"Okay. What happened back there? You're in the lead, Dylan. Why on earth you stopped?" Max questioned. They were at a bar.

"I don't know. Maybe because it's my first time in two years joining this sport to witness someone fell off a tall cliff and die." Dylan answered heavily, staring at his glass.

"It was Freddie Olsen. He really died down there. He didn't make it to the hospital. They said he was completely toasted." Steve told them.

Max and Dylan both did a disgusted reaction.

"Well, nobody liked what happened, but I'm sure all the participants know auto racing is a very dangerous game. You know that too, right Dylan?" Max asked.

"Yeah, I know it's dangerous, but I never felt scared before because I'm confident with my driving skills... but right now, after what happened? After what I saw? ...I don't know what to think of it anymore." he answered, still without looking.

"Hey, don't tell me you're quitting? You like that sport. You love cars." Max said.

Dylan finally looked at him. "I don't know, bro... I still need to think this through."

Seeing the serious look on his friend's face, Max gave up. He leaned against his chair and sighed.

On Friday night, Dylan waited at home until midnight, but Patricia didn't show up. He grabbed his phone and called her.

Particia: "Hey, baby. I'm so sorry. We got invited to a night party after the show. Models from other companies are also here. I can't leave. Promise, I'll make it up to you on weekend, okay?"

Dylan: "I see. It's all right, babe. I was just worried, so I called you."

Patricia: "Thanks, baby. I have to hang up now. I'll try to get a higher deal from other modelling companies. Wish me luck. I'll call you back tomorrow."

Dylan: "Okay. Don't drink too much."

Patricia: (giggled) "I won't. Bye! I love ya. Mwah!"

Dylan: "I love you too."

After the call, Dylan slumped on the couch and covered his eyes with his arm. At that moment, he was really disappointed.

The next day at Kornells University, one of the most popular schools in New York, Dylan entered their classroom.

"Hey man, what's wrong? ...It's morning, but you already look baked. What happened to you?" Max asked when his friend sat beside him.

"Nothing" he answered in a low tone.

"I know that word. Every time you say 'nothing' it's actually about your 'super hot' girlfriend. Am I right?" Max guessed, but he sounded certain.

When Dylan didn't answer, he confirmed it.

"Okay, girlfriend problems. What's about it? You broke up with her? ...Because I think she will never leave a guy like you." he said.

Dylan looked at him furrowing his forehead. "Why is that?" he asked in a curious tone.

Max felt a bit unnerved when he asked about it. "Seriously, you don't know?"

"I don't get it. Tell me what you're thinking." Dylan asked, wondering.

"Okay, but don't get mad at me if you really want to know my honest opinion." he demanded.

"Yeah, tell me now." Dylan replied impatiently.

"Bro, Patricia is obviously into you because you can give her what she wants." he told him.

"What? ...No, that's not true. She said she loves me." Dylan argued in a bothered tone.

"Whoa, chill. You said you wouldn't get mad, remember?" he reminded him.

"I just don't understand why all of you think that way about my girlfriend, including my mom." Dylan complained.

"Can't you see? ...Patricia likes you because you got the looks, and you're rich. Well, super rich actually. Do you think if you're only an ordinary guy, she will still notice you? ...Why don't you put her to a test?" Max suggested.

Dylan didn't like it. "No, she loves me, and that came from her. That's enough for me. I don't have to put her to a test just to prove it. I trust her." he said firmly.

"All right, fine" Max gave up. Then, he looked at Steve and showed him a silly smile.

As he was driving home, Dylan recalled what his friend had told him. He gave it some thought and realized that maybe it would make him feel at ease if he could prove that his girlfriend really loves him not only because of money.

When he got home, he immediately called her on his phone and invited her to see him. She agreed. The next day, at night, she came.

"Hi, handsome. I miss you so much." she greeted, dangling on his shoulders.

"I miss you too." he replied with a smile.

"Are we... alone tonight?" she asked seductively.

"Yeah, we are." he answered softly.

She bit her lower lip and smiled.

After a quick dinner and a short chat, they went to the room and exhausted themselves in a wild and loud sex.

