unbothered, debted souls
as the hands of clock race
why don't your feet
rush you towards submission
for the wounds you carry
need the balm of prayer
as often times as you hear adhaan
why does your mind protest
about the heaviness of it
so loudly that it submerges
your conscience
in the salty ocean
of this delusional dunya?
have you forgotten
oh companions of modern earth
that no matter how much
salt water you pour
on those unseeable wounds
they will continue to sting
