Cooper watched the two boys prepare for their hiking trip or rather, as they like to call it, "foraging" trip. Now, Cooper knows, he spent a lot of time in the lab and most probably missed out on the latest craze and things kids were interested in lately. But, there's a big but, he's pretty darn sure that whatever kids did nowadays, they still enjoyed playing with Pokemon who are right there, present with them. They do not just decide to go foraging in a wild area and ignore the Pokemon present to play with them. Not to forget, said Pokemon were currently helping them pack their essentials. Who knew they would be very good helpers in packing stuff? Cooper was holding a video camera that was recording it all.
Cooper, 'No one will want to believe this even with this recording and proof. Even Trix's Charizard is into this! She's gonna flip when I show her.'
Ash turned to Cooper, "Mr Cooper! Do you want us to pack a specific type of lunch for you?"
Cooper held the vid cam, "What are you making?"
Gary answered, "Sushi and egg rolls for us, tomato flavoured poke food with extra tomatoes for Pikachu, berry flavoured ones for Eevee and spicy and sweet one for Magmar here. Not sure what your Houndoom and Hitmontop like though."
Cooper hummed, "I'm good with the sushi and egg rolls as long as there's no shrimp. I'm allergic to those. Houndoom loves chicken and apples while Hitmontop enjoys cinnamon and nut flavours."
Ash smiled, "Got ya! Just give us a few minutes to grab some bottles and we can go."
Cooper smiled at the two kids, "Sure kiddos."
Cooper watched them as his old friend Houndoom walked over to him and nudged him, "Hey buddy ~ Looks like we're gonna babysit and have an adventure at the same time."
Houndoom rumbled in his throat, he was looking forward to this. It had been far too long since his partner was cooped up in the lab. He needed to go out once in a while, his other teammate, Hitmontop joined him and stood beside them. The rest of their team were doing their own thing in different regions.
Pokemon pov:
Hitmontop, -They are interesting children.-
Houndoom, -Indeed, I wonder if our partner is actually ready for who we will meet out there.-
Hitmontop, -Nope, he's not, but it'll be good for him.-
Magmar from outside hollered, -Relax, they just want to meet the cubs.-
Pokemon pov end!
Houndoom nodded his agreement, his partner was not a normal trainer when he was younger although, he started from the same point as the rest of them. The league had seen his potential and when he was only fifteen years of age, he had been picked to be trained for battle. Not the gym or poke battles, but for life and death battles. He had been a fighter and an informant for the league for 20 years, still was and it worried the two of them.
Ash smiled as he walked up to them, "We're ready to go, Mr Cooper."
Gary, "Yup, we got all the things we need now."
Cooper smiled, the two of them were just adorable, "Alright let's go ~ Oh! And just call me Cooper okay. None of this Mr stuff."
Ash, "Sure Cooper."
Gary, "Okay!"
Cooper led the kids out of the lab where the wild Magmar was waiting for them. The Magmar nodded and lead the way to the wilder side of the volcanic island. Cooper wanted to say something about that but held his tongue as he followed the kids who followed the Magmar. Houndoom stayed close to Gary and Eevee while Hitmontop stayed near Ash and Pikachu. Cooper realised they were in a diamond formation with the two children in between them.
Cooper shook his head, 'Focus Cooper, you are just here to do one thing and that's recording.'
Pikachu was chattering with Hitmontop and informing him of the things his trainer loved to collect. It ranged from evolution stones to different plants to miscellaneous items like an old Pokeball to a bottle of heal potion. Hitmontop was listening to his stories intently and when Eevee piped up with the incident when they met the three Mew siblings, he did not know whether to believe it or not. His partner Houndoom was in a similar state and when he looked at the wild Magmar he could see in his expression that he expected it from a mile wide. Both Houndoom and Hitmontop looked back at their human partner and Cooper looked at them confused at the look he was receiving. The Pokemon shook their heads and pointed to a clearing instead.
Cooper looked around the clearing around them, "We can camp here and use it as a point for us to rest."
Gary, "Sounds good to me."
Ash and Gary set up a picnic table and kept the food bags on it. They started to explore the area after that, they first started with the surroundings then started to slowly go up the volcanic mountain. As they moved around and explored the area they did not realize they were being watched. The two Lords watched the children explore the place they were in.
Pokemon pov:
Moltres, -Hmm! How interesting ~-
Entei, -What is interesting?-
Moltres, -The children! One has active powers and the other well, he has powers but it is not active. Not yet at least.-
Entei, -You are right about that. They have become more interesting, haven't they?-
Moltres purred, -I'm actually looking forward to shocking the older human, however.-
Entei rumbled amused, -It is always amusing to watch them be awed and amazed isn't it?-
Moltres, -Come Brother! We must greet them. They are getting closer.-
Entei got up from his perch from where he was watching and prepared to jump down.
Pokemon pov end!