Patricia knew how to turn Dylan on. She's really good in bed. Not to mention, she had a pleasing face and a perfect body. She could easily aroused him with her sexual charisma every time they do it.

After more than half an hour, they sat together on the top of the bed and leaned against the headboard.

"Um... There's something I want to tell you." Dylan said.

"What is it, baby?" Patricia asked.

"Well... mom closed all my bank accounts temporarily. That means... I can't take you to a nice restaurant or buy you things for a while." he told her in a bothered tone.

"Can you tell me why aunt Victoria did that?" she asked.

"I lost a $300,000 car on my last race. She was upset about it, so she gave me a punishment." he reasoned.

"I see, um... How long this punishment will take? I mean, I'm just concerned about you. You need your cards, right?" she asked in a sincere tone.

At that moment, Dylan began to have doubts.

"I'm not sure... Is that okay with you?" he asked tensely.

"Um... Of course. Yeah, I'm fine with it." she answered with a smile.

He smiled back. "Really? ...Thanks babe. Don't worry. I will spoil you when it's over."

"Okay" she replied.

That night, Dylan's worries completely died out.

The next day at school, Dylan approached his friends. "It's done." he announced with a big smile on his face.

"Done with what?" Max asked in a confused tone.

"With what you told me the other day... You said I should try to put Patricia to a test. Well, I just did." he answered.

"Really? ...So how did it go?" Max asked.

"I just proved that she's crazy in love with me even without my money." he answered proudly.

"What kind of test you gave her?" Max asked. He was not convinced yet.

"I told her, I couldn't give her anything temporarily because my cards are confiscated. She said she's fine with it. I even told her I had no idea when I could get them back, and guess what? She didn't complain." he answered, smiling.

"Whoa! Mind blowing" Max commented in an exaggerated tone.

"See? ...Not all pretty girls are gold diggers." he claimed.

Max smirked. "The test is not over yet. You still have to observe her"

Dylan furrowed his forehead. "Hey, isn't that enough with you, saying she's okay with it?" he questioned in an upset voice.

"Words are just empty air from the mouth if they're not proven." Max told him.

"I can't believe you. Why you're so against my girlfriend? ...Hey, don't tell me you like her... I'm warning you. I will really get mad at you this time." he warned.

Max chuckled. "Shut up, bro. I'm not interest in your 'super model' girlfriend. She's all yours."

Dylan sighed. "Whatever" Then, he looked away.

That whole day until the next morning, Patricia didn't call nor did she even send him a text message.

When Dylan got to their classroom, Max noticed the bothered look on his face again.

"What now Mr. Walton?" he asked, teasing.

"Since... we talked about it yesterday, she hasn't called me yet." Dylan told him in a heavy and worried tone.

"Okay. That sounds not good. Why don't you call her now?" he suggested.

Dylan looked at him with his tense eyes.

"Dylan... if it will not end well, you can still find another girl. There are so much more out there." Max told him.

"But I don't want someone else. I only want her." he said in a stubborn tone.

"Fine, just make sure you won't meet Mr. Regret in the end. That guy is very nasty." Max warned.

Dylan scowled. "Hey, are you my mom's spy?" he asked suspiciously.

Max tittered. "What? No! Why are you asking me that?"

Dylan did not answer. Instead, he took his phone out and let out a deep breath, then he called Patricia.

Dylan: "Hey, baby"

Patricia: "Hi"

Dylan: "I just called you to ask if you're okay. I didn't hear anything from you since last night, so..." (worried)

Patricia: "Oh, yeah... I'm really sorry baby. I just had a very busy day in the studio yesterday. I fell asleep early when I got home. Actually, I'm about to call you now."

Dylan: "I understand. When will I see you?"

Patricia: "We have a photoshoot in Rochester for three days, so I won't be home this week. How about next week?"

Dylan: "All right. Take care, okay? Call me when you have time."

Patricia: "Sure, babe"

Dylan: "Bye, I love you."

Patricia: "Love you too"

After the call, Dylan looked back at his friend. "She's just busy with her job." he told him, but his face seemed unconvinced.

Max smirked. He was still suspicious, but he kept it to himself.
