"What the fuck was that?" Calla asked. I couldn't tell if she was shocked or excited, but her voice was squeakier than normal.

"Calla, how come you're back?" I questioned. She wasn't supposed to be back till tomorrow.

"They kissed," Sydney said in a matter-of-fact tone, completely ignoring my question.

"I was gone for one day. One day!" Calla shouted. She is so dramatic it drives me insane!

"You and Jace?" I just about heard Lucas ask over the brain numbing sound of Syd and Calla's nonsense chatting. He had a confused but worried look in his eyes, I couldn't tell why.

"I guess so," I shrugged looking Lucas directly in the eye. Something about him was off about all of this.

He stood there for a second, analysing my face. "As long as you're happy," he said, and I nodded. He smiled at me apologetically before I heard his footsteps lead up the stairs. I knew why he smiled at me like that. It was about earlier and to be honest, I hope they sorted everything out between them. Sydney and Lucas would make a great couple.

I sat there for what felt like forever just waiting for the two grown women in front of me to calm down. They were acting like little children on Christmas morning, waiting for the time where they could rip open all their present. I didn't want to be ripped open.

I got up off the couch, walked into the kitchen, got a drink from the fridge, came back in the room, and sat back down. They hadn't even noticed I had left.

"Are you two going to shut up anytime soon or..." I asked but got ignored for the second time in a short amount of time. I had enough. I got up and walked to the bottom of the stairs. I shouted, "Let me know once you two have stopped acting like idiots then I'll come back and talk to you," and walked up into my bedroom.

I plopped myself down on my bed after getting ready for bed and laid down on my back, my lights already on pink. I felt a whole range of different emotions. Happiness and excitement to nervousness and complete exhaust. I thought back to the crazy events of the last 24 hours. A lot can happen in that time.

I turned my lights off and got into bed. I picked up my phone from where I had thrown it on my bed and looked at the time, it was 1:38am. Going to turn it on silent for the night, I noticed a notification.

A text from Jace. I would usually leave replying to it till the next day, but I opened it straight away.

You asleep?

I sent a quick "going to be" back and placed my phone on my bedside cabinet. I had my eyes closed but I still managed to notice the light of my phone ringing cutting through the darkness of my room. I left it to ring, not thinking properly due to tiredness.

It rang again.

Annoyed, I slapped my hand onto the table, searching blindly for my phone. Once I had located it, I answered and held it to my ear.

"That wasn't very nice," Jace's low voice said into the phone. I shuddered but blamed it on the fact the cover I was laying under had shifted, exposing my skin to the cold air.

"What wasn't?" I asked, shifting my body so I was now sitting up with my back on the headboard.

"You ignoring me."

"What? When?" I asked through a yawn. My brain was moving extremely slow due to the lack of sleep I had recently. I rubbed my eyes when I noticed the noise from downstairs had quietened.

He chuckled deeply as I heard shuffling of sheets from his end of the phone. He must be in bed like I am. "This is my second time ringing you. Just this time, you picked up."

"Oh yeah. You were the person I ignored. In my defence if I had of checked the caller ID, I would have picked up," I stated, feeling more awake at the sound of his voice.

"You still have my spare helmet," Jace reminded me.

I turned my light on and thought back to the last time I had it. I jumped out of my bed and walked into the bathroom and saw it sat on the counter, "Yeah, you're not getting it back."

"Is that so?" There was a hint of amusement present in his voice.

"Nope. It's mine now much like how you still have my sweatshirt," I reminded him. I am still kind of mad that he hasn't given it back but now we're even.

"Touché."

I held the phone away from my ear attempting to listen to what was going on downstairs. I could hear all three of them chatting but nothing as bad as it was when I left. Thank God for that.

I moved the phone back to my ear and heard complete silence, occasionally hearing Jace eating something.

"You know what," I began "I love Syd and Calla with all my heart, but they can be so flipping annoying."

"You know, I overheard what you said to Justin at the diner a few months ago." Where did that randomly come from?

"What made you think of that," I asked, voicing my thoughts.

"You were talking about annoying people," he answered as if it was nothing.

"True. So how much did you hear?" I questioned warily. I didn't know if I wanted to know how much he had heard but I asked anyway.

"Enough to hear you telling him that he was 'the stereotypical J' name type of guy and that you should've listened to the assumptions."

