Monica: "Pretty much, but let's not focus on him for now, we'll deal with him if he comes over."
Yang: "Ya.... now let's get wasted."
Yang's friends: "Yay!"
F/N: "Woooo."
I said a little less enthusiastic and so we started drinking. The others getting tipsy while I was completely fine, considering my poison resistance just left me a little buzzed. Though as the party went on, things got more crazy. Spin the bottle, drunk games, all that lovely jazz, which I was able to avoid because of a single fact....... I got recognized.
So at the current I was doing little party tricks with some of my illusion spells, which is what the drunk teens took as my semblance. There were selfies and a few avoided kiss's from drunk girls trying to get me. Though I kept my somewhat intoxicated mind focused on Yang, I'd been watching for most of the night as that Brad guy tried to hit on her, which only resulted in her walking off, each attempt more bold then the last. Though it soon became evident that her friends were out of the picture, seeing as they were passed out on the couch, Brad moved onto her again, but this time I stepped in.
Brad: "Come on Yang, it'll be fun."
Yang: "I already told you Brad to fuck off."
Brad just smirked and went to grope her ass but I grabbed his hand.
F/N: "She said to fuck off man, so why don't you go."
Brad: "Huh, you think cause your tv famous you can push me around pipsqueak?"
F/N: "No, I think I can push you around cause your nothing but dumb muscle."
He glared at me, freeing his hand and backing up a bit.
Brad: "Hey look everyone! Pipsqueak here thinks he's tough! Why don't we see what happens when you mess with Brad Jackson!"
Some of the other people cheered, others booed, and one guy threw up into a trash can.
Yang: "F/N, let's just go."
F/N: "Ya, probably for the best."
I gently grabbed Yang's arm and went to leave before Brad said something that made me freeze in place.
Brad: "Oh look! He's trying to get away with blondie! You know she's only gotten so far because of her tits!"
Some people started laughing. Yang though even in her slightly tipsy state looked down, a few tears started to well in her eyes. I looked at her, seeing her like that, because of what he said...... made me feel something in my chest.
I let go of Yang's arm and turned around, taking a few steps towards him.
F/N: "Oh you just had to say that didn't you, come on then."
I crack my knuckles and bring my fists up.
F/N: "Show me what you got bitch boy."
Bard looked at me with anger in his eyes before activating his semblance, his muscles budging to twice their original size.
People started to back up, preparing for what they thought would be a beating, though they were wrong on who was going to be beat. As I got into a stance, Brad charged like a bull, arms held out to grapple me.
When he was close enough, I moved to the side, sticking my leg out, tripping him in the process, his eyes widened when he started to fall. Though I wasn't done yet as I grabbed his flailing arm, pinned it to his back and forced him down with some extra strength.
Everyone just watched as the strongest guy on Patch was taken to the ground, completely pinned down by someone who didn't look that strong. Brad did his best to try and get out of his position, but I just elbowed him in the back of the neck with enough force to break his aura and knock him out.
F/N: "Told you, nothing but a bitch boy.... now anyone else got any comments to make!"
I yelled out, getting up from the floor and gazing over the group, most just shook their heads. I took that as a good sign, Yang looking at me in a bit of shock before I took her wrist and we headed out.....
It was a long drive back to the cabin, Yang being in the state that she was in, held onto me as I drove her bike home. It was quiet beside the sound of the wind whipping past, the two of us having nothing to say. It was like till we got back to the cabin.
We entered through the back door and headed up to her room, not waking any of the others. And so, we walked into the room, Yang taking off her jacket and throwing it aside, I could see how red her eyes were, but it wasn't her irises. Yang sat on her bed, putting her head in her hands. I knew she was intoxicated, but that only tended to bring out one's most kept secrets. So I sat beside her, Yang not registering my presence until I put a gentle hand on her shoulder.
F/N: "You know what he said wasn't true."
Yang: ".......... but what-
F/N: "No buts."
Yang lifted her head a bit, looking at me out of the corner of her eye. I just gave her a warm smile before speaking.
F/N: "Yang, your more than your appearance. You're strong and kind and you kick ass. You have a spirit of a fight lion and then some."
Yang: "Really?"
I nodded.
F/N: "Ya, Yang you more than deserve to be where you stand now, don't let others get into your head. Cause their opinions don't matter, it's your choice, not theirs."
Yang chuckled softly before moving a bit, wrapping her arms around my torso. She laid her head on my shoulder, I just gently wrapped my free arm around her waist. We sat like that for a bit, Yang slowly letting my words sink in.
Yang: ".......thank you."
F/N: "Your welcome sunshine."
She giggled a bit, pulling back to wipe some tears from her eyes.
Yang: "Sunshine, really?"
F/N: "What, I think it's great."
She rolled her eyes a bit before giving me a gentle smile.
Yang: "I know we didn't stay for the whole thing..... but."
Yang reached under her bed and pulled out a bottle of whiskey.
Yang: "I snuck this from my uncle's room, be nice to share it."
F/N: "Ya, that be nice."
And so, we spent the rest of the night sharing that bottle of whiskey, talking to each other about things. But boy did I not expect what I would find out the next morning.
