nini took her bag and keys, making sure to not forget ricky's present before heading out of her apartment
he texted nini to tell her that he was finished with filming for the day, so they were going to meet at a park a few blocks away from her apartment.
as she arrives to the park, she notices ricky inside his car on his phone
she walks over to his window and knocks on it, making him jump as he looks to the right to see nini smiling at him
he returns the gesture and she enters the car, feeling a tight stillness inside
"hey-"
"so, you saw ej?" he asks
nini looks at him for a few seconds, opening her mouth "i-i was going to tell you-"
"did he hurt you?"
"no- we just talked." she assures him
ricky sighs and looks in front of him "okay."
"ricky, i know how you feel about ej, but i promise that i think he's changed." she explains "he has a girlfriend now, and-"
"neens, i said it's fine." he says as he takes her hand, looking at her "as long as he doesn't try anything on you."
nini smiles at him "he won't. i really think he's happy now, and i'm perfectly happy with you."
he gives her a quick kiss before beginning to drive his way through the roads
after a few minutes of driving in a comfortable silence, nini notices that ricky didn't turn to where the usual restaurants are
"where are we going?" she asks in confusion
the boy smiles as he turns his head to face her "i want to show you something. and i have a surprise."
nini raises an eyebrow "what is it?"
he laughs "it wouldn't be a surprise if i told you neens."
she playfully rolls her eyes and nods, returning her attention to the scenery passing through the window
minutes of driving passed and nini still wasn't sure where they were.
mostly because they were now at the point where it was trees everywhere and an empty road ahead
"are you taking me somewhere to kill me?" nini asks playfully
ricky laughs "you watch too many documentaries."
she groans "ricky please just tell me!"
he smiles and turns his head to face her "no."
nini exhales loudly and slumps down in her seat, looking out the window as she wonders where he could be taking her
soon enough, he pulls over on a large land of green trees surrounding them
"where-"
he opens the door quickly and runs around to the other side, opening her door as he holds his hand out
nini hesitantly takes it and he leads her around to the back of the vehicle, opening the trunk where she gasps in awe
he had put the seats down with a mattress on top and multiple blankets and pillows with little lights surrounding the sides where they wouldn't be seen from a long way
further into the car, he had hidden bags of foods and snacks that were their favorite to share with his laptop.
"ricky," she breathes as he starts setting everything up
"you like it?" he asks hopeful
"it's amazing!" she laughs as she wraps her arms around his neck and kisses him on the lips
he smiles when they pull away and start to settle themselves comfortably
"i told you, i take these anniversary stuff seriously." he says with a smirk "i'm sorry about it being late-"
"no. it's perfect. i love you." she beams
"i love you too."
the two start setting up the pillows for them to lie back on and put the snacks beside them as ricky opens his laptop
"okay, what-"
"coco!" she exclaims
ricky glares at her and she giggles
"you need to get over the fear-"
"it's not a fear! i just think it's weird when they make a little boy visit the afterlife!" he defends
she shakes her head with a smile as they continue scrolling through the different movies
nini starts looking through the bags and squeals, making ricky jump, when she sees a large packet of chocolate twirls
she takes the bag out with a giddy smile, making ricky shake his head as a laugh escapes him
"you're obsessed with those-"
"i'm in love with these! they're so good!" she exclaims before gasping "did you get any-"
ricky takes a bag of dill-pickle chips, showing it to her with a smirk as nini takes it
"and this is why we're dating." she smiles
he nods in agreement as they both settle themselves in each other's arms, sharing the food as they talk and laugh about the movies
many many different disney movies passed and they were now lying in the hood of ricky's car, blankets over themselves as they lay in each other's arms and watching the sprinkles of stars in the night-sky
"i want to stay like this forever," nini mumbles as she cuddles herself closer to ricky
he smiles to himself as he rubs his hand up and down her arm "me too."
they look at each other and lean in to share a sweet, gentle kiss.
suddenly, the girl pulls away in realization
"what?" ricky asks worried
nini smiles excitedly as she takes the little bag that she took in the hood of the car with her, handing it to him
he looks at her and she nods happily, ricky shaking his head with a small laugh
it gave him so many flashbacks to the multiple times they would exchange gifts. the excitement and genuine smiles and thankful love they would give into their gifts were something the two of them shared and they always looked forward to it.
he opens the box and his jaw drops as he looks at the girl in front of him
"a loop pedal?!" he exclaims
nini nods "you always said how you wanted to record your own music at home-"
"neens." he breathes as he shakes his head
she smiles to herself before feeling him kiss her on the cheek
"i love it. thank you."
"no problem."
"well, my present isn't as good-"
"i want to see which charm you got this time!" she exclaims excitedly as she jumps up in her seat
ricky laughs as he pulls out a small box from his bag and hands it to her
she squeals quietly and opens the box, her eyes lighting up as she sees the little heart charm held inside
she carefully picks it out of the box and holds it up for her to read what was written on it
everything with you feels right
"i love it." she says ever so quietly
the charm was beautifully jeweled with the smallest pink diamonds engraved on the sides. it wasn't overpowering the silver effect of the charm either
ricky helped her put the charm on her bracelet and once it was clipped on, she shook her bracelet around to see all of the charms that recorded a special moment in her and ricky's relationship.
she looked up at the boy in front of her with adoration. so much love she had for this boy, it was insane. so much love that she wanted to keep safe
