Veronica
I woke up at 7 in the morning due to loud thunder, it was raining hard outside. When I was young I loved rain but after that incident I hate rain from the core of my heart. I sigh and get up from the bed to go to the bathroom. After doing my morning business and taking shower I got ready by wearing black skinny jeans, white t-shirt and took my favorite black leather jacket and just applied light make-up. I was never a fan of makeup I use only a bit of kohl and mascara to highlight my hazel eyes and a single coat of red lipstick and left my long hairs open to air dry it and came out of my room. When I entered the kitchen I saw Omar sitting on a chair drinking coffee he was also ready when he heard me approaching him he looked up "you good?"
He knows about everything about the reason why I hate thunders and rain "nothing a cup of coffee can't fix" I made myself a cup of coffee and made some toasts for us.
"How was your night?"Omar asked me with a smirk
"It was good but suddenly Gabriele had to go said something about an emergency, what about you?"
"You know I don't want to get laid with others and cheat on her. She is the one for me. It's either her or no one!" he replied with a smile
"You love her so much?" He just nodded.
"So, any new assignment Omar?"
"Nope not yet."
After finishing breakfast we went towards the track. When we reached there everything was quite which was strange, these tracks never sleeps even when it snows or rains people are always there either repairing their cars or doing something but today there is total silence
"What the hell is going on? Nobody is nobody here!" Omar voiced my thoughts
"I was also thinking the same, let's go to Zorawar's office" with that we both went towards his office and knocked on the door before going in. There he was getting ready to go out
"What's happening Zorawar? There is no one here today!" I asked him and saw a pained look on his face
"Someone...someone killed dad yesterday while we were here that's why no one is here today. Everyone is at the mansion and I am also going there, you both should also come!"
We both nodded and came out of the office and went to our cars with Zorawar leading the way. "Who do you think would have done it because it's not easy to kill a former mafia boss and that to Italian one?" I asked Omar
"I don't know but I am getting a bad feeling about it, just be careful" I just nodded.
As we got near the mansion we could see a number of cars parked there, we also parked our car and came out and started following Zorawar. I kept only a gun and knife with me and kept the other weapons in the car. There were men in black everywhere Zorawar asked us to follow to the backyard and we silently followed him. The backyard was also full with people on one side I saw a woman in her late 50s crying and two girls were holding her and the girls were Becky and Natalie. I went towards them they both looked up at me and I saw they were also crying
"Hey, how did this happen?" I asked them
"Don't know how could someone kill him he was such a good man always a father figure to us" Becky said while crying
"Jenny please stop crying you'll get sick, doctor said so much crying is not good for you" Natalie said while consoling her. I never knew how to console crying people so I excused myself and went in search of the boys I saw them near the coffin so I went towards them and stood beside Micah gave me a small nod and Gabriele was also standing there with his jaws clenched anyone could say that he was angry but on a closer look you can see moisture in his eyes.
I couldn't stop the question coming so I blurt it out "how could someone kill him? didn't he had much security?" I expected an angry response from them but instead got an answer from Gabriele
"The same thing we all are thinking but we know one thing that the person was a trained shooter cause he had shot dad point blank and I swear once I find the person I'll personally kill him but not before torturing him" I saw Micah and Kyle nodding
"Don't worry you'll find that person!" I said to them.
Little did I know that I was encouraging him to kill me.
From the corner of my eyes I could see Omar getting restless and he was clenching and unclenching his fingers which is his habit while he is nervous about something but here is nothing to be nervous about. He excused himself and signaled me to follow him so I also excused myself and followed him
"What happened Omar?" I asked him as soon as we were alone
"Do you know who his father is?" He asked me looking tensed
"Of course not, how could I know who was his father! Why? Did we know him?"
"You remember the man you killed yesterday?"
"Yes I remember him he was-" suddenly realization drawn on me
"Sh*t you mean he was Gabriele's father?"
"Yes, now you know why I am tensed!"
