today I feel old,
not in a way i complain, nor a praise i claim
i feel old in my bones, as in i have lived some lies and some lives - beyond their shelf life.
but they are there, and that's alright. they are a part of us, of me - the not truth, until you think over and over again
we have a banyan in our backyard. its roots hang over my head - like a dead weight
i try to shed and cut them off, but they are deep seated - almost to my bones i have felt them take refuge. i feel at home.
they are now my truth - a slip of tongue it was, my grandma said . for an entire people , the truth is now the lie.
it's a comfortable life. getting old is fun sometimes
