Elizabeth's POV
"Hey Alec?"I called out softly. We were on the institute's roof with a blanket staring up at the stars together as we cuddled up next to each other
"Yes love?" He responds smiling as he looks down at me. "Do you ever wonder what would have happened if we never met?" I asked and he shakes his head
"I try not to think about that because we are here right now together and that's all that matters. All I could tell you is that my life would be miserable if you weren't here and I thank all those stars in the night sky right now that you're here with me right now and that you're mine" He says caressing my cheek softly.
I grinned at his words as I shifted so I was sitting on his lap. "You Alexander Lightwood sure do have a way with words" I smile pecking his lips before quickly pulling away but leaving my lips hovering inching away from his.
"I do don't I?" He says playfully and I nod. "Yeah my favorite has to be "Come here often?"" I laugh and he pulls away looking at me with a pout
"I'll never live that down will I?" He asks with a frown and I chuckle. "No you won't" I say before closing the tiny gap between us with a passionate kiss to try and express the love I have for his man. He kissed me back with equal passion as he wraps his arms around my waist pushing me impossibly closer as my hands went to tug on his silky raven locks
"I" Kiss. "Love" kiss. "You" Alec says in between kisses making me smile and pull back just to say those three words back before kissing him again
Suddenly a phone goes off and Alec shakes his head before pulling me back to his lips as I tried to pull away to see who was calling.
"Babe it might be important" I said and he groans before picking up his phone which was the one that kept going off
"It's Jace. He is starting to really annoy me" Alec mumbles as he picks up the phone. "Yes Jace?" He questions and I sit there on Alec's lap as he rolls his eyes.
"Can it wait I'm actually really busy right now" He says as he tapped his fingers on my hip impatiently
"It doesn't matter what I am doing Jace I said it's important" He whines out before his cheeks flush. "No I'm not with Elizabeth" He says looking at me as I try to hold back a laugh
He huffs before sighing loudly. "Fine give me like twenty minutes" he says into the phone before he glares at nothing in particular
"Yes Jace I need all twenty minutes to say goodbye to my girlfriend you can wait" He says before hanging up
"I'm sorry love he needs help with a demon nest-" I cut him off with a small kiss before smiling. "It's fine we're shadowhunters it's part of the job" I said as I got up.
"I just wanted to spend a day with you. I feel like the only time we see each other is on missions these days" He pout and I shake my head
"You drama queen we see each other everyday and the most we've been apart is five hours. I think Jace misses his parabatai" I laugh out loud and he sighs
"Why can't he hang out with Izzy?" He pouts once more and I laugh at his childish acts as I help him up.
"Because I'm hanging out with Izzy. Now go you big baby. " I chuckle as I place a peck on his cheek and push him towards the doors to enter the institute again
"Wait wait wait" he says turning back around to face me and I chuckle once more. "Yes Alec?" I say smiling up at him as he stood in front of me pulling me towards him
"Can you sleep over in my room tonight?" He asks as he smiles down at me with a pleading look in his eyes
"Alec I stayed over last night and the night before that and the night before that"I say having every intention to stay over again but wanting to mess with him a little bit.
"But baby please" He said giving me puppy dog eyes and I smiled leaning up on my tippy toes. "You know it's always a yes Alec" I say pecking his lips softly as he smiled down at me
"I love you so much El" He said and I smiled. "I love you more now go Jace needs you"
"Alec you can't do this I need you to stay alive! El needs you!" I heard Izzy shout and Alec pushes what sounded like a chair as he yelled back at her. "Jace needs me Izzy! He is going to die out there whether it be Aldertree or Valentine! El tried to help me and look at where it got her! I need to do this it's the only way!"
I winced as i opened my eyes to be met with bright lights. I was on Alec's bed in one of his shirts and I sat up blinking as my eyes adjusted.
"What's going on? What happened?" I asked and both of the Lightwood snapped their head to me.