I cringed as the words exited his mouth. That was the one thing I didn't want him to hear or remember, but he did. "Yeah. Are you sure I said that? Like Syd didn't say it or someone else?"

I heard him take another mouthful what he was eating before replying. Why and what the hell could he be eating at this time in the night. Well, morning technically.

"No, you said it." Damn it. Why did he have to remember?

"Ugh okay."

"Do you still believe that?" I knew what he was getting at, I'm not stupid. He wanted to see if that applied to him.

"Yeah, I do. Justin's still a prick and nothing will change my opinion on that, but I feel like you're trying to indirectly ask if I think the same about you," I explained to him. There was no answer or clarification of what I was thinking from the other end, just silence.

"No, I don't think that about you. You're..." I hesitated.

"I'm what?" He asked jovially.

"Different than him."

"Is that so?" He asked and I could hear the smile that was on his face when I told him.

I sat there grinning like a schoolgirl when my door flew open and presented my two best friends, both with a crazy and troublesome look in their eyes. They were up to something. I frowned at the both of them, showing them the screen of my phone, telling them that I was on the phone. They looked towards each other before Calla ran and jumped on my bed and pinned me down.

Sydney took the phone out of my hand and held it to her own ear, "This is very cute and all, but Ivy has more pressing matters right now."

Sydney stood in the middle of my room, hand on her hip, listening to Jace was saying. She obviously wasn't too fond of what he said as she rolled her eyes and glared at me. I was still being forcefully held down by Calla. She may be a lot smaller than me but don't underestimate her strength.

Syd's eyes widened as she quickly moved the phone away from her ear, put it on loudspeaker and held it out towards me.

"I'll see you soon, Ivy," Jace quickly said before Syd immediately hung up and threw my phone on the bed. Calla's grip on me loosened and I reached for my phone. Syd had purposely got my password wrong, therefore disabling my phone for 5 minutes.

"Get out!" I shouted. I grabbed two pillows from either side of me and threw it at their faces. They both just stayed where they were, looking at me, both their faces free of any type of emotion.

I moved the pillow from under my head and pushed it against my face. "Why are you two in here? I need to sleep," I groaned into the pillow.

"Tell. Me. Everything. Right now!" Calla exclaimed. She was sat on my bed, legs crossed, hand supporting her head. I looked towards Syd and all I got was the look that she gives me when she wants me to speak. It works every time.

"Jace took us to the beach. We sat on some rocks, watching the waves whilst talking and then I got off the rocks and then we kissed. That's it." I left out certain parts of what happened. I'm not sure why I did but I guess it has something to do with the fact that I hadn't processed it properly myself.

"Ivy! Go into detail," Calla complained at me. I rolled my eyes at her eagerness but carried on talking, nonetheless.

"Well, he did say that where he had taken me on the beach only one other person has been with him." That pulled me back to what he said, noticing something I hadn't before.

"You're the only one that knows about it here apart from her. Apart from her"

Who was "her"?

My mind started running away with itself, dramatizing everything he had said.

"We would hang out all the damn time. Apart from her. We were best friends."

I suddenly felt the most insecure than I have before. Who was she? They were best friends, so they have a bond like most people dream of. I needed to stop overthinking so much. I never overthought like this till I met Jace. My mind ran wild as one specific thing that he said flashed in my head.

"We don't talk anymore though."

I felt slight relief at those words but that didn't stop me from pondering over this person is. She's a part of Jace's life and if I really wanted to be with him, this was something we were going to have to talk about.

I switched off from my thoughts and brought myself back into the room. Calla and Syd were talking amongst themselves, Lucas staring at me from the threshold of my room. He looked at me sympathetically, asking me if I was okay with his eyes. I nodded as a yawn escaped my mouth.

"Come on then you two, Ivy needs to sleep. She's had an eventful day." He ushered Sydney and Calla out my room, closing the door behind him. He walked over and sat on the end of the bed.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, just tired." He didn't seem to buy my excuse, so I gave him the I'm-telling-the-truth look.

Lucas stood up and exited my room and I rolled onto my side and tried to allow myself to process everything before falling asleep.

I've had promiscuous stuck in my head all day and I can't get it out... hElP. Also, I recently had the sudden urge to rr the first book I ever read on here so I think I might do that.

I feel like a lot has happened in such a short amount of time in this book it's crazy... and it isn't even the climax yet.
