Everyone was there. As always, or at least like last time, Gally was the first one to "welcome" the new guy. I still couldn't believe that a month had passed since I came here. A month since the first girl arrived in the Glade. Flashbacks from my first day came back when suddenly
"WE'VE GOT A RUNNER!" Zart yelled and I noticed that the new guy had already started running straight to the maze's gates. I and everyone basically, apart from the runners who had went inside the maze hours ago, started running after him. I came closer and closer to him when...he tripped? He just tripped!
'Man be thankful this is not a horror movie'
"Oh god are you alright?" I said and offered him a hand. He looked at me. He was beautiful. He had this big brown puppy eyes, short brown hair and I don't know why but his nose seemed adorable to me. He looked at my hand, then me and back at my hand.He was obviously scared. I smiled sweetly.
"I promise I won't hurt you." I tried to reassure him.He raised his hand and moved it closer to mine. Our hands had almost touched when Gally, Jack and Michael forced him up and dragged him violently to the slammers. The new guy tried to free himself with all his remaining powers, but deep inside both me and he knew it was pointless.I kept my gaze no the Greenie when Newt put his hand on my shoulder.
"Don't worry he'll be fine. He will stay in the slammers for a few hours and then Alby will go talk to him." He informed me.
"Yeah it's fine...I don't actually care that much." I said as indifferently as I could at the moment. Newt raised an eyebrow. "What?" I asked him obviously confused.
"Well..." He hesitated and I understood what would follow. "It's just that-"
"I really don't Newt!" I said a bit louder than i inteded. "It is just that...he just...seems so familiar. That's all." I tried to rationalize myself.
"Uh-huh..."He said with a mistrustful tone and left disappointed and unfortunately I couldn't blame him. I was a bit curt.
'but I didn't lie. He did seem familiar. But from where? My past life? And if yes what was he to me in my past life?'
"(Y/N)" Jeff called for me. "Are you coming?" he asked me.
"Yes!" I answerd immediately and started heading off to the Med-Jacks forgetting all the questions I had about the new guy.
Thoma's P.O.V. :
I was sitting on the ground inside some kind of cage.
'Where the heck am I? Why am I here and who were those boys and this girl...the girl. Why did she look so familiar?'
So many thoughts and theories running round my head.So many questions that needed to be answered. Who was I and what was I doing there. I stayed in this prison for what seemed like hours, waiting for something to happen, someone to come. And then I heard some footsteps. Someone was coming for me. He was getting closer and closer.
"If I open this door do you promise to stay calm?" A dark-skinned boy said leaning on the ''Prison's'' gate. He was pretty fit and his face was serious.He as waiting for my response. I just nodded. He opened the door but didn't let me out.
"My name is Alby.Do you know anything about who you are?" I didn't remember anything. Not even my name. I shook my head negatively.
"What is this place?" I asked him. I needed answers and I needed them now. As if he was waiting for this question the guy leaned closer and offered me his hand.
" I can show you." He said and waited for me to take it. I did and he pulled me out of this pit. We walked and walked further and further away from the pit I was in a few moments ago. He headed to some kind of tower. When we arrived he started going up a ladder leading to its top.
"Hope you are not afraid of heights" He joked and montioned me to follow him up. When we arrived at the very top we sat down. He started explaining some stuff that I didn't bother listen. These giant walls had my absolute attention.
"What's out there?" I asked and pointed at the wall's openings. His face stiffed.
"Three rules." He started with a stoic look. "Rule number1 Do your part, as I said before you will be assigned a job you must do everyday, number2 Never hurt another Glader but most importantly rule number3 never and I repeat never go beyond these walls." After that we both got up, went down the ladder and started walking around again introducing me to this whole new place.
He kept talking about this place which I learned is called Glade and about how things work here. He started talking about the box and another guy ''joined'' the conversation.
"Greenie meet Newt" Alby introduced me "He is in charge when I'm not around." He finished. Newt started talking. He had this british accent which I wasn't used to but I tried to keep up with what he was saying. He said something about a runner and then he mentioned my fall. Alby laughed at his comment but I didn't care about it. The word runner repeated itself in my head.
"Runner? Wha-" I was about to ask but Alby didn't pay attention. Instead he turned to Newt and asked him to find someone named Chuck. Then he turned back to me.
"Look I'm sorry to rush this but..." Wait was he gonna just ignore the fact that I was about to ask him something? In the end I didn't try to bring it up again.After a few minutes this Chuck guy- well.. kid arrived and Alby introduced me to him.He looked like what 14?! What was he doing here? He seemed nice. He told me a few things about him ,like his job, and we went off to set my hammock.
"It's basically the same for all of us" He stated and tighened the ropes. "We wake up, Alby gives us a tour, and here we are...Don't worry you are doing better than I did...I peed my pants three times before they got me out of the pit" He finished but I was already gone. I was really curious about the walls and what was beyond them. I walked near them completely ignoring Chuck's voice calling me until he reached me.
"Where are you going?"He asked a bit anxious.
"I just want to take a look." I answered.
"You can go wherever you want, just not beyonf THESE!"
"Why? Why not?" I asked and finally turned to look at him.
"I don't know but what I do know is what I'm told..." He paused. He was frustrated. "I'm not supposed to leave." By that time I had stopped walking. I didn't like the fact that I had made him frustrated, especially since he had been nice all along. I kept looking at the gap and spotted two boys coming out running.
"Hey Chuck" One said.
"New Greenie huh? Has he been a good boy so far?" He joked.
"He's been nice" Chuck laughed. The boys kept jogging and when they were almost out of sight I asked.
"Wait didn't you say we are not supposed to leave?"
" I said WE are not allowed to leave.They are different, they are runners." He said
Runner...what does that remind me of...isn't that what Newt said about me?
"That's what they do they run the maze every day and-!"
Wait what did he just say?
"Did you say maze?"
"I-I did?" He answered as if he had done something stupid. Okay that was it I am going in. I walked fast to the gap. Closer and closer at the point that I could see the vines hanging on the walls, the mold, I could almost smell it the cold stone I couls almost touch it-
"HEY!" A voice was heard and I felt a pair of hands grabbing my waist and throwing me to the ground.I landed on my back. I looked up and saw a guy with weird eyebrows looking down at me.
"We need to stop meeting like this Greenie." He said with a mocking tone that I didn't like at all, then I snapped.
"Get off me!" I said and kicked him. I got up and like it was something a crazy person would do the eyebrows guy started telling me to calm down. Soon all the boys heard us and came running, among them Alby and Newt. "What the hell is wrong with you guys!?" I asked a bit angrier than I meant to.
"Calm down ok?" Newt said. What the heck was wrong with them I didn't even touch the walls and a boy attacked meand now this! Now I had to ask.
'Why won't you tell me what's out there?"
"It's for your own protection." Alby said.
'Is he for real?'
"YOU PEOPLE CAN'T KEEP ME HERE!" A that point I was furious.
"Yeah but we can't let you leave." Alby tried to pacify me.
"Why not?"I asked. The need to know had taken over me. I needed to know. Silence followed. Everyone's eyes were on me and Alby when suddenly a continual, bothering noise started like a stone was trying to move.The boys weren't looking at Alby anymore, just me, like I was the source of the noise. And then it hit me. They weren't looking at me. They were looking behind me. I turned my head to face the walls. The-They were moving! What the heck! I hadn't realizedI was staring at the (apparently) doors until I heard Alby's voice.
"Welcome to the glade"
