Grace's POV
Come Saturday morning I was woken up by a constant ringing. I blindly reached my hand out to my side to find my cell phone. The next time it rang I answered the call.
"Hello," I mumbled sleepily.
"How are you even still asleep? We have shopping to do," the chipper voice of my best friend said foregoing the hello.
"Why are you even awake? We aren't even meeting them until after lunch."
"Exactly my point, we need to get to the shop early and find the good dresses. Has Emmett even asked you to prom yet?"
"No, he hasn't." I finally sat up in bed and listened to my friend rant about the importance of a guy asking a girl to prom. I put the phone on speaker and got dressed in a pair of back skinny jeans, a grey crop top, a light blue jean jacket, and a pair of black converse. I grabbed a ponytail holder from my nightstand and threw my hair up in a bun. "Are you done yet?" I asked, interrupting Skyla's rant.
"Yes, I'm done. I'm almost at your house. Get ready and we can eat breakfast on the way," she said before she hung up.
I went to the bathroom and did my morning routine. I walked out of the bathroom just in time to hear the doorbell. Dad answered the door and I grabbed my purse from my room and headed downstairs.
"Hey, Dad. Sky wants to do breakfast out. I promise to be home at a decent time but don't wait up for dinner," I said as I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "Bye, love you."
The two of us walked out the door and got in her car. She stopped at the cafe and I ordered a breakfast sandwich with a glass of chocolate milk and she ordered a blueberry muffin and a glass of apple juice. After we received our order she drove us to Port Angeles.
She parked the car outside of a cute boutique. She tried on every dress that was her size before deciding that none of them were what she wanted. So we moved on to the next dress shop. She picked three dresses to try on before walking to the back of the store to the fitting room I walked around looking at the variety of dresses. None of the newer dresses was my style. Skyla walked out of the dressing room in a plum two-piece.
"This is the one," she said as she twirled in front of the three-sided mirror.
"You look beautiful," I admired.
"Did you find anything?"
"No." I looked out the window and saw a vintage clothing store across the street. "How about we try over there?" I said pointing to the shop.
"Sounds good. Let me pay and then we can go." She walked back into the dressing room and changed. Once she was done she paid for the dress and we walked to her car to put the dress in the back. We walked back to the vintage clothing store and she showed me the dresses that were in my size. At the very back of the rack, I found a white and teal dress. Thankfully it was in my size so I went into the dressing room and tried it on. It fit like a glove. I walked out of the dressing room to show Skyla.
"You look breathtaking," Skyla said.
I stood in front of the mirror and looked at my reflection. "Do you think he'll like it?" I asked.
"He won't be able to take his eyes off of you."
I nodded my head and went back to the dressing room to change into my own clothes. After getting dressed, I walked over to the checkout counter and paid for my dress. As we were walking back to the car I saw Jessica, Angela, and Bella in the same boutique Skyla found her dress. She unlocked her car and I laid my dress in the back with hers. She relocked the car and we went back into the store. Jessica was in a hot pink halter dress and Angela was sporting a lavender mermaid dress with fancy stitching.
"Jess, what do you think? Lavender?" Angela asked.
"Yeah, I like it. I like that dusty rose one too," Jessica said, standing in front of the mirror. "Okay, I like this one. It makes my boobs look good."
A group of frat boys knocked on the windows and made rude obscenities at Jessica and Angela. Angela turned away from the attention and Skyla flipped them off.
"Oh my god," Angela said.
"That is uncomfortable," Jessica said.
"That's disgusting," Bella said.
"Bella, what do you think?"
"Looks great."
"You said that about like the last five dresses."
"I thought they were all pretty good."
"You're not really into this are you?" Angela asked.
"I just really want to go to this bookstore."
"Well, I think you look fantastic, Jessica," I said. "And Angela, with your skin tone I would go with this one." I walked over to a white, strapless, dress, and handed it to her.
"Thanks," she said before walking over to the dressing room to try it on.
"I'll meet you guys at the restaurant," Bella said grabbing her things.
"You sure?" Jessica asked.
"Yeah, yeah. I'll see you in a minute."
When Bella left the store, Angela came out in the white dress and she looked like a goddess. Both she and Jessica decided to get the dresses that they were wearing. Skyla and I just wanted to explore downtown so we left the two to pay for their dresses. It began to get dark and in the distance, we could hear someone talking. It sounded like Bella. We walked towards the voices and found Bella surrounded by the guys from the dress store. They were all stumbling and their speech was slightly slurred so they were obviously drunk.
"Leave her alone," I said gaining their attention. I may not like how nosey Bella is but I don't want anything bad to happen to her.
"Oh, you wanna party instead," the head guy slurred. "Don't worry we can all party together."
They started walking towards Skyla and me. The second one of them touched Skyla she flipped him over her shoulder. The next guy got pissed and tried to hit her but she grabbed his hand and flipped him too. One of the guys advanced on me and I thrust my hand out. A giant shot of water passed me and hit the guy knocking him back a few feet. The rest of the men took off running and a silver Volvo reared into the parking lot.
Edward got out of the car and told Bella to get in. Skyla shook me out of my daze and dragged me to her car. She told me to call Emmett but my mind was still in a daze after what just happened. As if sensing my impending panic she took my purse and pulled out my phone. I assume she dialed Emmett because his voice filled my ears.
"Emmett, how fast can you get to Port Angles?" Skyla asked.
"Not long, why?" Emmett asked.
"Because something happened to Grace and she needs you. She's safe but stuck in her head."
"I can be there in thirty minutes. Grace, I know you can hear me. Just keep breathing and listen to my voice. I'm coming to you and everything is gonna be okay."
"No, it's not," I whispered. "It's not okay."
"Yes, it is. Skyla told me that you are safe and I believe her. Do you trust Skyla to keep you safe?"
"She needs to be kept safe from me."
