The heavy snow makes it hard for Bucky's family carriage to reach the huge castle.
The youngest son, Steven is getting married to one of the princesses, Natalia.
While Steve has been excited all year, Bucky has been dreading this day since he found out. Not for his brother, no, he couldn't be happier that he gets to marry the girl he truly loves. But he dreads something else, rather someone else, you.
You and Bucky have been steady for a while, sneaking around the palace when nobody is looking, starting off as great friends but ending in something more.
He gazes out of the window with a sour look on his face whenever he remembers the fight he and his parents had before they left.
Steve on the other hand is an excited puppy and how could he not be?. It's not fair to Steve to be so grumpy and Bucky knows that, but the closer they get to the palace, the more Bucky sinks in his seat.
'We're here!' His mother sing songs as she steps out of the carriage followed by their father.
Steve happily follows while Bucky stays behind a little longer. He sees you playing with your little siblings in the garden, throwing snowballs at each other.
'I'm gonna get you!' A 9 year old Wanda yells as she throws the snowball towards you.
'No you're not!' You chirp making Bucky smile a bit. He really did miss you.
'Then I will!' A 7 year old Peter yells as he throws another one at you, hitting you right in the stomach.
You wouldn't be able to feel a thing because of the many layers of your dress of course, but you act hurt. You dramatically fall down and it makes Bucky bark out a laugh before he exits the carriage.
He doesn't want to ruin the mood now, so he decides it's best to leave whatever he was about to say to you.
'Oh no!' Peter shrieks, thinking that you're actually hurt.
He comes close and you catch him, rolling him around in the snow while he squeals.
'I'll help you Peter!' Pietro yells as he rushes to his little brothers aid.
You scream out when you feel the cold snow on your chest. 'Stop!' You laugh as you gently push Peter off.
'Need a little help?' Bucky asks as he grabs a handful of snow just as you crawl up.
'Don't you dare James..' you warm him but the smirk on his face tells you he won't listen anyway.
You slowly lift your cloak and step back just as he throws. You lean down and grab a handful of snow and throw it his way.
'This isn't fair!'
'I'll be on your side y/n!' Wanda runs over to you and you shield her underneath your large cloak.
This goes on for a while until the kids get tired and get called inside. You and Bucky on the other hand continue on.
You bow down to grab another hand of snow but you lose balance, as you try to regain your posture, you latch onto Bucky, making him fall right with you.
You both end up on the ground with a loud thud. You giggle as you open your eyes to look right into his.
'Well Hello...' You coo and his eyes wrinkle.
'Good afternoon to you to my lady...' he replies as he crawls off of you and helps you to your feet.
You immediately wrap your arms around him to give him a big hug. He wraps his own arms around you and lifts you off of your feet. You squeal in surprise before he puts you down.
'I've missed you...' you gently caress his cheek.
'I've missed you too...'
A flash of sorrow fills his baby blues And you frown.
'What's the matter?' You softly ask.
'Nothing princess...' he looks around to see the courtyard and the garden empty, he takes the opportunity to place his lips on yours.
Maybe for the last time..

You hear giggling coming from the hall across your room . After a while you've gotten curious, what could your two sisters possibly find this funny?
You stroll down the hall and come up right behind them. You tap on their shoulders making them yell out. They turn around and you catch a glimpse of the men standing in the courtyard.
'So we've come to spying now have we..' you chuckle at their guilty faces.
'Oh well now that you've caught us, you can watch with us... Anthony, Steven and James are currently practising!' Pepper chirps as she pulls you to the large window.
'You shouldn't be spying on them Pepper... that's not very ladylike...'
Being the oldest of the many siblings isn't always easy, meaning that you've always had to watch over them, teach them some valuable manners...
'Neither is sneaking around the palace with James...' she coos.
'What?, I don't know what you are talking about...' you stutter most of that sentence.
'You are perfect for each other... don't worry, we won't tell a soul...we promise...' Natalia smiles and Pepper nods in agreement.
'You're got it easy Natalia, you are getting married tomorrow...'
'Your day will come...' Pepper wraps her arm around you.
'I'm sure it will..' you sigh.
'Buck you should tell her...'
'And then what?, she will hate me forever even if it's not my own choice... I don't want to ruin your day with Natalia, for no one...' Bucky sighs.
'But leading her on like this?' Tony comments. 'That's not fair to her either...'
'I've tried everything's already... had a huge fight about it with mother and father... I don't know what to do anymore...'
'You really love her don't you?' Tony asks and Bucky nods.
