Don't always play it safe or you'll die wondering."

Hollywood was bustling with traffic outside of The Orpheum late at night, as the marquee glowed showing off the sold-out showcasing of Sunset Curve. Inside, feedback from the mic blurred as an electric guitar riff began to play and the drummer started to count off for the song.

(Luke in Bold, Reese in Italics, band is Both, Alex is regular, Luke and Reese underline)

ONE, TWO, THREE!

🎵Take off
Last stop
Countdown till we blast open the top

Luke sang as the rest of the band jammed out in the background, while Reese continued to dance around to her friend's rhythm and voices, before joining in the fun and singing her lyrics.

Face first
Full charge
Electric hammer to the heart

Clocks move faster
Cause it's all we're after now~ (Oh)

As the band sang their parts, Reggie, moved over to join Luke to sing the next lyrics together, causing the brunette to smile at his friend.

Won't stop climbing
'Cause this is our time, yeah

Getting close to his part Luke jokingly pushed his friend back to his spot, as he moved back towards the center to prepare himself for the chorus. Reese who saw the little moment, let out a quick laugh before preparing herself to move closer to Luke.

When all the days felt black and white
Those were the best shades of my life~

Don't look down
Cause we're still rising
Up right now
And even if we
Hit the ground
We'll still fly
Keep dreaming like we'll live forever
But live it like it's now or never!

In the back, Alex, slowly leaned closer to his mic fighting away the slight nerves, as he began to sing his part while smiling at his best friends from up top.

We ain't searching for tomorrow (tomorrow)
'Cause we got all we need today (today)

Living on a feeling
That's been running through our veins
We're the revolution
That's been singing in the rain

As Reese sang her line, Luke couldn't help but smile bigger, as the two of them joined the rest of the band in clapping a beat for the next few verses.

Don't look down
Cause we're still rising
Up right now

After doing a quick swing around his shoulder with the guitar, Luke rushed back over to Reese, as the two of them shared her microphone for the final lines of their song.

And even if we
Hit the ground
We'll still fly
Keep dreaming like we'll live forever
But live it like it's now or never!~

It's now or never!
Now or Never

When hitting their last few notes on the guitars and drums, the little audience they had currently began to applaud. One girl who was cleaning the table in front congratulated them as the bartender in back complimented their sound. Enjoying the applause the band celebrated by laughing, as Reese hugged her co-singer who was more than happy to spin her around after putting his guitar down. "Thank you! We're Sunset Curve!" Reggie said, making sure to wink at the one waitress who seemed to really enjoy their music.

"Too bad we wasted the tightest we've played on the soundcheck!" Bobby said, putting down his rhythm guitar before looking at his friends, making Luke smile even more as he wrapped an arm around Reese's shoulders and shouted. "Wait until tonight, man, when this place gets packed with record execs."

"Alex, you were smoking." Reggie said making the boy blush from the compliment. "Oh no, I was just warming up. You guys were the ones on fire." Not liking his avoidance of the much-earned compliment, Reese shook Lukes's arm off of her and walked towards the taller boy, ignoring the pouting boy behind her. "Like how Reggie would put it, 'could you just own your awesomeness for once?'" The said boy just nodded his head fast, as he pointed at the girl, while the rest of the band just laughed at the duo.

Alex, seeing that he wasn't gonna get away with his selflessness, just smiled at his friend. "All right, I was killing it."

"Ok, well, I'm thinking we fuel up before the show. I'm thinking street dogs." Luke said, only getting nods from two of the four other members. "Really? Street dogs? Come on Luke, we're playing The Orpheum and you want to celebrate with not very sanitary hot dogs from the back of someone's car?" Seeing the boys just stare at her, Reese brought her hand to the bridge of her nose. "Can we also talk about how literally the married couple, who you all are so chummy with, literally spell the word Samonella!"

Luke just rolled his eyes at the paranoid girl and put his hands on her shoulder, "Come on Reese, one more night of normalcy before we're living large. Just one last street dog, please?" He asked as the three boys gave her the one thing that makes her weak, puppy dog eyes. "Fine, but you owe me Patterson."

The said boy, not able to contain himself, pulled her into a hug and spun her again, Reggie feeling left out was close to joining the two, but the blonde and dark-haired boy stopped him, causing the boy to frown. "You got yourself a deal, O'Claire." Luke smiled, when he finally broke away from the hug, as the rest of the group jumped off the stage to get to the designation. As they were heading over to their stuff, Reese noticed her best friend no longer with them but instead heading toward the waitress that Reggie openly flirted with a few minutes ago.

"Hey, Bobby, where you going?" She asked, only to get a hand wave and an I'm good from the said boy as he faced the waitresses, causing the group to slowly join the two. "Vegetarian. I could never hurt an animal."

The waitress gave a forced smile at Bobby, before facing the rest of the group. "You guys are really good." Reese, enjoying the compliment, smiled even bigger and was close to bouncing with excitement. "Thank you." Luke happily said back as he wrapped his arm around Reese, as Rose continued to talk to the five of them. "I see a lot of bands, been in a couple myself. I was really feeling it." She responded back.

