I watch her, expertly writing on her leather-bound book while I held my phone as if I was doing something with it but I haven't turned it on since I arrived. I just watch her praying she wouldn't notice me. She's more interesting than anything that can happen on my phone.

Her legs wrapped over mine as she lies on her bed and me leaning against the wall. Just a typically Sunday for us now.  It's only been a week but it feels like I've been with the girl I love for the rest of my life— but she doesn't know that.

"Quit it." She lightly kicked and I laugh.

"What?"

"You've been staring at me." She pouted, closing her book and setting it down next to her. I eyed it for a second, curious about what might be in it. When she noticed, she grabs it again and hugs it, protecting it from me.

"Fine, I'll stop staring if..." I take her feet off and climbed on top of her, crawling up to her lips, "if you let me see what's in here." I tapped the leather and she bites her lip in a giggle.

She's cuter with her tiny braids and my shirt.

"That is forbidden Mr. Cadwell," she teased trying to wriggle away from my body but I pin her down and she giggles loudly making me smile.

"Humanity started when someone did something forbidden."

"And your point is?" She sassed and I gasped making her burst out in laughter. I felt her thigh brush up my...manhood and I gulped. If only she knew how hard this is for me to keep my desires...no pun intended.

"My point is I'm willing to do something forbidden." I dug my fingers into her hips and she squeals in her ticklish self. She loosens her grip on the book enough that I was able to snatch it away with no problem. She gasps loudly as I jumped up, turning around so she doesn't have fast access to the book.

Within a few seconds, I hear a growl behind me then felt one freakishly strong Evie wrap her whole body around me like a koala trying to get back her book. I laughed and pretended like she wasn't there even though she was screaming at the top of her lungs, laughing too. When she managed to graze the pages I reached the part where her ribbon was and there I found a beautiful sketch.

I halt and even she stopped. Her head peeked beside mine looking at her work the same way I did. It was me. She sketched me when I thought she wasn't looking.

"You sneaky girl," I murmured feeling my heart flutter at the small gesture that I usually wouldn't care about. But this was her and everything she does, I care about.

She let's go of me and I turned around when she was stood up on her bed. The only time she will ever be taller than me is now. I studied her, painting her in my mind like the way she drew me. Her cheeks were red as she wrapped both her arms around my neck. The smell of her perfume filled my lungs and her lips never looked so tempting right about now.

"Not gonna lie, I enjoyed you being wrapped around me there." I kissed her neck and she chuckles. Jumping to me and doing exactly the same thing I just said I liked.

My eyes widened and my lips curled into a smirk.

"And you say I'm the freak," I said, placing my lips on hers as we brought us both down to the bed.

What started with a small peck continued to a hunger strike. Her soft moans broke right through until our session flooded our minds. Quicker and quicker it got and hotter and hotter—

"What the fuck?!" The shrill cry of a girl startled us followed by a loud slam and two voices cursing outside.

Evie froze while I growled in annoyance.

"Shit," we both said with her in shame and mine in anger.

I jumped up, my sexual hunger not having it any better. When I opened the door I found Danica and Cade standing out with both of their faces in a scowl and arms crossed like two parents who just walked in their child fucking some strange guy. I raised a brow at them waiting for a word but when nothing came, I just became annoyed.

"Oh come on, it's not like it's your first time walking in on people." I reminded them and they both shared a look before pushing me back as they walked in.

I rolled my eyes and wondered if this was the best place to hang out with my girlfriend. Not when her roommate can barge in and suddenly act like she was the best out of the two. One of these days she'll see something worse and I won't even regret it.

"Hey...hey guys," Evie stuttered, trying to fix herself while I leaned against the wall watching her adorably trying to look not smitten.  I bit my lip lustfully as I watched her pull down the raked up shirt. Man, only if she knew how hot she is— and if the two morons didn't come in when it was starting to get interesting.

"You two really need to slow down."

"And you need to mind your business punk," I replied to Cade who glares at me anyway. That wasn't interesting to me though, what was interesting is how Evie's cheeks turned tomato red.

Danica starts to speak about some chilled out event tonight in town but before she can even get into the details, Evie's phone rang, getting all our attention.

She excuses herself and I furrowed my brows as I watched her walk out looking paler than ever.

She comes back with a gloomy loom in her eyes as she tries to hide it in a smile. Of course, it didn't work when all of us noticed it.

"Well, looks like I'll be spending Christmas alone," she shrugged, chuckling sadly. I frowned at her news and thought of only one reason why that must be the case.

Those stupid parents of hers really wouldn't give her a break, won't they? Every time I think of it nothing else happens but my anger brewing.  He deserves so much more than just how they've treated her. If only they knew how lucky they are to have such a girl in their lives. Ungrateful pricks.

"What, why?" Cade questioned rightfully.

"My parents said they're going back to the Philippines to spend their holiday there. As a punishment for not achieving those medical shadowing, they didn't get me a ticket, and well...that's that." I can hear the pain in her voice as she looked down, fiddling with her fingers.

