Since Sugawara was already by the gym he decided that was the first place he would look. The chances that Kageyama were in there were higher the chances of looking anywhere else. He opened the side door and looked in seeing that the volleyball net was up and balls littered the floor on one side of the court. However, there was no one on the court and no sound of balls or shoes on the floor. Suga knew that he must've been here so he stepped into the gym and did a quick scan of the room including the upper rails to make sure he wasn't up there. He sniffed the air and Kageyama's scent was still fresh so he followed his nose to where the scent was the strongest, in front of the closed equipment room. Either Kageyama had heard him coming and didn't want to talk to him or he just wanted to be alone in the dark either seemed plausible. Sugawara let out a sigh before plopping himself down against the doors.
Suga's POV
What happened to the pack that was their team? The first years might've been uneasy at the beginning of the semester but they just seemed to be fitting in and now this happens. Nothing is making much sense, why would the unbeatable duo keep their secondary genders a secret. It's not something to be ashamed of, heck I wouldn't be with Daichi right now if our secondary genders were anything different.
Third POV
His train of thought stopped as he heard quiet whimpering from the equipment room. Suga started to release calming pheromones out of his scent glands out of instinct. He then got up and went to open the door only to realize it's locked from the inside. "Kageyama please open the door I'm here to help." He heard rustling on the other side before a faint clicking sound came from the door. Suga waited a few moments before opening it and going inside slowly. What he saw was not what he was expecting. He thought that with the balls scattered on the court that Kageyama would be in an aggressive mood and would've messed things up in the equipment room as well but he was wrong. Instead he walked into the tall omega curled up in the corner with his belongings surrounding him.
Suga stopped before entering what seemed to be Kageyama's hastily put together nest. It took him a second to really comprehend the fact that Kageyama was finally showing his omega side to someone and not just putting up a bold face for everyone to think he's an alpha. Suga couldn't help but notice the orange and white volleyball that Kageyama had given to Hinata in Kageyama's hands. "You want to talk about it?" Blue eyes lined with tears looked up at the older omega before he nodded and made room for Suga to sit beside him. The gray-haired setter accepted to invitation into the nest and sat with his legs crossed adjacent to the younger male. Kageyama had never been one to really open up to anyone and Suga watched as his mouth opened and then closed multiple times as if he didn't know where to start.
"You don't have to tell me what happened, I already know. I'm just here to make sure you're ok and for you to know that I care about you–in fact the whole team cares about you and the one who is definitely the most worried about you is Hinata..."
Looking at the volleyball in his hands Kageyama sighed. "I was just scared for a minute... I never thought that he would be the one thing I've always wanted to be, that I was always told I was going to be..." Suga places his hands gently over Kageyama's shaking ones that were clenching hard on the ball. He visibly relaxed at the touch, clearly stressed beyond what he was letting off.
"I can't say I really understand either of your reasoning to keep your second genders pushed to the side. It's not healthy for either of you, but I want you to know we aren't here to judge you based off of what you cannot control." Suga said in a motherly tone that had Kageyama feeling a bit guilty that he hadn't told his team about his second gender.
"You should talk to Hinata and work whatever this is out because the team will suffer if this goes unresolved and we can't have that, especially since the spring tournament is quickly approaching and I know both of you want to go to nationals more than anyone else on the team." Suga smiled as Kageyama started to pack away his belongings before he asked quietly, "Do you know where Hinata is I think I owe him an apology and a thank you..."
Daichi POV
What am I supposed to do now that Suga has left? I'm not the type to help someone when they are down like this, although Hinata isn't really that down anymore, I guess this could be alright.
Third POV
Daichi made his way over to sit down on the floor next to Hinata. "So...where did you learn to control your pheromones like that? It's quite impressive."
Daichi started to backpedal when he saw the grimace on Hinata's face as his hands tightly gripped his shirt. "Sorry sorry I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable, I wasn't thinking." Hinata shook his head saying it was fine. "To be honest I've never really used my pheromones like that before I just knew that alphas could do that...and so my instincts took control and it just happened. Who would've thought that after using patches and suppressants that I would just blow it all out the window for something so stupid, not that I regret the reason it happened just regretting that I'm exposed...you wouldn't understand."
Daichi thought it over and came to the conclusion that he didn't really understand what Hinata was fussing over, himself being a proud alpha and 'pack' leader, if what you called their volleyball team could even be considered a pack. Nothing really made sense to him and yet he knew what needed to happen. "Kageyama's reaction was done out of shock and since you knew that Kageyama was also hiding his second gender he should also understand your reasoning behind hiding yours. You two need to talk and before you work out all of this your both banned from practice. Hopefully it doesn't take long because I know for a fact that our team needs you both, regardless of your second gender." Hinata looked shocked that the captain had both of them benched over something like this. "There is nothing you can say that will change my decision so you better find Kageyama and talk it out."
