Yeah readers matter
Honestly I dont like all those authors that dont reply to some comments readers make
Ok the author might be busy but when you arent find time to appreciate your readers
In general people should learn to appreciate there is a word called THANK YOU

Its nots so hard honestly and it actually encourages the person to want to read your book further
But if the author doesn't reply doesnt mean he or she doesnt care maybe he or she is busy and all
