One month later
Author's POV
Taani was in sitting in the living room with Ranvijay and Avantika and the whole gang chatting, they have come from New York for sometime as the festival season was starting soon and it was Taani's first Ganesh Chaturthi festival after marriage. Only a couple of hours ago they brought the Ganpati idol in their home praying hat he will spread happiness and peace in their lives. Rey wasn't able to come for the idol prayer (sthapana of ganpati bappa) but he will be coming in a couple of days more.
But this was the least of Taani's worries. Something was wrong with Rey which she was sure he was not telling her. Their phone calls have reduced after she came back from Bangkok after giving him a surprise on their one month anniversary. Not only that he was avoiding her calls and whenever he would pick them up, he would cut it after giving some excuse. All she could pray was that it must be some surprise just like hers and nothing was really wrong with him. This trip to Bangkok was giving her chills from day one.
They were sitting having their teas and coffee along with snacks, when Taani's phone rang. It was a call from her office so she excused herself and went to her room taking the call. The bell rang and Avantika asked the servant to see who is at the door at this time, they were chatting when Rey entered the house along with the butlers carrying his luggage.
A huge grin plastered across every person's face seeing him,
"Rey!" Avantika passed him a huge smile and going to him hugged him tightly, he too embraced her seeking her warmth. He hugged all of them present there but his eyes were searching for the one person he couldn't wait to see. His eyes were yearning for her one look but she was nowhere to be found.
"Rey, yar tune bataya bhi nahi tu aaj aane vala hai. We would have come to pick you up."
Vicky said and others looked at him for answer,
"Haan vo...."
"Rey!"
He was going to say when a soft voice caught is attention, he turned to her forgetting what he was saying and there was the person standing he so wanted to see since the moment he landed in Mumbai. Dressed in a beautiful saree traditionally for the festival along with her chuda and wedding chain. Her hair open as he liked. He swear on God she turns more and more beautiful with every moment he see her.
A big smile came on her face seeing him too. Forgetting everything she climbed down the stairs quickly while he too walked to her swiftly. As soon as they were standing in front of each other they embraced not minding that their whole family was standing there going all awe on them.
He hugged her tightly nuzzling his head in her hair, he heaved a long sigh of relief which she noticed. He seemed tensed but relaxed as soon as he embraced her. Realizing he needs comfort she pulled him closer too hugging him tightly caressing his back and it worked instantly as he noticed all his worry vanishing.
"I missed you jaan!"
He whispered so that only she could hear, she smiled brightly replying,
"I missed you too!"
When both of them refused to break the hug, their family decided to bring them back in the real world. The D3 gang coughed loudly which brought taarey out of their romance world. Taani cursed herself, embarrassed as hell and broke the hug quickly.
They saw all the others giving them teasing looks, Rey shrugged it off as he really needed Taani's comforting embrace while Taani was blushing. But composing herself,
"Rey, aap abhi kaise. Aap to do din baad aane vale the?"
He looked at her nodding,
"Haan bas work jaldi wrap up ho gaya."
Taani became sad when she noticed he again went to his shell. His voice low indicating something was stressing him. He looked really tired and another thing she noticed was the dark circles under his eyes. He was not taking enough sleep too.
Avantika noticed his fatigue too, worriedly she told him,
"Rey, you must be tired meri jaan. Go and take rest, evening prayer mein aa jana niche."
He nodded at her and walked to their room for taking rest and freshening up, he wished that Taani would accompany him and god heard him,
"Taani bachha, tum bhi jao uske paas."
Taani eagerly nodded and walked to their room while the others settled in the living room talking. She reached their room and found him coming out of the wardrobe with his clothes and a towel.
He did not see her so stealthily closing the door she silently walked to him and hugged him tightly from back. Rey stiffened feeling someone's touch but relaxed realzing that it was her. Taani must have noticed it as she frowned and breaking the hug went in front of him,
"Kya hua, main hu. Aapko kya laga kisne aapko hug kiya."
He did not answer her just replied,
"Umm, kuch nahi, main freshen up hoke aata hu."
He was going when she stopped him holding his hand, turning him towards her she keep her palm on his cheek,
"Rey, kya hua jaan. Sab theek hai na?"
He nodded at her with a small smile,
"Haan baby sab theek hai. Don't worry."
He was trying to be convincing but failed miserably. Taani looked staright in his eyes and found a surge of pain swarming in them. He was surely hiding something. She traced the dark circles under his eyes softly with her thumb. His eyes closed feeling her soft and comforting touch, she traced his eyes with her thumb and leaning forward placed a small peck on them. His lips for the first time in a month curved into a genuine smile, next her lips touched his cheek and at last her thumb traced his lower lip a little,
"Why are you not smiling then? Ye nakli smile kyu?"
She asked him before leaning and placing a small peck on the corner of his lips, Rey who was in a trance till now came out of it and abruptly looked away turning his head away from her before she could kiss him. Her eyes widened a little seeing him turning his face away from her, before she could react he pulled his hands back from her waist and taking his clothes went in the washroom. Leaving her standing their stoned at her place.
Taani waited for him to come back in the room after freshening up, she stood up from the bed when he did but without saying anything to her he went and laid down on the bed dozing off into slumber.
She brushed his actions off thinking he must be tired after the journey so walking to his side sat beside him, caressing his head lightly she pecked his forehead mustering all the love she had in him and moved out of the room. Rey opened his eyes as soon as she left as he was just acting of sleeping, sleep rarely came to him nowadays, a lone tear escaped his eyes feeling her pain and love. He wiped the tear off before taing her pillow which had her scent and hugging it tightly to his chest dozed off. Sleep coming to him finally after so many days.