"F*ck! It's....huh! Ok listen we can't get caught now understood? We have to stay calm, can't let them even doubt us. Just try to stay normal and don't utter a word to anyone, remember we don't know him and we didn't kill him because if they get to know about us then we are finished Omar, keep that in your mind and let's go out before anyone notices our absence" we went out in the backyard and stood beside the guys since we are now working under him.
After the funeral ended Micah called Becky, Natalie, Kyle and Zorawar to Gabriele office as he wanted to talk to them and asked me and Omar to get back to the tracks. We bid goodbyes and they went inside and we went towards our car but before going to the tracks we had to go to our new apartment. The car ride was filled with silence none of us said anything. As we reached the apartment I asked Omar to call Calvin he is one of our guy whom we call whenever we shift to a new apartment because we need some hidden slots in walls so that I can hide me weapons somewhere and Calvin is our perfect guy. "We need to hide all my weapons mainly the sniper rifles and some knives" I said to Omar and started sorting the guns and knives which were to be hidden. After an hour Calvin was at our place doing his work
"So this time whom you guys killed that you have to change apartments?" Calvin asked us, he may be a good friend but he doesn't know me being the black widow we haven't told him and don't even want to, he just knows that I am a hit man
"No one, it's just now I am a business partner of the elite racers so we had to change apartment so that we are nearer to the tracks and we don't want people to know that I am hit man." He just nodded and after 3 hours all my weapons were hidden in my bedroom floor, my closet wall and the shower tiles. We paid him and after that we went to the tracks and there in my office we both discussed ways to keep the fact hidden that I killed Pablo DiCaprio, Gabriele's father and that I am the black widow. Only Omar knows that I am the black widow and other have just heard the name Black Widow. If the word goes out that I am the Black Widow people would try to kill me because I have killed many people and their families have been looking for me.
We needed to know if they have found anything regarding the matter but we knew that they won't say anything to us so we needed someone to be in their group so that we know what's going on. We decided that since Omar is also a technology guy he will be the one who will work inside their group to know what's going on but for that we needed Gabriele to ask Omar to join them. We needed them to trust Omar.
"Omar you need to join them so that we can get updates about their search for the killer"
"I know but it's not that easy why would they'll include a new guy in their group who has joined them just yesterday? We need to think of some solid plan for that V!"
After sometime an idea struck me "there is a way by which we can do this!"
"And that is?" Omar asked expectantly. After I explained him everything I could say that he was not 100 percent sure of this idea
"Are you sure V? Because this plan could backfire on us!"
"Omar I know this but it's worth taking the risk and at least there is a chance that we could succeed and it depends on us what we will make them see or should I say how much we will show them" after some more discussing Omar agreed and we decided that we will go to meet Gabriele after a few days. With the plan set we went to the tracks.
After reaching there I asked Omar to work on the security and technologies used there and I went towards the garage where guys were fixing their cars as they saw me coming towards them they greeted me in their usual ways
"Hey Veronica welcome back"
"Hey new boss" these were some greetings by the guys.
"Thank you guys for welcoming me now back to business, we have to work on your drifts because by next month we have the group races where racers from different parts of the country will come to race and let me remind you those guys don't play fair they will pass remarks to break you mentally and will drive recklessly to hurt you physically and if I am saying that they are dangerous then guys they are definitely dangerous" as I finished my speech everyone was looking at me with mouths wide open.
I could literally hear them thinking that how could a girl know all these things. The thing is I had also taken part in this race once but got severely injured and Omar got pissed and scared seeing me like that so he made me promise that I would never participate in these races again and seeing him so lost and broken I promised him.
"Will you take part or not?" Someone among the guys asked and all of them were looking at me expectantly waiting for me to confirm
"Yes I will" everyone cheered and I dismissed them and they went towards their cars to do whatever they please. This year I will participate as I had worked hard for this race and this time they will see why everyone calls me the Queen of the tracks but at first I have to tell this news to Omar and I know he will throw a fit about it but he won't be able to change my decision this time.
I went back to my office and was talking on phone with Zorawar when Omar barged into the room
"What the hell is I am listening V? You promised me and you can't break your promise!" I can tell that he had already heard the news and is super pissed right now before I could respond Zorawar's voice came from the other side
"Hey is everything alright?"