'I'm sure she will understand if you just explain it to her...' Steve suggests.
Bucky looks up to the large window and sees three figures ducking down to avoid getting caught. A small smile plays on his lips, but it's not a lasting one.

Bucky is sitting uneasy in his chair, opposite of yours. You smile at him the whole time, you try to make him smile but nothing seems to work.
He's just pushing his food around the plate with a stoic face. It makes you frown, did you do something wrong?
Before you can even ask him what is wrong, his father speaks up, and of course everyone listens. Everyone is silent and looking at George Barnes.
'We have an exciting announcement to make!'
'Well let us hear it then!' Your father chuckles.
'Our oldest son is finally getting married!'
Your head shoots up to meet Bucky's gaze, his eyes widening at his fathers statement. ' Father now is not the time-'
'Nonsense!' Your own father beams with a bright smile while your mother's gaze is locked on you.
She might've not caught you and Bucky but she's not stupid enough to not see something is blooming between you.
'Tell me more!'
'Ivan..' your mother warns him.
'We have finally found a girl that is willing to combine the kingdoms...'
'If only my own daughter was that wise, I guess she will always be the bridesmaid, never the bride..' he comments and you look down.
You bite your lip to prevent any tears from falling.
'Ivan!, that is your daughter you are talking about!, can't you see you're hurting her feelings?' Your mother sternly says.
'I uh... I'm not hungry... excuse me...' you push your chair back before walking out as calmly as possible.
Once you're out of sight, you rush around the castle. Once you reached your bedroom door, you quickly get in before closing it behind you. You're overwhelmed by the words they spoke, different emotions try to take their hold on you.
You let yourself fall face first on your bed and you cry into your pillow. You don't hear your door opening and closing. So you startle when you feel two pair of hands on your back.
'Its us y/n...' Pepper whispers.
She immediately wraps her arms around you. She lets you cry onto her shoulder while Natalia soothes you by rubbing a hand over your back.
'This is so unfair...what have I done to deserve this?'
'Nothing!, Y/n!, you haven't done anything wrong!' Pepper defensively speaks.
'Father was right... always the bridesmaid and never the bride... clearly nobody wants me..'
'That's not true y/n, there is someone out there who loves you-'
'You've got easy talk!, you're getting married tomorrow to the love of your life!' You snap at her and she flinched.
'I'm sorry Nat...I didn't mean it...' you apologise right away and she takes your hand in hers while she shakes her head.
'Its alright... you need to let it all out...' now it's her turn to wrap her arms around you.
'I just don't understand.. doesn't he love me?, am I not good enough?'
'I wouldn't know about the love part but y/n.. you will always be good enough.. never think so little of yourself..' Pepper comments.
'He kissed me this afternoon...' you confess and they both gasp. 'I thought that meant something... and even after that he seemed troubled... I asked what was wrong and he told me everything was fine...'
And while you were being comforted by your sisters, the dining hall is tense.
'How could you...' Bucky seethes at his father.
'How could I what?' George replies innocently.
'You knew that would hurt her and you did it anyway, it's bad enough that you're forcing me to marry someone else!, I wanted to explain it to her myself so this wouldn't happen!'
'Don't you raise your voice at me James!'
'I love her!, why is that so hard for you to understand?, I don't want to marry that other girl, I want to marry Y/n'
'What?' Ivan, your father asks.
'Yes.. I admit it... I love your daughter... I have all my life and will forever do so...' Bucky turns to his father. 'And if that makes me unfit to rule then I don't want the throne..'
'This is outrageous!, you sit down now!'
'I'm going after her wether you like it or not...' he replies before walking away.
He rushes through the castle, asking every living being where to find you, eventually running into Pepper and Natalia. He doesn't even have to ask.
'She's in the gardens..' Pepper says and Bucky nods. He bolts for the doors and rushes outside.
The thick layer of fresh snow cracks under his feet, the darkness makes it hard to see, the lights in the garden aren't really helping.
And then he spots you, sitting on the stone bench in the middle of white roses. Your favourite flowers.
Even though you're softly crying, you can still hear footsteps approach you. You know whose they are. You always had the ability to yell who someone was by their footsteps.
'Y/n.. I want to explain..'
'Why didn't you tell me?' Your hoarse voice breaks his heart a little more.
'I didn't want to ruin... this...' he lets out a sigh.
'Its ruined now anyway...' you mutter as he sits down next to you.
'My father is forcing me to marry this girl far away... and I did everything I could to prevent it... I swear... y/n...' he tries to reach for your hand but you pull it away.
