Hailey's alarm clock went off on the last day of school. She remembered that it was the last day of school.
Unlike her brother, Hailey loves school. She loves to learn new things in class and the social aspect of school. She looks forward to heading to school, but after having to attend school for many months, she just needs a good, long break from school to relax and feel motivated again to go back to school in the fall.
Hailey got out of bed and left her bedroom and headed over to her brothers room.
"Chase!" Hailey said as she took off the blanket off of him. "Come on! Wake up!"
"Oh," he groaned. "Do I have to?"
"Yes," Hailey said. "Come on, get out of bed and get ready."
Chase groaned again. "Okay," he said, sitting up and swinging his legs around the bed. "I'm getting up."
He scratched his head as he stood up and walked over to his closet to pick out something to wear.
"I swear if I have to come back again..." Hailey said as she walked out of her room.
Hailey got ready for the school and went to the kitchen.
"Hey, you're in the kitchen before me," Hailey said in surprise at the sight of Chase in the kitchen.
"Yeah," he yawned.
Hailey and Chase quickly had breakfast and left the house.
The two entered their school and a poorly edited video in a tribute of the fallen Avengers, Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, although it is unknown if he had died or not, Natasha Romanoff and Vision played. I Will Always Love You by Whitney Huston was playing in the video.
The screen then shifted to show Midtown School's news show with Betty Brant and Jason Ionello.
"Gone," Betty said, "But not forgotten."
"Thanks to Kenneth Lim and Vihaan Ramamurthy for their help with that touching video tribute," Jason said.
"This year has been nothing short of-"
"Shit is crazy" Jason said, but his cursing was bleeped out. "It's like, insane."
"Jason," Betty said.
"What?"
"No swearing."
"Yeah, it's like the last day of school, we're good," Jason said.
Chase smirked as he walked past the screen.
"Historic. Over five years ago, half of all life in the universe, including our own Midtown High was wiped from existence," Betty said. "But then eight months ago, a band of brave heroes brought us back. They called it the Blip. Those of us who blipped away came back the same age. But our classmates that didn't blip grew five years older."
"I wish people would stop talking about it," Chase said, his smirk disappearing off his face.
"Yeah, me too," Hailey agreed, "but it happened so recent that..."
"They're still talking about it," Chase sighed.
"Yeah, like my little brother is now older than me," Jason said on the screen.
Jason's comment about his brother caused Chase to smile.
"Yeah, and my sister and I now are the same age," Chase said.
Hailey chuckled.
"Yeah, it's math," Betty said, annoyed. "And even though we had blipped away half way through the school year and had already taken midterms, the school made us start the whole year over from the beginning."
"It's so weird," Chase said.
"Totally unfair," Jason said. "It's not right."
"You're now the same age as me," Chase said.
"But I'm still a few months younger than you, remember?" Hailey reminded him. "You were born in February and I was born in June."
"Right, right," Chase said. "But still, one day, you're five years younger than me and now we're just a few months apart."
Five years ago, Chase was one of the many people who unfortunately died at the snap. It was a day that Hailey could never forget. She had witnessed her older brother disappearing before her eyes.
Five years later, he suddenly reappeared along with the rest of the population of the world that had died.
"Tigers, it's been a long, dramatic, somewhat confusing road. As we draw this year to a close, it's time to move on to a new phase of our lives," Betty said.
"Pray nothing crazy happens again because, are the Avengers even a thing anymore? Does anyone even have a plan?!"
"Betty has a point," Chase said. "It's time to start a new phase."
"Yeah," Hailey agreed. "I'll catch up with you and the others in a bit, Chase."
"Alright," Chase said.
"Bye."
"Later."
Hailey walked away from her older brother and entered a classroom. She dropped her backpack by her usual desk and began to help out in the classroom.
She spotted Peter Parker and she immediately felt butterflies in her stomach. She smiled at the sight of him.
He was in a middle of a conversation with his best friend, Ned Leeds, and Michelle Jones, who is now going by MJ.
She walked over to them.
"What's up, guys?" Hailey greeted them. "Excited about the trip?"
"Hey, Hailey," Peter said, nervously. "Um, yeah. We were just talking about the trip."
"Yeah, and Peter's plan," Ned added.
Hailey looked at Peter and Ned confused.
"You have plan?" MJ asked.
"I don't - I don't have a plan," Peter denied.
