It's 2 am.
I am in the room now and I cannot sleep. So, I decided to get my stuff, you know photographs and notes. I look onto it for a minute. I saw Kliosate's name again on the first page of my notes. Yeah, I put his name on the first page of my notes, so that if I would open this note his name was the first thing I will remember...as I open this page of my new life. He will forever be my first page on this new chapter of my life. As I was looking in his name I didn't realize my tears started to fall down. So, I decided to go back to sleep.
After a few minutes, I still can't sleep. I remember in times like this, Klio is my sleeping pill.
*FLASHBACK*
It was 3AM and I contacted Klio since I can't sleep because of overthinking.
"Love? What's wrong?" Naririnig ko ang kakagising niya lang na boses. I also heard him yawn.
"I just wanna hear your voice." Pagsisinungaling ko sa kanya
"Just tell me," sabi niya, alam niyang nagsisinungaling lang ako
"I can't sleep," I said to him.
"I knew it," he responded at medyo may narinig akong mga nahulog na gamit. And, I heard someone talks to him.
I can't clearly hear but it sounded like a woman.
"What's that? Where are you?" I asked him.
"Hmm...it's nothing," he answered.
"Who's with you?" tanong ko ulit sa kanya medyo praning akong girlfriend e'.
"It's a Doctor. Actually, I'm at the hospital. Don't worry I'm fine, nothing happened. I just visited my Mom," he explained.
Kliosate always visit his Mom. Sometimes I can observe that he lacks out of sleep, he always said that he visited and took care of his Mom. But, I've never met her. I always wanted to met her but Kliosate wouldn't allow me to. He said she's contagious that's why. He doesn't even want to talk about her mother too.
"Oh okay. Is she okay?" I asked him.
"She's fine," he said
"Anyway, just listen to this." He diverted the topic and started telling me a poem.
"In the field of green grasses,
Its flowers and beautiful bushes,
Its aroma triggers our senses,
Stood a dazzling ladies
One lady got me as this eyes glances
Its utmost beauty leaves you breathless."
My heart flattered everytime with his flowery words, it always helps me to stop worrying and overthinking when I heard him saying those beautiful words to me. It always help me to go to sleep. It's like a lullaby in my ears.
I didn't realize I'm almost sleepy.
"Sleepwell, Love." The last words I heard before my eyes closed.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
"Klio, I can't sleep. I need you," I said while I'm in teary eye remembering those days. Ilang minuto pa bumangon ulit ako sa higaan and open the curtains and windows, since my balcony naman itong room. Nagpahangin muna ako and look at this beautiful full moon. Then, suddenly napatingin ako sa baba and I saw a guy sa labas ng bahay na may kausap sa phone. I decided to took my photos and it was my Doctor Kriogri.
What is he doing out there in this hours?
Dinala ko ang camera ko at photos, bumaba ako at pinuntahan siya habang papalapit ako sa kanya, I heard some of his conversations in the phone.
"Don't tell me what to do! I'm out of your hands anymore." Mukhang nag-aaway sila ng kausap niya.
"I know what I am doing. I know the cost!" usal niya ulit sa kausap niya
"Whatever it is, stop it." Papalapit na ako sa kanya ng biglang napasigaw ako kasi napatid ako. Leyra, napakatanga!
"I'm done with y—" I interrupted him and he hang up the phone.
"K-kanina ka pa ba nariyan?" tanong niya sa'kin at nakakunot ang noo niya.
"Don't worry, wala akong narinig." Pagkukunwari ko sa kanya. Wala rin naman akong pake kasi makakalimutan ko rin naman 'yon.
He sighed. "Do you need anything? Is there something wrong?" tanong niya sa'kin.
"Nothing." 'yon lang ang naisagot ko sa kanya
"I get it. You can't sleep?" tanong niya.
"Yeah...I-I'll go back to sleep now." Tumalikod na ako nang bigla niya akong hinila papalabas nang gate.
"Wait, saan mo ako dadalhin?" tanong ko sa kanya.
"Somewhere you want to be," wika nito at sinakay ako sa kotse niya.
After a few minutes we arrived in a row field of trees, I don't know what kind of trees is this.
"Where are we?" He just smiled at me, I saw his dimples. Bumaba siya nang kotse at pinagbuksan ako.
"See it for yourself," sabi niya at bumaba na ako.
"What kind of trees is this?" I asked him and he picked some fruits of it, wiped it with his clothes and handed me one
"It's a tart cherries," he said.
"You can't sleep right? It's effective way to treat insomnia and increase the amount of sleep you get each night." he explained
"Really?" I asked him.
"Yeah, because tart cherries are naturally rich in melatonin, a hormone responsible for sleepiness," he added and ate some cherries while smiling. Kaya kinain ko na rin yung binigay niya sa'kin
"You need to see this." He grabbed my hands again at hinila na naman niya ako
"Wait, saan mo ba ako dadalhin?" Hindi niya ako sinagot, patuloy lang kami sa paglalakad, parang umiikot-ikot lang kami sa mga puno na ito.
"Sandali, saan ba tayo pupunt—" Napatigil ako. Wow! We were in the peak of Las Haciendas. Tanaw ang ganda ng buong Las Haciendas sakto pa sa liwanag ng buwan.
"What is this place?" I asked him.
"Let's just call it 2 AM view," he said and smiled.
"This is so beautiful!" I utter in awe, at abot tenga ang ngiti ko, because I was amazed with what I have seen right now. I was born and grew up in Las Haciendas but I can't remember and didn't know that this place exist here.
"One of the most beautiful view next to you," Krio said, at nagulat ako sa sinabi niya kaya napatingin ako sa kanya.
"What did you say?" tanong ko sa kanya
"I said what I said I knew you heard it," he said and he smiled, he really looks good when he smile plus with that dimples.
"I mean look at you. I never seen that smile before. It really suits you," he added and I realized he's right. Kaya hinayaan ko na lang siya.
I gazed back at the mesmerizing view and just took some photos.
"I'm sorry," sabi niya kaya napatingin ulit ako sa kanya.
"Sorry?" tanong ko kasi naguluhan ako sa kanya.
"For the argument last night," he said
"Argument?" I asked nakalimutan ko e'. He laughed.
"Yeah, nevermind. Whatever it is, apology accepted," sabi ko sa kanya
"Can I ask you a question?"
"You've already asked." sagot ko sa kanya kaya natawa siya
"Leyra, you got me there...but, seriously why can't you leave everything to the investigators about your boyfriend's case? Why are you doing these all by yourself?" tanong niya sa'kin
"I can't just live this life doing nothing for him. If they can't, I can. The memories of the past still hunts me. Its been 3 years. I don't know but it seems strange. Whatever it is all I wanted is give the justice he deserves. And, I love him. That's the only thing I can do to prove how much I love him until we meet again." I observed Krio's sharp gaze at me.
"He's so lucky to have you. I hope he knows that," he said and looked to the moon. He turned to me again
"If I'll help you with this and the justice is served, would you promise me to finally let go of him and continue living?" tanong niya sa'kin, natahimik ako bigla.
"It takes time but I'll try." Iyon lang ang nasabi ko. Since, nakakaramdam na rin ako ng lamig napansin kong hinubad niya ang suot niyang jacket at maya't maya pinatong sa mga balikat ko. I just looked at him.
"Let's make that happen," he said and smiled at me.