Luke, grew even more fond of the girl and could tell that by the end of the night Reese was gonna claim this girl as her honorary friend, which just made Luke smile even more as he waved at the girl.  "That's what we do this for. I'm Luke, by the way."

"Hi, I'm Reggie."

"Alex"

"Bobby"

"Reese"

Rose being friendly herself waved back and introduced herself finally, "Nice meeting you guys, I'm Rose." Only to pull a disgusted look when Luke decides to give Bobby a wet willy.

"Oh, uhh... here's our demo and a T-shirt. Size beautiful." Reggie said attempting to flirt once again, as he handed her the gifts, allowing the rest to groan from their friends' idiocy. Rose trying not to be rude slowly took the shirt. "Thanks." Rose responded noticing the shirt was bigger than her actual size, "I'll make sure not to wipe the tables down with this one."

"Oh, good call. Whenever they get wet, they just kinda..." Alex stopped trying to find the best way to talk about their band shirts without it sounding harsh against them, "Fall apart in your hands." Reese finished, knowing first hand how bad their shirts are due to water. Bobby, who no longer enjoyed their company to turned to the group with a forced smile of his own. "Don't you guys have to go get hot dogs?"

Seeing through his question, Luke pushed forward and said jokingly to Rose, "Yeah, he had a hamburger for lunch." Trying to not laugh, Reese followed behind Luke as they ran away from the funny situation and the glare they were receiving from Bobby.

The back doors slammed open as the four band members walked out with a pep in their step, breathing in the Hollywood air. "That's what I'm talking about!" Luke exclaimed as they paused in the alleyway. "The smell of Sunset Boulevard?" Both Alex and Reese asked, one being more of a joking matter than the other.

With a fake glare, Luke responded with a no, only to laugh as he lead the group down the somewhat lit alleyway. "It's what that girl said in there tonight." Luke praised as he kicked the water puddle in front of him. "About our music, all right? It's like an energy. It connects us with people, they can feel us when we play. I want that connection with everybody."

When saying the last line the teenager couldn't help but sneak a glance at his female friend, who was also staring at him. Seeing the others stare, both looked away trying to hide the little heat that was showing on their cheeks, luckily the other two band members were oblivious to the staredown.

"Then we're gonna need more T-shirts." Reggie stated as he held up two he had in his hand for no reason. "Let's go, boys!" Luke responded, after shaking his head at his goofball of a friend, as three out of the four started to walk forward. Reese who was waiting, let out a cough, gaining the attention of the trio, Luke just smiled and shook his head at his friend before restating. "Let's go, boys and girl." He finished making her smile as she bolted towards him and jumped on his back, not expecting the added weight, Luke let out an oof that was mixed with a laugh as they continued down the alley.

As they crossed the street, they passed some happy fans who were standing in front of the building waiting to be let in for tonight's concert. Seeing two beautiful, excited women Reggie turned back around to face them, presenting the two shirts he had earlier. "Ladies." Confused at first, the two girls took them as they looked at each other before realizing who he was before they started to call him back, hoping to meet him properly causing Reese to laugh and Luke to smile at her adorableness.

"Man... I can't wait until we eat someplace where the condiments aren't served out of the back of an Oldsmobile." Alex said, forgetting Reese was right next to him, as she happily threw her hands out and made eye contact with the drummer. "At least someone agrees with me." Smiling for a brief second, he turned to the male owner. "Hey... sorry, I got some pickle juice on your battery cables."

"No problem. It'll help with the rust." The 'chef' said back looking at the teenager as he slapped his back and laughed it off like it was nothing. Turning around Alex looked at Reese, both holding a confused and somewhat disgusted expression on their faces.

"That can't... ok. What?" Reese attempted to say, only for Alex to shake his head, as all four of them left the weird dude and his wife. Finding an empty couch, that so happened to be in the small, dark alley the three boys sat happily down as Reese attempted to find a chair. Luke sensed the girl was in trouble pulled her down onto his lap, not caring if his cheeks were redder than usual. Though a little surprised at first this was something they would normally do in these kinds of situations.

Once satisfied with the position they were sitting in, Luke shook his head with a cute smile on his face. "This is awesome, you guys. We're playing The Orpheum!" He shouted to the three of them, as he no longer could control his excitement.

"I can't even count how many bands have played here and then ended up being huge. We're gonna be legends!" Luke proudly said before he held his hot dog out. "Eat up, guys and gal." as the three other members joined him, " 'Cause after tonight, everything changes."

As all four of them clinked their hotdogs together, like goblets at a banquet, they took their first bite. While chewing Reese could tell that something was wrong immediately. "That's a new flavor." Alex said unknowingly agreeing with his friend who was still struggling to swallow her first bite.

Seeing how the situation was already bad enough as it is, Reese turned to Reggie, "You better not say anything that might jinx us, Reginald." Pointing at her bandmate, who looked at her confused.

"Chill, Reese. Street dogs haven't killed us yet."

Yay first chapter is now published! I'll try and finish the second chapter today, but it might not be published until tomorrow. Hope you enjoy Chris's story by the way.

I'm a little happier with this chapter as I feel like my writing has improved with this chapter. So, hope you all liked it.