It was evening when Rey woke up from his deep slumber. Getting up from the bed he realized it was time for the evening prayer as every day till Ganesha idol is at their home they would pray this time too. He saw that Taani already took out his clothes for the prayer, a pink colored kurta with a dark pink waist coat. Getting ready he went down to see that all were busy in the preparations of aarti. Avantika was the first one who saw him,
"Rey, achha hai tu aa gaya. Aaj pehli aarti tune or Taani ne milar karni hai."
He nodded and all of them went down towards the temple where the idol was situated for the time being, Taani's face dulled when he didn't even glanced at her. They were tsanding in front of the idol and taarey did aarti together praying for their happiness and well being. After the aarti Taani distributed the Prasad to everyone. They settled in the living again when the door bell rang,
"Iss time kon hoga? Taani beta did you invite someone else too?"
"Nahi dada."
Taani replied to Ranvijay before the butlers opened the door and a girl walked in the house with her pale face and teary eyes. She was in her mid-twenties and was wearing a dress. Rey's face paled seeing her while all the others were confused.
"Yess, who are you?"
Taani asked her politely, the girl looked at Rey before turning to Taani,
"Ye to aap apne husband se puchiye, kyu Mr. Reyansh Singhania? Tell her who am I!"
All the people looked at her confused while Rey closed his eyes dreading what was coming, everyone's questioning gaze went towards him but he looked away not having an answer.
The girl scoffed before asking,
"Kyu jawab nahi hai? Kya kahenge aap, yahi ki main vo hu jiski life aapne barbaad ki hai."
Avantika got angry and she shouted at the girl,
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"Yahi that the guy you think so highly of, I want you all to see his real face. That how he forces girls for some moments of pleasure..."
Everyone stilled at their places before the girl continued sobbing,
"Yes, this man here, the great Reyansh Singhania tried to molest me. And when I stopped him he blackmailed me and slept with me forcefully."
Rey closed his eyes hearing her words, every word she spoke was hurting his self respect. His god knows that he is not like that, he would never do something like that with any girl. He never even touched her. He would never do that, would never try to hurt a girl's self respect and most of all try to cheat on his wife, whom he loved with everything he has.
All the others in the room was in the same state as him, they were shocked hearing the accusations girl was throwing at him. They knew Rey was not like this, then whatever gave her the impression she was under. His parents not knew what to say while Taani was standing there silently unaware on how she should react.
Her face was pale while she could not digest what all the girl was saying, Sharon was the first one to came out of her shock,
"Kya bakwas kar rahi ho. Who the hell are you to put these accusations on my best friend?"
The girl looked at her with the same anger,
"Main koi bakwas nahi kar rahi, aap logo ko isliye lag raha hai ki main jhoothi hu because vo aapki family hai. Sabko apni family hi sahi lagti hai, ek ladki hokar bhi aap mujhe samajh nahi rahi. I am saying the truth, I am an employee in Singhania industries Bangkok branch, he asked me to sleep with him in return of favours, that he would promote me to a higher position."
Neha was the next one to react,
"You are right, hum ussi ko believe karenge jisse hum ache se jante hai. We know Rey from a long time, aaj tak usne na kabhi kisi or ladki se badtameezi ki hai na humse."
Simmi agreed with her,
"Yes, he has been our friend from college days, agar vo aisa hota to vo humare sath ya kisi or ke sath bhi ye karta."
Aashi told next,
"And what proof types you have that he did something like this."
Rinni followed after,
"Yes, bina proof ke hum kaise maan le tum sach bol rahi ho or ye sab koi paise nikalne ki gandi trick nahi hai."
The girl looked past everyone and saw Taani standing there who was the only girl who didn't say anything till now, in fact she was standing there stiff not able to believe between reality or a nightmare. The girl walked to her and holding her shoulders she jerked Taani,
"Aap to unki wife hai na, please aap mera yakeen kiiye. I am saying the truth, ye aadmi sahi nahi hai. Aap please kuch kijiye, he needs to learn a lesson. I am begging you plzz believe me."
All were looking at Taani who was still on her place when Avantika shouted,
"Rey tu kuch bol kyu nahi raha, bol na tune aisa kuch nahi kiya. I know my son, he would enver do something like this."
But Rey's gaze was fixed on Taani, he just wanted to see what she thought of him. Would she believe him over all the accusations. Would she trust him. If she believes him then he doesn't care what others think of him as but he would never be able to see hatred in her eyes for him. Walking towards Taani ignoring everyone he held her by the shoudlers making her look at him,
"Taani! Jaan trust me, I don't know why she is saying all this. I didn't do anything, you trust me right?"
Her mind was blank for a moment.She too knew that he would never do something like this, it was not even an alternative that he might have done this mistakenly. She was sure he was innocent but what she didn't understand was that why some girl would come and accuse him of this and try to sabotage her and his self respect both. Until and unless that girl has some hidden motive.
Her eyes turned to him, she looked staright in his eyes and saw the same pain she saw some hours ago. His eyes were reflecting nothing but his love for her along with pain and helplessness as if he wanted nothing but to hear from her that she trusts him.
They were gazing at each other when the girl again shputed saying,
"Thik hai agar aap log meri help nahi karenge to mujhe pata hai meri help kon karega mujhe justice dilane mein. Vahi jisne mujhe iske opposite awaaz uthane ki himmat di."
"Whom are you talking about?"
Vicky said irritated with the girl when a voice boomed in the loving room from the entrance,
"Me!"
All the head turned towards the guy standing there and it was none other than the person who tried to destroy them previously too by trying to sabotage their careers and friendship, ADITYA KHURANA.