Of course, my anger only got worse but I wouldn't let that get to me again. It will only make things worse for her so instead I say, "you don't need them. You can spend Christmas with us," I said and thankfully the others agreed without another thought.

"I'm sure Christmas with them would be torture anyway," Danica added.

"To hell with them. At least now you don't have to worry about breaking the rules. Stay up late and help out at the event in town. You'll probably like making kids smile than sulking here right?" Cade perked up and I scoffed thinking who in their right mind would spend hours serving food or talking to some kids.

"Yeah right, as if we are interested in that. We'd rather stay in," I shrugged confidently thinking that Evie would agree considering she tends to like laying in any way.

"You're the boyfriend, not God," Cade retorted, shaking his head and gesturing to me like I was some crazy guy. I scowled and stood up straight wondering if all of a sudden he gained the strength to fight me.

"You wouldn't hurt me in front of your girlfriend that's why I can be a jerk alright, give me this one won't you?" He raised his hands and I looked at Evie who blinked her expectations towards me. I rolled my eyes agreeing with him and stood down.

Sometimes I think I gave her too much power and sometimes I regret it.

"Why don't we go? I mean maybe it'll help me get stuff out of my mind right." Evie expressed and looks at me, "call it a date!" She snapped her fingers and I facepalmed with a groan.

How did I end up here again?

"This place looks amazing," I say while gawking at the unlit Christmas tree in the middle of the park. Going on for a few blocks was a small winter wonderland set up for charity. It was a beautiful white event with kids throwing snowballs and building fixtures. The sound of people winning games filled the night while the smell of pine and burgers danced in the air above us.

"Alright, it's pretty, now can we go home?" I hear Matteo whine as I drag him in. As expected he isn't being the great fun guy. I roll my eyes and turned to him, wrapping my thickly layered arms around his scarf covered neck.

"Can you please shut up and enjoy something normal for once?" I tempted even if he wouldn't even look me in the eye.

He sighs, his breath misting in the wind, and then he says, "fine, but just because you're being damned cute about it."

I smiled and placed a kiss on his nose before thanking him then grabbing his hand and dragging him to one of the carnival games.

I don't know what goes on in his mind when he agrees to things I know he is not very fond of just for me, but what ever it is, it really is making me like him more each day. All the nuances from the way he tries not to curse or how he keeps his cigarette packet in his car just so he wouldn't impulsively smoke make my stomach burst into flutters.  It's the little things he was willing to do that makes all of the pinings and waiting worth it.

Now I'm here, throwing darts at balloons in a very unstrategic way. Before I knew it, my quarter was wasted and I didn't even win a thing.

I turn to Matteo with disappointment and felt even worse when I found him smirking at me.

"Oh leave me alone, I don't do stuff like this on a daily."

He laughs at my childishness before calling to the clerk and paying him for a turn. I watched his cocky self-position with the darts in his hands.

"If I win, I want something in return." He said and I crossed my arms, raising a brow at his offer. He looks at me and waited.

"Win me three plushies from 3 different games and we'll go home."

"Three games?" He whined, raising his hands and I shrugged at his dismay giving him no choice. He gives up and nods anyway to my own amusement.

He began the game and I was astonished by how accurate his shots were. I clapped and cheered at every shot he gets right. In every game he played I watched him carefully, picturing the day I met him and how I never would've thought I'd be here next to him. We loathed each other and tried to stay away. The more I tried to more I became reckless, less afraid of my own family. I started breaking free of the chains they gave me in the first place and it was all because of him. He doesn't even know it and I know that I would do anything to let him know just how much he changed my life.

Before I knew it, I had three teddy bears in hand as he walked with a bucket of popcorn in his hands. I looked at him proudly, waiting for him to tell me he wanted to go home but nothing came out of his lips. Not after his little cheer when he got me the best price in one of the games. He seemed to have enjoyed himself more than he ever thought and I'm happy to see him that way. I guess my charming cheers and tempting mockery did crack a shell.

"So, wanna head home?" I suggested, "you held your end of the deal." I lifted the bears, reminding him and he looks at me in contemplation. Not until his lips curled into a smile.

"They're about to light the tree, I think it's worth to stay for." He shrugged and I gasped dramatically halting our stroll.

"Look who turned over a new leaf." He chuckled and places a kiss on my forehead. I watched as his eyes danced like I was a book he was enjoying. He then gently leans down and plants a loving kiss on my lips.

"I love you." He whispered and I froze my heart with it.

He notices my reaction and pulls away but I didn't see fear or regret in his eyes. The kind people usually see in movies when the other says those words.

Perhaps he knows exactly how I would respond.

I perked up and hugged him, closing my eyes while his words repeated like a poem in my mind until they rolled off my own tongue,

"I love you," I whispered and I felt a breath of relief wash over him.

As we pulled apart, cheers erupted behind us and at that moment, I knew it wasn't only the tree that was lit up.