"Yes it's alright here I will talk to you later" with that I hung up the phone. Now its time to deal with an angry Omar.
"Omar sit and let me explain!" I asked him nicely
"No Veronica, don't you try to fool me by all these sh*t, tell me why are you doing it? have you forgotten what happened two years ago? Have you?"
"Omar I haven't forgotten anything I remember it all and you know it too well that I don't like to lose and this time I am fully prepared and I can face them and can easily kick their ass-" before I could even complete my sentence Omar again started but this time not so angrily
"V I know but this time I can't see you like that with so many wires attached to your body your face full of cuts-" he chocked on his tears, he gulped back a sob
"no V I can't let you do this" with that he went out but not before slamming the door closed on his way out.
I take a deep breath it hurts to see Omar sad but he has to understand I am doing this for myself to show him that he can't always win, he can break me physically but not mentally I have to tell these things to Omar to make him understand so I took out my phone and called the only person I know who can show Omar the bigger picture here.
The call is received on the first ring "Veronica!"
"April, how are you?"
"I am fine but we all miss you" she said with a sad tone
"I know April I know but you knew how much difficult it was for me stay there anymore, leave it and tell me how are madre (mother) and padre (father)?"
"They are good but they also miss you, when will you come to meet us? You haven't came in two years! "
"Don't know April when I can come there, how is Kevin?"
"Kevin is good and he also misses you, they both can't see eye to eye to each other he hates him"
The talk was getting too emotional for my liking so I had to bring up a new subject "By the way April I need your help so will you help me?" Though I knew it that she is always ready to help me but then also I asked her
"Of course Veronica you know I will always help you c'mon tell me" so I started telling her the whole thing which happened between me and Omar.
After listening everything this April said "you know Veronica how much he cares about you, heck he even cares about you more then he care about me. He is scared he can't see you go through all those pains again"
"I know April but you know why I need to do this!"
"I understand, don't worry I'll talk to him."
"Thanks April, I will talk to you later cuídate hermana (take care sister) and tell madre and padre that I love them"
"Bye Veronica, mantenerse a salvo(stay safe) and take care." With that we both hang up the call.
Omar haven't returned yet, I had completed my work at the tracks and was going back to the apartment. As I opened the front door I saw Omar sitting on the sofa and looks like he was waiting for me. Before I could say something he came forward and hug me
"I am sorry Nica, I know how important this race is to you but then also I shouted at you but you have to understand why I-"
"Omar I know you mean well but believe me I had to do this and what do you think I like to see you worried? No dear no! I hate it when you are so worried about me."
"Ok you really want to participate right?" Omar asked me, I know he was testing me to see how confident I am so I looked into his eyes and said confidently
"Yes I really want to participate!" He released a deep breath
"Ok but Veronica promise me you will be careful and if you feel that something is wrong then you will think of yourself first not about your ego! Promise me!" He looked at me hopefully
"I promise that I'll take care of myself and I'll be safe!" with that we both hugged each other.
While I freshen up Omar prepared dinner, it's our regular routine me and Omar take turns on making dinner so today is Omar's turn to prepare dinner. When I came back to the kitchen the food was already prepared
"What are you making?" I asked Omar
"Nothing special just made some saucy noodles"
"mhmmm yummy, let's eat."
"So, Omar what made you change your mind?" I knew the answer but just wanted to hear it from him, I really love teasing Omar and by the way his ears turned red he knows that I knew the answer
"ummm yeah I uh uh" I just raised my eyebrow in question
"Ok aprilcalledmeandmademeunderstanditall" Omar said in a single breath
"whoa whoa whoa hold on say it again and slowly this time"
"April called me and made me understand it all, now happy? You already knew the answer just wanted me to confess it" Omar mumbled the last part under his breath
"You know I love you but I also know that you love ap-" before I could tease him further his phone rand and guess who it was, it was April. He looked at me and before I can take his phone he snatched it and ran into his room, I didn't went after him after all he also deserves it.
