When I was ten i could barely do anything by myself except eat, cry and wear really uncoordinated clothing and most importantly complain about something really stupid.
Now Sam here is telling me that his Ten year old sister hacked a high class security system.
"I don't believe you" I say doubtfully.
"You don't have to" She says twirling her spoon
"Wynn you hacked a top of the class security system how are you not freaking out?" I was definitely freaking out.
How can she feel indifferent about it? what the heck do they teach children these days?!
"It's not big deal" She yawned.
"What about the security details how did you get past them?" I asked my curiosity peaked up a noch.
"Sam handled that he even knock one out which was cool" Wynn said I couldn't detect sarcasm in her tone even though I was desperately hoping she was being sarcastic or joking atleast.
"It's no big deal his form was off" was all he said
I am becoming terrified, first a ten year old hacks a high tech security system and now a six year old knocks out a grown man who has been specifically trained in defense.
What the actual heck .
"This must be a prank, hahaha are there cameras around here" I asked going round my small kitchen checking the cupboards and shelves for any hidden camera or Mic.
"What are you doing?"
The kids stared at me weridly like I was crazy.
"You can come out now, I know what's going on" I yelled out expecting a bunch of camera guys to come out holding mics and stuff and tell me this is all a big joke.
"Who can come out now?. Are you feeling ok?" Wynn asked concern written all over her face.
"The prank show you guys hired, Hey I'm on tv" I waved randomly in the air
"It's no prank."
"Wynn you and your baby brother hacked a security system and got past trained professionals,I should be terrified but it's bad ass"
Adam who had been watching the whole scene unfold speaks for the first time.
I whacked him hard on the head.
"Ow must you always hurt me" He whined and I just glare in response.
Taking a deep breath to gather myself I sit on the closest stool.
I honestly can't believe a ten year old can do that I could barely pass middle school not to talk of hack.
Sam's case is something else he knocked out a grown man.
"I have to call your father, he must be worried sick" I say getting up to check for my phone.
"Please no we don't want to go back" Sam begs.
"Atleast let me tell him that you are safe and would be staying over to ease his mind you have been gone for more than a day he must be losing it" I reasoned with them.
"Fine but we aren't leaving" Wynn protests stubbornly and Sam nods in response.
"I'm scared" Adam whispers to me as I way about leaving the kitchen and I elbow him.
"You are a grown up you chicken." I rolled my eyes leaving the kitchen to find my phone
I enter the living room to check for my phone which I later found wedged between the couch and the coffee table, my apartment was a mess but that wasn't my priority at the moment.
I search for Mr Smiths number since I don't have Xavier's and dialled it.
It rings but no response so I left a message.
"Hello Mr Smith. It's sage, I need you to call me back immediately you get this, it's really important and it's about the kids."
And I left it as that before going to prepare for work seeing as it was nearly seven thirty.
"Kids I'm off too work, you are to stay inside don't go anywhere, Wynn you're in charge"
"Hey" Adam protest.
"You have an issue Peterson take it up with her" I say jerking a thumb in Wynn's direction.
Adam turns to face her but his face becomes terrified as she smirks.
"Nah I'm good" He gulps.
"I'll be back soon there's money on the counter love you" I bid them fare well and headed to the office the only thing on my mind was what the actual heck.
I could barely focus as my attention kept on drifting off to the kids.
Sam is some sort of ninja and Wynn is a freaking genius.
I wasn't bothered at all when Andre came rambling about his marketing idea that's way over our budget.
I had relayed the idea to the head of marketing, Danielle, who was completely against it.
"We can't risk that much money to advertise designs no one wants to buy not even my grandma what's Andre thinking" She complains.
"You can leave I'll talk to Alice about it".
"Sure thanks".
" What's on your mind?, You don't seem like the normal you." Danelle asks her black hair shining as the sun reflected on it .
Why can't I have normal hair that doesn't tangle much and why can I have cute fluffy curly.
"It's nothing, I didn't get much sleep" I replied which was the truth as I couldn't sleep properly on that darn couch.
She brush her hand through her hair to get it out of her face, I know If I did that I'll lose hair a chunk of hair that's why I always leave my hair in a bun or ponytail.
I need to take better care of my hair.
"You're thinking about my hair again" She laughed.
"How did you know?" I gasp
Is she a mind reader?.
"First of all no, I'm not a mind reader you keep staring at my hair and you said your thoughts out loud" .
I blushed furiously .
"No worries. Take" she hands a bag over to me.
I took it skeptical and go through it's contents.
"What are these?" I ask still going through the products.
"They are the hair products I use though I had some changed because of the texture of your hair, you should try them out" she says to me
"Wow thank you so much"
"That's what friends are for"
I was definitely grateful until she utters her next sentence.
"My friend needs a date for a function. Can you please go?" She pleads.
I knew it she was trying to set me up.
"No"
"Come on, he's a cool guy please you'll have fun and you haven't been with a guy since forever".
It was too good to be true.
I huffed stubbornly "no way"
"Come on, I'll get you your favorite subway" She tries to bargain and I reply with a glare.
"For the rest of the month?" she adds unsure.
If only I wasn't a sucker for subway I would have denied her but subway was the key to my stomach.
"Fine, When is this function?" I asked to which she squeal in delight.
"You won't regret it, it's this Thursday I'll let you leave early"
I'm sure she's more excited than I am
"Do I need to dress fancy or something" I asked not ready to go shopping.
"Not really, I'll have a dress delivered to your apartment don't worry your little head" she smiles at me. Her joy evident even though she trys not to show it.
I got back to work after munching the Subway courtesy of Danielle.
Who doesn't like free food.
I finished up early and left early, I was getting worried because Mr Smith never returned any of my calls even though I had called him a gazillion times more.
I would have to take the kids to Xavier myself then.
There was a lot of commotion at my apartment building confused and scared because the kids were inside.
I rushed into the apartment building running up the stairs even though my body screamed at me.
I eventually got to my floor only to meet a broken down door and to see police men scattered around my small living room.
Wynn and Sam were in tears and Adam was arguing with one of the police men he looked as if he was ready to punch someone.
"What's going on here" I ask worried something bad had happen to the kids, they both ran towards me and engulfed me In a hug.
"Are you Miss Sage Delrico?" One of the officers asks.
"Yes" I replied looking around my apartment which looked way more messier than before chairs and tables turned over my door broken down.
Adam looked like a mess his normally neat hair was dishelved.
"You are under arrest".
