Chapter 1 | Hey asshole!
I hate alarms.
Why would someone invent such a horrible thing? As if waking up isn't bad enough but now you have to wake up to the obnoxiously loud sound of the alarm every morning.
Thank you Levi Hutchings for inventing alarms.
I willed myself out of bed and made my way to my washroom. Shivering slightly, I stuck my hand in and waited until the water became warm, then smiled as the warm water encompassed me. After 15 minutes, I got out and wrapped myself in a towel.
Okay Bella think, it's your first day of school, everyone is gonna be judging...what do you wear? Something cute...something cute...ou sweats! Jackpot!
I took the grey sweatpants out and admired them...hello my trusty friend. I glanced over at the clock and my heart sped up, he'll be here in 10 minutes...shit!
I hurried picked out a long white top and my white air force and dressed up,
7 minutes remaining...
I ran to the washroom and put on my makeup which consisted of only mascara, lipgloss and concealer to hide the bruises. I put my black hair up into a messy bun, ignoring the several strands sticking up all over the place. That'll do...first impressions are overrated.
5 minutes remaining...
I ran to my bed and fixed it and double-checked my room to ensure I didn't miss anything.
2 minutes remaining
I ran downstairs with my bags, grabbed a banana and ran out before he caught me.
30 seconds...
I searched for the keys and my eyes widened...oh God. I stared at the house as if it were a giant venus flytrap then I tiptoed back in, I heard the loud footsteps thudding and quickly grabbed the keys to get out.
5 seconds...
I saw the light in the living room flicker on and I stepped on the pedal and drove away from the house. That was close.
I checked the time and saw that it was 6:00 am so I drove to the nearest coffee shop which was called The Palm Tree Diner. I got out of the car and felt the humid air around me.
California sure is beautiful.
I parked the car and went in. The scent of coffee filled my nostrils. I looked around, there was nobody here besides the cashier. The walls of the cafe were painted with palm trees and there was an entire wall that was painted as the beach. There were string lights that hung around the diner. I ordered my favourite drink which was a mocha frappuccino then made my way to the corner of the petite coffee shop and checked the time once again. I still had thirty minutes before I had to leave so I took out a book and started reading.
I chuckled to myself, why do the girls ALWAYS fall for the bad boy honestly!?
Puh-lease...love is so overrated.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see that happen in real life but unfortunately, it only happens in books. Besides, love is just a myth or as Hardin Scott said 'Love is just a transaction. We're all hardwired to desire. We present the correct set of desirable traits and boom! We can turn it on or we can turn it off.' I got up after glancing at the time and made my way to my black Chrysler.
I pulled up at the school not too long after. Luckily for me, the parking lot was basically empty so I parked in the one nearest to the school and went inside. I was early so I decided to take the time to look around the school before getting my schedule from the office.
Walking down the now-empty halls of the school, I couldn't help but contrast it to how cramped it'd be once the student arrived. I peered inside the classes and saw the neatly arranged desks, a chem lab and a music room. After a while, I went to the office to get my schedule.
"Hi, I'm a new transfer student. I was hoping I could get my schedule" I said to the bored-looking woman. She had glasses on and her blonde hair was in a bun. She wore a black blazer with a white blouse which was slightly revealing since she unbuttoned the top.
Someone's desperate.
"Here you go," she said without so much as a mere glance. "Thank you," I said and she grunted
Ooookay then...
The first-period bell rang and I walked to my first class of the day. I noticed that the class was still empty so I made my way to the back of the class and sat in the chair there. I was lost in a daydream of a world where I was born with all the knowledge I needed and school didn't exist when I was startled by a loud bang on my table. I looked up and saw a...woah okay he's hot not gonna lie.
"You're in my seat," he raised his brow while frowning and there was a hint of aggressiveness in his voice.
I don't like you.
"Funny, I don't see your name anywhere on it, guess you must be mistaken." I heard a few gasps and rolled my eyes. He stood there stunned for a few seconds before glaring at me and I returned it with a fake smile. "She's right bro your name isn't on it," another hot boy said.
Did I not get the memo?
He glared at me harder and I ignored him and turned away. "Don't mind him, he's just grumpy today. I'm Ethan by the way" He held out his hand and I shook it "I'm Isabella but you can call me-" "Izzy?" "...sure?" He smiled and sat down and we talked until the teacher walked in.
Why are all these girls glaring at me?
"Hello class, we have a new student today" he ushered me to stand up, I wanted to protest and say I didn't need a grand intro but I obeyed and stood up. "Everyone meet Isabella Evans."
"I prefer Bella," I said and he apologized "Tell us a bit about yourself Bella"
Kill me now...no seriously I'll pay you.
"I just moved from Michigan and I'm 17," I sat back down. I could feel my face getting hot and the teacher must have noticed my discomfort because he went on with the lesson. I was really hoping to keep a low profile this year.
About five minutes to the end of class, Ethan and the rude guy left without muttering anything to the teacher.
The bell rang and I got out of my seat when I felt a tap on my shoulder "Hi!" The girl said rather cheerfully "I'm Alison and this is Tessa" "Hi" I said. "Anyway, we just wanted to say welcome to our school. We were wondering, would you like to sit with us?" Alison asked, "uh sure, thanks!" "Great! Now that that's settled, are you crazy? You must be a lunatic!" Tessa exclaimed causing a few heads to turn our way.
"I'm sorry?" "What she means is, just talked back to Dylan McCarthy, if you wanted to die putting a kill me sign would've been better because if he doesn't, the others might," Alison explained
"Exactly, you don't mess with those guys, I mean it's fine if they wanna hook up with you but mess with them and you can kiss your social life goodbye." "I'm confused" Alison rolled her eyes and explained "At this school and well like every other high school there is a hierarchy, the boy who's seat you sat in belongs to Dylan who is top of the social ladder along with Tyler and Ethan. They run this school and that's no joke."
...wow...
"Aren't you exaggerating just a tad?" They gasped then all of a sudden the halls were silent, I turned around and saw three hot boys and I mean hot as in even the sun doesn't come anywhere near how hot they were. The boys walking were Ethan, Dylan and the other who I'm guessing is Tyler.
The one on the right was Ethan, he had dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes, he wore black sweatpants, a white shirt and a black and white checkered drawstring jacket with was unbuttoned. He paired it with a black chain and I noticed a tattoo on his neck when he winked at a group of drooling girls. 'Carpe Diem' was the tattoo he had.
The one on the left who was Dylan had gray eyes and black hair, he wore a black leather jacket on top of a plain white t-shirt and black ripped jeans. He had on an expensive-looking gold watch paired with a gold chain. I had noticed his tattoo earlier when he walked to fin his desk. His tattoo was the word materialistic crossed out and underneath was idealistic. He had his at the back of his neck.
The one in the middle who I presumed was Tyler had blue eyes and brown hair, he wore black ripped jeans and a black shirt which was covered with a black leather jacket. He had on a silver chain and I noticed his ear piercings.
I was unable to get a clear view of his tattoo before I suddenly crashed to the floor, my papers flying everywhere "Watch where you're going, Jesus!" The middle one (Tyler) said and kept walking. "Hey, asshole! Didn't anyone ever teach you not to be rude to someone you just met?"
Hope you enjoyed it!