"El you're okay" Alec sighs in relief as he walks over to the bed sitting down next to me. "Iz can you give us a minute I need to talk to her alone" He says grabbing my hand as he looked up at Iz who glared at him
"Fine but you better tell her about your ridiculous plan" She spits out as she walks out sending me soft smile when she looks at me
"What's going on Alec?" I ask as he sighs. "Well to begin with I just want to say I'm sorry that I yelled at you. I took my frustration out n you and that isn't fair. W-when I walked away and heard you fall. I- when I saw you just lying thereI was so worried. I'm so sorry" He says looking down not meeting my gaze
This boy is ridiculous sometimes
"Alec you have nothing to apologize for. Your parabatai, your other half is out there and you don't know where. You have every right to be worried and anxious and no one can blame you for that my love. It's okay. I know you didn't mean it" I said as I lifted his chin up to make him look at me
"El what did I do to deserve you?" He asks and I shake my head. "You deserve the world Alec" I said smiling at him as he grinned
"What's Izzy going on about though Alec?" I ask and his expression changes. "El if I found a way to find Jace. You'd let me do it right? Someone called Aldertree is taking control of the institute right now and he has an order to bring in Jace dead or alive. Your mom found a way to help me find Jace because your sister was kidnapped by Dot so she thinks by finding Jace we'll find Clary too" He says all in one breath
"Wait Clary is kidnapped? My mom is helping you and what is this way that you can find Jace?" I let out and he sighs
"Yes she was and there is this stone where I can track him through our parabatai bond our connected sounds.It comes with some risks though" He said and I look at him waiting for him to go on as my heart begins to beat faster
"Well if I wander too far basically I won't wake up you can say"
"If you don't come back you'll die?" I said softly and he shrugs as I stand up glaring at him. "Alec you can't seriously think I'm going to let you do this right?" I ask and he shakes his head
"El it's the only way" He says and I glare at him. "The only way my ass Alec! I won't let you die when we can find another way. I'm not losing you!" I yell at him and he stands up
"Elizabeth there is no other way we've tried everything!" He says and I shake my head. "No Alec I refuse to believe that! You can't die on me Alec!" I shout at him and he tries to reach for me but I stumble back as I quickly exit the room entering my room quickly and locking the door
Sitting on my bed I tried to control my breathing as I felt my body shake with the fear of what was going to happen
I know Alec won't listen to me. He us going to go through with this. "Dammit" I yell punching my pillow before grabbing some clothes and showering to try an get myself to relax
When I finished I left looking for someone being careful to not run into Alec. "Mom!" I shouted as I saw the person I was looking for
"Elizabeth you're awake thank the angel I was so wor-" She began but I cut her off. "No mom what the hell were you thinking?" I said and she looks taken back. "What?" She asks and I glare at her
"Offering whatever stupid stone to Alec. I know what this is really about mom. You don't care what happens to Alec. You just want to find Clary. I know you are worried and would do anything to get her back but Alec means something to me mom. He means the world to me and I can't lose him but your selfishness is going to get hm killed' I said and she gulps nervously
"Elizabeth honey I just want everyone to get what they want-" I hold my hand up for her t stop talking
"I know he's going to go through with it even if the whole world tells him no and if he dies mom I will never forgive you for that" I say walking off before conveniently running into Alec
"El !" He exclaims holding onto me before I had the chance to escape his grasp. "Alec you're asking me to watch you die" I whisper and he looks at me sadly
"My love our whole job is risking our lives everyday. This is no different. It's part of being a shadowhunter. I have to do this El" He says

Alec's POV
She looks up at me with tears shining in her eyes making my heart feel like it was breaking knowing I was the reason behind those tears
"I know you do and I won't stop you not that me trying anything would stop you" She said softly her voice barely above a whisper
"Baby" I whisper but she shakes her head grabbing my hand and leading me to the rooftop of the institute
This is where we would go whenever we wanted to be alone without any interruptions. It worked most of the time but Jace and Izzy usually always found a way to interrupt our moments.
This was our secret spot we liked to called it
El lets go of my hand as she stands near the ledge looking out at the city. "I need you to promise me Alec. I need you to promise me you'll come back to me" She said her voice cracking ever so slightly
Standing next to her and twisting her body to face mine she was biting her lip to stop the tears from falling And I can tell she was holding in a sob
"I promise" I whisper as I stared down at her wiping the few stray tears and kissing her softly. I would never get tired of this feeling
The feeling I got when I was near her, when I was holding her, when I kiss her, hell even when I simply look at her
She was my world
"You bitch!" She yells pulling away as she glared at me and I looked back confused at her. "You taste like chocolate. Like my chocolate Alec" She states and I laugh nervously rubbing the back of my neck
"Well you see what happened was" I begin before running away quickly running past the door and running into Izzy's who looked startled as I ran into her huge closet hiding in between a rack of clothes in a dark corner
"Alexander Gideon Lightwood" I heard El say as she walks into the room. "El he's not in here what happened?" Izzy says and El chuckles
"He ate my chocolate and I saw him run in here so Izzy I suggest you tell me where he is" She says and Izzy squeaks
"He ate your chocolate?" She says and I didn't hear anything so I assumed El just nodded. "Sorry Alec I don't want to die" Izzy yells and I hear the click of her heels as she runs away
"Baby come out I just wanna talk" El says in a sugarloaf sweet voice. I hold my breath as she walked in the closet. "Wow I totally can't see the big ass feet peeking from behind that rack" She laughs
I step out with a playfully offended face. "I don't have big feet" I say and she sighs before smirking
She runs to me jumping on me wrapping her legs around my waist. I stumble back as I catch her and balance us but unfortunately hit the wall behind me making me groan
"Whoops" She smiles innocently and I look at her with a smile on my face before leaning in and kissing her
She kisses me back harder and I return the favor. For now we can ignore our problems. Just for these few minutes
"Liz I thought you were going to kill him not make out with him in my closet" Izzy's voice rings in our ears and I feel El's hand shift from my shoulder so I open my eyes looking to the side without disconnecting out lips to see her flipping Izzy off making me chuckle before pulling back
"We should get going" She says sadly as she hops off and I immediately feel that weight in my chest seeing the anxiousness and fear in her eyes
"I'll go get your mom"