"No, he's just going to collect tiny spoons while we're traveling to other countries," Ned quickly said.
He turned to face Peter and winked at him.
"Like a grandmother?" MJ asked.
Hailey couldn't help but chuckle.
"I'm not collecting tiny spoons," Peter said. "Ned is the one who's collecting the spoons."
"Oh," Hailey said. "Okay. That was... uh..."
"A real roller coaster," MJ said.
She turned to leave but stopped and turned back.
"By the way, travel tip for you guys, you should probably download a VPN on your phone, just so that the government can't tack you while we're abroad."
"You sound like my brother," Hailey said.
"Yeah," Peter agreed. "That sounds like something Chase would say. But that's smart. We will do that."
Ned nodded in agreement.
"I have a VPN because of Chase," Hailey assured MJ.
"Out - out of curiosity," MJ said, "where is Chase?"
"Oh, um, he's outside of the class," Hailey said, "with our friends."
MJ smiled and nodded.
"Thanks," MJ said before leaving.
"Can - can I join you guys?" Hailey said.
"Yeah," Peter said, "sure."
Ned smirked.
"So, Peter, what really is your plan?" Hailey asked.
"Oh, um, it's - it's nothing," he stuttered. "It's a stupid plan."
"No plan is stupid," Hailey said.
"It's not important," Peter said.
"It is important," Ned said.
"Stop, Ned," Peter whispered.
"Hey, Hailey!" Chase said from the door.
Hailey turned around.
"What?"
"Come on," Chase said, "we're getting coffee and juice from the cafeteria."
"Oh, okay, go ahead, I'll catch up."
Chase nodded.
He left the classroom and rejoined their friends.
"I'll see you guys in a bit," Hailey smiled at Peter and Ned and stood up.
She waved goodbye to them and walked away and joined her brother and friends.
"Hey, guys," Hailey greeted her friends.
"Hey, Hailey," Elizabeth LeBlanc greeted Hailey.
"Hi," Maddie List said, smiling at Hailey.
"How's it going, Hailey?" Justin West asked.
"Alright," Hailey said, shrugging. "Oh, shit, I left my wallet in my backpack," she remembered as they grew closer to the cafeteria.
"I've got you covered," Chase assured her.
"I'll pay you back when we get back to class."
Chase nodded.
They got drinks from the cafeteria and headed to class. The line was slightly shorter than usual, but it was a relief. They didn't have to wait as long as they used to.
"Did MJ come talk to you?" Hailey asked Chase.
"Yeah," Chase said. "Why?"
"I don't know, she asked where you were," Hailey shrugged.
"O - oh. What about you and Peter Parker?" Chase asked. "Is there - is there anything going on between you?"
"We're just friends, Chase," Hailey said, sensing her brothers protectiveness surfacing.
"Are you sure?" Chase asked. "I know that you have a crush on him."
"I don't have a crush on him, Chase," Hailey said, her face turning red.
"Oh, really?" Chase said. "Hey, Maddie."
"Yeah?" Maddie turned to Chase and Hailey.
"Do you think Hailey has a crush on Peter Parker?" Chase asked.
"Oh, yeah," Maddie said. "It's quite obvious."
"I don't have a crush on him," Hailey denied. "We're just friends."
"Said every person ever," Chase said.
"What about you and MJ, Chase?" Maddie asked.
His face turned as red as Hailey's face.
"Nothing is happening between me and her," Chase said. "Plus, I don't think she's into you."
"Oh, she definitely is," Hailey said.
"Oh, yeah," Maddie agreed.
"How can you tell?"
"I can tell just like how you and I can tell that Hailey and Peter have a crush on each other," Maddie said.
"Peter has a crush on me?" her voice sounded almost hopeful.
"Oh, yeah," Chase said, casually. "It's obvious. Haven't you noticed how nervous he gets when he's around you? And doesn't he try to start a conversation with you whenever he can?"
"Either way," Maddie said, "you guys have crushes on MJ and Peter but are too stubborn to admit it."
"Am not," Hailey and Chase said in unison, clearly offended.
Maddie smiled and rolled her eyes at them.
The last day of school went by pretty quick.
As soon as the day ended, the students of Midtown High rushed out of school and headed home.
Hailey and Chase had plans with their friends to go get pizza and hang out before they headed home to finish packing for their trip.