Ash and Gary were collecting some of the plants that were growing on the island. The plants ranged from the Hibiscus and multi colored roses to fruits like grapes, pokeberries and bananas etc. Cooper just watched them as they went around collecting items that caught their attention. At one point Gary even found a mega stone that left him stumped.
Gary held the stone up, "What stone is this? I didn't find it in any book!"
Cooper looked at the stone that was being held towards him, "That's a mega stone. There is not much known about them except you need a keystone to use it."
Gary's face scrunched up making Cooper want to pinch his cheeks and coo at him, "You keep it, then."
Cooper snapped out of his mental cooing, "What? But you found it kid."
Gary, "I don't know what it does though. You guys research these things right? You can figure out what it does and tell me instead?"
Cooper looked at Gary before sighing softly, "Alright kiddo, if that's what you want. I promise, I'll tell you everything I learn about it."
Gary grinned at Cooper, "Great! Now Ash is almost done collecting the fruit samples he wants. We are thinking about returning to camp for late lunch."
Cooper looked at his watch, "Man! We are late, aren't we? Huh! I didn't realize lunch hour had already passed."
Ash who had walked over from his jaunt laughed, "Not the first time it happened. We usually have our parents Pokemon to remind us to eat back home. If your Hitmontop had not pointed out the time to me, I would not have realized how late we were either."
Hitmontop nodded giving his trainer a look that screamed, 'See! They listen when we tell them it's time to eat and rest. Why can't you? We worry about you, you know!'
It made Cooper feel like he was being scolded. They decided to go back to the camp and started their trek back to where they had left their food with Houndoom who had decided to relax instead of running around like a pup learning about it's environment. Houndoom opened his eyes as he watched his trainer and the two human pups return. He spied a few wild fire types quietly following the two but did nothing. Gary took out plates for the five Pokemon with them as well as extras. Cooper looked at him with a curious look but said nothing about it instead helping Ash prepare plates for the three of them.
After a while Gary called out to the forest around them, "Alright you guys! These plates of Pokefood are for you, come and have it."
Cooper looked up from the plates Ash was filling up for them with food, at Gary and watched in wonder when six wild Pokemon came out to join them to eat. There was a Vulpix, two slugma, one Numel and two Cyndaquil. He didn't even know there was a Numel on Cinnabar. He would have to report this to his boss, they only knew there was a Camerupt that belonged to a trainer that passed by here once. She had stayed for a month on the island. It is possible she abandoned the little guy here. He frowned thinking about it, but smoothened his face when Gary joined them for lunch.
Gary spoke up eating his sushi, "That Numel is young."
Cooper answered, "What makes you say that?"
Gary fiddled with his chopsticks, "I saw the two Cyndaquil there sit with his egg between them till he hatched. I didn't want to scare them though, so I stayed at a distance watching them till they noticed me. When they did I gave the berries I had collected to them. The little guy ate it up."
Ash hummed, "That's why the three of them have been following you around although at a distance."
Gary nodded, "Yeah! I'm glad the little guy was not alone."
Cooper smiled, "You talk like this happened before."
Gary looked at him, "It did, Eevee here hatched from an egg we found abandoned in the forest and his egg was not the only one. We found a Pidgey, Poliwhirl and even an egg of a Swablu."
Cooper frowned at where this was going, "Looks like we need to talk to trainers about not abandoning their eggs in the wild. That is not how you treat Pokemon."
Ash spoke up, "Professor Oak said the same thing."
Gary nodded, "Yeah and he was pretty angry too."
They finished their lunch with Ash and Gary telling Cooper about their adventures in Pallet town. Cooper didn't believe it when they mentioned Mew but when Gary showed him a picture of three different coloured Mew playing with the Pokemon he believed them. As they were cleaning up they heard a roar coming from above them.
Magmar smirked, -They got tired of waiting after all.-
Houndoom gave him a look, -You were seriously going to make them wait?-
Magmar shrugged and approached Ash and Gary. He beckoned them closer to him before turning to two silhouettes that were coming down the mountain. Cooper looked up and picked up the video camera with dread wondering which Pokemon was coming. As they got closer his apprehension turned to disbelief. He couldn't believe what he was seeing in front of him and pinched his arm earning a 'WTF' look from Hitmontop.
Entei and Moltres reached the clearing the humans and Pokemon were in. Entei gave a roar while Moltres gave a screech as they descended. Ash and Gary looked at the two with sparkly eyes while Cooper was holding the camera with a dumbfounded expression. Entei and Moltres were enjoying the different reactions the humans had.
Ash spoke up, "Wao! That was so cool."
Gary nodded, "Yeah! Pretty cool."
Cooper mumbled, "I am so happy I came here. But man! The others are gonna flip."
Pikachu and Eevee looked at the newcomers warily. They had a very familiar mischievous glint in their eyes. A glint they had previously seen in the eyes of the Mew trio. They stuck like glue to their partners wandering where this would go.
