The moon embraces the dead leaves.
Silver and brown,
like all things
in the desert.
Sagebrush, beer cans, and cows.
I know this place,
like a life-long lover.
And yet, I still marvel
at the constant echo of trucks
rumbling by on the highway.
A lonely ghost town
with not enough ghosts.
