I woke up to darkness. The last thing I remembered was finally reaching Walt Mountains.
"Hello? Kayla? Nick? KJ?" I called out for them.
"You're finally awake." Someone said.
I turned towards the sound of the voice.
"Who said that?" I asked.
"That's not something you need to worry about, What you need to worry about is where or not we will feed you to the zombies unless you tell us who you are and what you want." The voice demanded.
I listened to the voice. It appeared to be a boy. Possibly around my age.
"Now you listen and listen well. I'm not telling you crap until I know my friends are safe. Got that?" I yelled.
He chuckled, "You're funny. Your friends are fine, for now. Trust me."
"How am I supposed to trust someone I can't see?" I ask.
The voice was silent. Suddenly bright lights lit the room. I looked around my little "prison". I seemed to be in a steel-walled room, with one door. Next to the door was a huge window. On the other side of the window was a guy as expected. I took a look at the guy. He wore jeans and a white T-shirt. Over the white T-shirt, he wore a black jean jacket. A chain hanged from the jeans. I took an even closer look at his face. To be honest he was handsome. He had brown hair and wore a beanie over it.
"You can see me, now tell me who you are and what you want." He said into an intercom.
"Fine then. My name is Chloe Vander. My friends and I had escaped the O.R.S.T and came across a plan made by people calling themselves the Blue Ghosts. Do you know them?" I ask.
"I've heard of them... What do you want from them?" He said, leaning back in his chair.
"My friend Nick... He was bitten. We wanted to find out if they have a cure to help him."
The guy scoffed and disappeared from the window.
"Hey!" I yelled running up to the window. "You can't keep me locked up here!"
Suddenly I heard a click and the door opened.
A girl gestured me to follow her. I ran out the door before it closed.
"My name is Veronica. I heard your Chloe Vander?" She says. Veronica wore black combat boots with leggings. She wore a white long sleeve shirt with a black leather vest. She has long thin black hair and wears glasses.
"Let me guess, the beanie guy told you who I am?" I ask.
"'The beanie guy's real name is Luke and no, I was also there to interrogate you." She answers.
We stop in front of a large crowd. Everyone turns towards us.
"Allow me to introduce us. We are the Blue Ghosts and welcome to the Safe Haven."
Everyone stands and claps.
"Why are they clapping?" I ask.
"Because of you, Chloe Vander. You are the one who will save us." Luke says joining me and Veronica.
"How... Exactly will I save you? I don't have superpowers or anything." I ask him.
"You have something in your blood..." A familiar voice said from behind me.
I turned around and gasped in surprise, "Dr. McRae? Is that you?"
She chuckled and nodded.
Dr. McRae was one of my father's best friends. He and Dr. McRae both worked at the same hospital. She was actually my family doctor.
"Now that I think about it. Dr. White said the same thing. She said they found something extraordinary in my blood." I say to her.
"There are some things to explain. But, after we save your friend, all will be revealed. So let's get to it." She says and leads me to where Nick was being treated.
When we got there, Nick was laying down on a hospital bed. Kayla and KJ were sitting next to him when they looked up to see who came in.
I ran towards them and hugged them for a while.
"I can't believe we're actually saved, Chloe. But, how will they save Nick?" Kayla asks.
"I don't know yet," I admit.
"Chloe, Phoebe will be using some of your blood." Dr. McRae says to me.
"Wait, why do you need to use my blood? I ask her.
"I can't tell you yet because it won't make sense, so you just got to trust me for now. Can you do that?"
I nod.
Someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and saw Luke with a needle.
"I need to take your blood," he says.
"Okay."
He led me to a stool and I got ready for him to take my blood.
"Might pinch a little." He warns.
"It's fine. So... Did you already know who I was?" I ask, taking my mind off the needle.
"Well... Yes but, we just had to make sure you were the right girl we're looking for." Luke admits.
"Did you really have to keep in the dark though? Like what could be wrong with a little light?" I say trying to tease him.
"I was just following orders."
"Well.... How about we just let bygones be bygones."
He stops by me and says, "Okay. Do you want to hang out later? I could show you around the place"
"Sure, and you can tell me what foods good to eat here cuz' I am starving."
He laughs and hands the blood to Phoebe before heading out the door.
"Hey, I wouldn't be friends with Luke if I were you," Phoebe whispers to me.
Phoebe is wearing black joggers and a hoodie that says, "Ride or Die" on it. Phoebe had black hair with neon green underneath.
"Why can't I be friends with him?" I ask kind of mad.
"He's dating the worst person here, Skyler." She says and points towards a girl.
I look over to where this Skyler chick is. Skyler is wearing black joggers with a white crop top and a Navy-blue bomber jacket. Her hair is in a high ponytail and she wears a ton of makeup. Next to her stands Luke.
He's dating her? I thought.
I scoff, "Who in their right mind would date her. She literally looks like she just dumped a whole bag of makeup onto her face."
"Still, I wouldn't mess with her if I were you. She's rumored to have killed almost everyone here who has turned into a zombie."
I laugh and say,
"If I were her. I wouldn't mess with me."