'And I would've understood if you would've just told me as soon as you got here.. before you kissed me.. I wouldn't have been happy but it wouldn't have come as a knife to the gut either...'
'Y/n I never wanted any of this to happen!'
'But it did!' You shut him up as you angrily stand up. Your fists are clenched and angry tears roll down your face.
'You should've told me when you got out of the carriage, you should've told me sooner!, my sister is getting married tomorrow and I have to watch her get her way, marrying the man she loves... and I have to deal with the fact that you not only lied to me, but you're going to marry someone else...'
'Do you think I'm okay with this?!, I too have to watch my little brother get married to the love of his life while I'm being denied mine!' He is equally as angry as you are, clenching his own fist and tightening his jaw while he stares into your soul, or at least that's what it feels like.
All you can hear is his ragged breathing and your own. Both your chests are heaving. Neither of you want this, you've never even fought like this before.
He suddenly reaches forward, his arm wrapping around your waist and tugging you against his chest while his lips crash against yours in a rough manner.
He eventually breaks off the kiss to breathe, he doesn't lean back for his forehead is against your. Your noses faintly touch. His breath fans over your mouth, with your eyes closed, you can feel so much more.
'I'm sorry... I really am... I love you and I want you to be mine...but my fathers mind is made up...'
'Its not your fault...'

'Look at them George...' Winnifred says as she looks at her son staring out of the window, standing a couple feet away from you looking over the crowd.
You're leaving so much room, and you haven't even spoken let alone looked at each other. She can clearly see the fake smile you hold for your siblings.
'Not this again Winnifred...' he sighs.
'Look at your son George!, he is miserable, he has been ever since you told him... but now he's borderline depressed... can't you see how much he loves the girl?'
'And what would you like me to do?'
'Stop the wedding for our son and let him be happy with Princess Y/n... it's not fair to the girl either, she will have to deal with James sulking, you know he will sulk...'
'Winnifred, we already have a son married to their family, we do not need another...'
'What do you think happens when James because king?, you know he will turn as cold as your father... you have to break the cycle and let your son be happy.. didn't you see them last night?'
'Of course I did... the whole bloody family saw, both sides...'
'And the outburst at dinner... that certainly showed how much he loves her...' Winnifred continues. 'He is willing to let go of the throne to go after her... he sounds like a certain someone..' She coos, smirking when she sees the conflict on her husbands face.
'You stand here and think... I need to talk to her...' she walks away towards you.
You quickly wipe away a tear when you see Winnifred walk up to you. You pinch your dress and courtesy. 'Your majesty...'
She gives you an apologetic smile before glancing at her son.
'Ive noticed you two haven't exactly interacted...' she comments and you nod.
'We uh... we don't want to make it harder than it already is...I am sure you've heard by now...'
'Yes, but both me and your mother.. we already had our suspicions... I am really sorry my dear...'
You swallow the lump in your throat while you feel tears welling in your eyes again.
'I have tried to convince my husband-'
'It's alright-'
'No it isn't...' George joins his wife's side, dragging a very moody Bucky with him.
You quickly avert your eyes from him before he looks up.
'Winnifred here made some valid points... and to be honest, we're not getting any younger...James, you will be a good king... but not if I won't let you have what I do right now... a loving wife..so if you really wish to marry her instead of the other princess, I won't stand in your way...'
Bucky's eyes widen at his fathers words again, but this time around it is because he can't believe that his father has come around.
You're frozen in your spot at the moment. You don't know how to process his words. You said goodbye last night and now... you're in shock.
'Y/n dear...' Winnifred asks.
Your mother and father join you and your mother grabs your hand.
'Y/n?, honey?' She asks.
Your head slowly turns to Bucky's and a smile spreads before you pull yourself out of your mothers grip and leap right into Bucky's arms.
'Marry me?' Bucky breathes when you finally look him in the eyes.
'Is that even a question?, yes!' You chuckle happily.
'What is all the commotion about here?' Natalia asks with Steve by her side.
'Is everyone going to join us?' Your mother complains and you chuckle.
'As it turns out, my father has come to his senses and we will be husband and wife...' Bucky explains and Natalia squeals in joy.
'We have to tell everyone!' She drags Steve with her and you try to stop her.
'No no no, please don't-'
'She's not listening...' Bucky comments.
'Well Thats New...' your sarcasm makes Bucky's eyes wrinkle.
'Enjoy...' your parents walk off with Bucky's following them.
'You uh.. you look beautiful...'
'You don't look bad yourself...' you reply.
'Send like luck is still on our side...'
'Seems like it...'
