Dear Dove,
I first realized Blake was wrong about his assumptions
of you when I really started looking at the set up of your house.
His trophies and his pictures and his
newspaper articles were everywhere.
Framed, polished, and shiny.
There wasn't a wall in this house that didn't have Blake.
You were here and there.
You were squeezed in as an
afterthought.
You were given one shelf crammed with achievements that were shoved off to the side.
Hell, the maid gave you
more love and attention than your own parents did.
All they saw was Blake.
And I'll admit, in the beginning,
I was guilty of that too.
But when I looked in that house that didn't hold you,
I was reminded of Stella.
Stella, who'd been pushed aside
and forgotten by me
and everyone I'd lost.
You were my living, breathing Stella.
And it broke my heart to see you suffer while everyone carried on like nothing was wrong.
You made me realize that we all needed someone to see the real us at least once in our lives.
I saw you, Dove.
I saw you.
Don't ever forget that.
