short chapter warning!

_____

At first Jimin thought it was a wall.

But once he squinted enough, he could see that it wasn't a wall, but in fact, a barrier made out of people. Demons and most possibly Seelies too.

At the sight, Jimin wanted to cower down, because he had never seen such and army before- and never believe that he would be the one facing such an army.

Right in front of the said army, was the Demon King himself, Ajax.

And something about the sight of him holding himself up so smugly had Jimin's confidence returning.

But of course, he was still insignificant. A tiny ant compared to all that Ajax had rounded up to kill angels. Jimin was alone. And alone, he might have as well as signed a death warrant.

Everything was silent, even the Nyx itself that surround the ground. The tension was so thick, Jimin could actually cut it with a knife.

And then, Ajax laughed.

It wasn't pleasant, it was a grating sound. One so loud and yet so horrendous that Jimin wasn't sure if it was even possible for one man to produce something like that.

"This is all you have against me?" the Demon King sneered, voice full of acid. "Just your pathetic self, little angel? And you hope to duel my entire army?" he cackled again, and Jimin winced. He couldn't help but feel so small. But he tried to shake himself out of it. He couldn't let Ajax dominate him. Never again.

"You should have let yourself die away, little angel" the man growled. "I gave you the option of dying away peacefully and yet you choose this? Commendable, but undeniably stupid of you"

Jimin said nothing, just standing there without a comment because ultimately what was he supposed to say?

Ajax shook his head ruefully. "I expected something much more...durable. Something to feast my eyes upon" he gave Jimin a nasty look as if he were nothing but a speck of dust. "But look at what I got"

"You should stop what you're doing" Jimin finally shouted and guaranteed, he might have looked like a pathetic sight with his worn out clothes and a voice pitched higher than Ajax's, but he stood his ground, fists clenched by his sides.

Ajax threw his head back and laughed loudly.

"Or what, little angel? Will you beat me up?" he cracked up again, as if the thought was too amusing to bear. "Really, Jimin. Do you think you have a chance against me? Against this?" Ajax's spread his hands out, indicating his army, with a smug smirk. "All these Demons and Seelies are working on my orders. They will not hesitate to kill. And you think you can challenge this?"

"Alone he cannot, but with us, he can"

Jimin's head whipped to the sound of the voice coming from behind him.

His heart soared when he saw Seokjin- Seokjin!- walking towards Jimin, with a smirk of his own that rivaled the Demon King's. Jimin threw him a puzzled look and Seokjin just winked at him.

"Witches," he roared. "Come on out!"

At the brisk command, in came a whole horde of witches- men and women alike- some carrying weapons like bows and swords. Jimin broke out in a wide and relieved smile.

Seokjin had completed his task.

The witches didn't make up even one fourth the army Ajax had, but it was the shock in the Demon Kings face that lightened up the warrior within Jimin. The man looked absolutely enraged.

"Very dramatic" finally, the man drawled out, his effort to sound unaffected not going unnotices. His mask of anger was barely concealed beneath his calm façade. "But still outnumbered, don't you think little angel?"

"I wouldn't say so"

This time, it was from Jimin's right side, that the lilting voice rang out. His smirk grew wider. because yes, yes, yes!

Erata and Fen had also succeeded in their task.

For behind them, were a swarm of Angels, clad in white and armed for offense. As Erata gave Jimin a wide smile, she came to a stand-still beside him. Fen nodded at Jimin briefly and stood beside the girl. The Angels joined the witches, forming up quite an impressive group.

Jimin's heart thudded in his chest.

Now if only Draiotch and Yoongi would come...

Ajax hissed, his carefully composed mask shattering into pieces at the sight of the new additions.

"What is this?" he snarled.

Jimin held his chin high when he replied, "A Resistance. Against you"

"You cannot defeat me" Ajax sneered but Jimin saw a small part of doubt raging within him. It was enough to have Jimin's confidence building itself up. "This may all look entertaining, but you cannot defeat me"

"I guess we'll just have to see about that"

Yes!

As Jimin watched, out of a portal swirling in mid-air made by Fen, out came Draiotch.

Jimin waited with bated breath, straining to see whether his plane had worked out or not-

Draiotch threw him a grin.

Behind him, Jungkook jumped out of the portal, landing on his feet with a soft thud.

Jeon- motherfucking- Jungkook. Jimin had severely told him to stay behind, but of course, when did that brat ever listen?

The said brat gave him a wink and out came a man who Jimin concluded as Jungkook's real father. The leader of the Korean Mafia. He held an aura about him that excluded quite intimidatingly, just like how Jimin would imagine any Mafia boss would.

Jimin was almost too excited now, even though nothing had even happened yet and so many things could potentially go wrong.

But as more men swarmed behind Jungkook's father, all holding up silver weapons, Jimin could feel the adrenaline coursing through his veins and thanking his lucky stars that his letter to Jungkook had actually and literally worked. Had made the boy contact his father finally. And it was almost like a dream, that Jimin was right here, surrounded by and army of his own, ready to battle Ajax.

But the most important part was missing, he realized with a jolt.

Where was Yoongi?

His eyes widened a fraction.

Where were Yoongi had Hoseok?

Had they not been able to complete their quest?

Jimin looked at Seokjin, horror dawning over his eyes. Seokjin mirrored his expression as if he too, realized this.

"You think you can defeat me with a couple of puny humans?" Ajax burst out, voice sharp and furious. Jimin frowned at the dig at humans. "Humans are worth nothing. They cannot do anything"

Jimin regained his composure, for he couldn't be seen in front of his enemy without confidence. He couldn't look vulnerable. Not with a few hundred faces all waiting for him- counting on his lead.

He stretched his lips into a smirk. "Ah, but they have a greater weapon" Jimin paused for the effect. "Silver. Silver which can kill Demons"

And really, Jimin enjoyed how Ajax looked fully taken-aback now. He enjoyed having that power over the man; loved being finally able to stand his ground. Shocked gasps broke out from Ajax's army which the man instantly quietened down with a roar.

But now, Jimin was discreetly looking around for any sign of the Reaper and his scythe. They needed to be here.

Without them, all of this would be meaningless.

He willed himself to be calm, be composed but in the face of the growing silent tension in the ground, Jimin was almost forced into his despair. They couldn't wait much longer. Sooner or later, one side or the other would start to attack. The other would retaliate. And the battle would be meaningless if Jimin didn't get the spell.

His heart was starting to pound against his chest as he stared down the Demon King.

How much longer could he drag this out? How much longer could he-they- wait?

Yoongi, he desperately cried. Yoongi, where are you?