Daichi got up from his spot on the floor and took a deep breath, not so discreetly searching Hinata's feelings through his scent change. He seemed to be a bit upset, but that was a given, however, what Daichi didn't expect was the hint of fear coming from the small orange haired alpha. Before Daichi could ask about it he heard the bathroom door open and immediately recognized his mates scent come in. He walked out of the stall and saw Kageyama looking a bit nervous holding a orange and white volleyball in his arms. Daichi motioned to Kageyama that Hinata was in the last stall before walking out of the bathroom with his omega.
"So where did you find Kageyama?" He asked as they started walking back to the third year's building. Suga let out a soft chuckle before responding "Where do you think?" Daichi's heart fluttered at his mate's laugh and he couldn't help but think how much he loved his omega, especially the very motherly side of him that he had shown today quite prevalently. Suga nudged Daichi's arm before holding his hand. "You're staring Dai." He whispered as a pink hue tainted Daichi's cheeks. "Hard not to when you look so beautiful." Daichi responded smoothly.
Suga hugged Daichi's arm and smiled softly as he looked at the floor. Soon they heard the bell ring and realized that they had skipped the one class that they had together today. A slight frown appeared on Suga's face as he realized they had to part ways. "See you at practice Cap'n." He said in an odd accent that made them both smile before they went to their separate classes.
Daichi POV
Why does he do this to me? Make my stomach full of butterflies and my head spin? I'm an alpha for crying out loud I should be able to control my feelings and my body along with it and yet here I am sitting in class daydreaming about Koushi. He's so perfect and so great with kids, he'd be a great mom—a tap on my desk brought me out of my thoughts. I looked up at the teacher and apologized for spacing out before he went back to his lecture. As much as I tried to focus on the teacher my mind wandered and soon it was gone to more sinful places of me and Koushi. Pups were not something that I wanted right at this moment but in the future it was something I would definitely want especially when I thought of how adorable Koushi would look pregnant. The bell echoed in the halls signalling the end of classes and I quickly made my way to the club room.
Finding the door already unlocked I walked in hoping that Koushi was in here. My eyes lit up a bit as I made my way to my locker to see him taking his shirt off. "You know it's rude to stare, not that I mind." Suga said as he swayed his hips a bit as he walked over to me. I swear he will be the death of me and if I could take him right here I would but the team was also in here getting ready for practice. "You are so going to get it when we get home." I whispered in his ear before I leaned down and nipped at his scent gland on his neck. Suga left out a small yip before pushing me back.
"Get some Suga!"
"No one wants to see that."
I let out a small chuckle before changing into my gym attire and walking to the gym. I hadn't failed to notice that a certain pair were not here. They would be missed for the time being but it's all for the best. I just hoped that everything would've been resolved by now but I guess it was too much to hope for. No one questioned why the duo weren't at practice, it was common knowledge at this point what had happened during the lunch break. The only one that I needed to explain it too was coach Ukai and he trusted my judgement so it wasn't a problem. He agreed that it probably wouldn't be long until they were back to their normal selves again especially with the summer training camp starting in about a week. Neither of them could afford to miss such a practice with the tournament just around the corner. And everyone knew to what extent they would go to get there.
Third POV
The sky was dark as everyone starting to go on their separate ways to their homes. Daichi was glad that Suga had agreed to live with him after they bonded. Now they were living together in his parents' basement apartment which wasn't the most ideal but was better than living separately. Plus Daichi's parents were rarely home since Suga had moved in because of their jobs and whatnot. As soon as they stepped inside their home Daichi couldn't hold himself back anymore. He kissed Suga softly before moving to deepen the kiss. Suga pushed him back "At least let me take off my shoes and coat first." Daichi apologized and quickly took off his own outerwear before practically dragging Suga to their bedroom. "What's got you all horny all the sudden?" Suga asked amused. Daichi blushed at the bluntness of the question but he knew he had to answer or Suga wouldn't let them continue. "I was just thinking...about you." Daichi said. Suga crossed his arms as he sat against the headboard knowing that was only half of the answer. A sigh was heard before Daichi mumbled, "I was thinking about how beautiful you would look pregnant." Suga's eyebrows raised in shock at such a statement and Daichi was quick to step in. "Not right now, I don't want pups right now. I know we're too young for that, we haven't even finished high school yet. It was just a dream for the future that kind of turned me on..."
Suga relaxed and uncrossed his arms before motioning for his mate to continue. A small kiss turned into a make out and before they knew it there was nothing left between them but love and warmth.
Suga snuggled closer to Daichi's chest breathing in deeply as his scent enveloped his whole being. "Love you Koushi." was whispered into his soft hair as his eyes closed and soothing circles were rubbed on his back. "Love you too Dai." And with that they both drifted off to sleep, content in each other's embrace.
