Levin POV
Another dream.
I fell asleep in the car with Yomo... but now I'm faced with the question from those two again scares me. They face me, in the middle of them is Arata, long dead dove that was killed months ago.
I can't seem to have a normal dream, always the same nightmare every time I close my eyes. My ghoul self stares at me with a lunatics smile and starts to walk towards me, and I flinch, making him chuckle.
"Oh, are you scared of me?" He said with that raggedy voice of his.
My human self walks past me and in front of me, frowning at my ghoul self. "Leave him alone, he's not ready to answer yet." He said, glancing back at me.
My ghoul self frowned past him and at me. "Why are you being a pussy? Come on, I know you want to~. Just let me out and I'll take care of all your enemies!" He said.
"What the hell do you mean, take over?!" I yell at him.
Ghoul smirks. "Tch, talking back now? You tell him, I'm not in the mood." He said pointing at My human self.
Human sighed, glancing at me and looking at the ceiling. Even my other personalities have the habit of staring upwards when thinking. But what's he thinking about? How to explain the question to me.
"Let just say... what do you want to be... a human or a ghoul?" He asked, crossing his arms.
I froze up. My voice seemed lost and the room that was pure white began to crumble again, I'm waking up. Which do I want to be? I've never thought about it. Ghoul or human? Which would I be better as?
I look at human, but he already disappeared into the black. I quickly turn to ghoul, he smiled, half of his body already gone. "who are you, Levin Seto?"
. . .
I open my eyes, my whole throat and forehead covered in sweat. Where am I? I slowly turn my head around, I feel me still laying on the leather seats of the car. I turn to my left, Yomo driving silently.
Why am I seeing those every night? Most of the time, they just ask me the same questions over and over again, but now I was finally able to ask a question, and then they counter with that.
My head pounded.
I clench my head and Yomo glances over. "Are you alright?" He asked.
I squint out the window, my vision almost blind for moments. Am I alright? I have no idea really. I stare at the stores passing us by, and I turn to Yomo, my stomach growling.
"Can we stop at a fast food place or something, I need to get something in my stomach." I asked, feeling a bit guilty asking a ghoul to lend me money to eat human food.
Yomo nods. "Sure, but you mind if you go in by yourself, it'll look suspicious if I go in and don't order anything." He said.
"Yeah, no problem... thanks." I murmur.
Yomo really was a reliable guy. I should do something to repay him later.
I sigh and get out of the car, slowly walking into the fast food restaurant and standing in the line. I look at my watch, it's still around eleven, so I only fell asleep for about an hour in the car. Why does it have to be such a long drive to the Nest and Re? My luck.
What ward am I in right now? I frown and glance around me, well, this place has a lot of people... so maybe fifteen or sixteen?
"Sir, are you going to order?" Asked the girl at the cashier, nervously.
I flinch and notice that the lines deteriorated and that I was next. I walk forward, my face flushed a bit from not noticing the line was gone. The people around me seemed to be impatient, giving me the eye.
I look at the menu and quickly say, "Two cheeseburgers and a lemonade, please." I said, grabbing a cup for my drink.
The girl nods, her hair pulled into a ponytail, a brunette. She looked American, maybe European. I get to the side a little. Might as well have a conversation.
"So, where are you from, your not Japanese." I said.
The cashier looked over at me, surprised to see me talking to her. She suddenly sneered and frowned at me. "Stop trying to hit on me, it's gross." She said.
I flinch. "Hit on you- What made you think I was hitting on you? I just met you... actually, I haven't met you, your some cashier girl that's pissy with her customers if they ask a simple question." I said, making her shut up.
It's funny really, that I can have a normal conversation with people like this. Well, as normal as one can get having a conversation like this. I walk away with my food and bite into the burger, flavor of cheese around meat and ketchup filling my mouth.
I haven't had a good burger in awhile.
I'm about to walk out of the fast food place when I bump into a man. I take a step back, muttering an apology, but freeze when I see who it is.
"No, it was my fault." Said the young man. His hair half black and half white and a kind smile on his face.
This man... is the one from back at the kidnapping... the investigator that I almost got into a fight with. I gulp, thinking I'm done for once he notices who I am.
But he looks at me confused. "Are you okay?" He asked.
I flinch. That's right, he didn't see my face because of my mask, and my voice filter I used made my voice sound filtered. I smile at the man, trying not to act nervous.
"Y-Yeah, sorry I bumped into you." I said quickly, walking past him and three other investigators with him. One had dark green hair and an eye patch, looking very feminine, but I think it was a male. The second had long blonde hair, with sharp teeth and a raggedy voice. The third had black hair and a mole underneath one of his eyes.
The black haired one glares at me. "He giving you trouble, Sasaki?" He asked with a very dark tone.
I took a step back. "S-sorry, I have to go now." I said quickly.
I turned and exited the door quickly. My god... I didn't know I would run into doves there. Well, I just seemed like a normal person because what ghoul would order fast food? I smile, thinking I'm pretty lucky.
I slip back into the car, ignoring Yomo's stare. He obviously saw the doves walking into the restaurant, and wanted to know if something happened.
I sipped on my lemonade. "No, nothing happened. Just the same guy I ran into back at the old refinery." I explained.
Yomo flinched, looking at the restaurant with a longing I didn't quite understand. He then turned the engine on and went onto the high way once again.
Does he know that dove or something? When did they meet before this?
. . .
I walk into the cafe with a smile but it turns into a nervous one once I see Touka at the register, glaring at me. She looked as if she'd just got out of bed, and her hair wasn't as tidy as it should be. I walk up behind the register with her and smile.
"It's nice to see you again, Touka." I said. I have to play human while I'm here, I remembered that. She still thinks I'm a human, and I don't know how she'll react to me being... me.
Touka snorted. "Shut up and get your uniform on, I don't need your happy go lucky attitude right now." She said.
I laugh nervously as I enter the back and head to my room. Once I get inside I instantly start to change into my uniform and head back out front, just like before. I pass Yomo in the hall, he has his uniform on as well, making him look the part of a bartender.
Once I enter the cafe, I know instantly that something was different. Touka was getting orders from people, but seemed to be... having trouble.
A man laughed, hiccuping. "Come on, all I want is to see under that pretty skirt~!" He said, drunk.
I get out from the counter and walk over, Touka unable to reply, I walk in between them and glare at the man, and whisper into his ear, my ghoul side coming out a bit.
"If you bother this girl again, I'll see that your body is never discovered by anyone but maggots in the earth, got me?" I whispered.
The man had wide eyes, and nodded very quickly. I smile regularly after, innocently. "Now what was your order?" I said.
The man ordered nervously and I left with Touka back to the counter. She glanced at me with a frown. "I had that." She mumbled.
"Didn't look like it, but he won't do it again, if he does..." I pick up a knife and grin. "Well, he'll be having a talk with me."
Touka half smiled. "Y-your a bit scary sometimes." She said.
"Really? In a way I think it's funny." I said with a smile, chuckling a bit.
The rest of the day went on like usual, no others tried to hit on Touka, so I didn't have to threaten anyone about eating dirt. And soon I was back in my room staring at the ceiling. Thoughts racing through my mind, all rotating around one question...
Who am I?
