He had plenty of names and none of them were real ones. Even if his mother wanted to give him a name, she couldn't. For she was muted like he was. Voices were forcedly taken and never will come back.
They were imprisoned by a cruel man or also known as a husband and a father. No one could save them. The question was, who would save a muted mother and son from a slum?
Right, no one.
He couldn't remember much as to when and why his tongue was taken away from him but he knew that man despised his very existence.
His nightmare from the past was shackled to him, a reminder that he will never live freely. A nightmare where he was forced to watched his mother—the only ally he had—be killed by that drunken man.
After his mother died, the man lived for drugs. The money his mother had saved was immediately gone in exchange for drugs. At age of six he was made to work and earn money just to provide the man's alcohol and drugs.
Of course the income wasn't enough, so the day came when the man sold him for a bag of gold coins. He was brought to an old church to be a sacrifice.
Even though he was just a nobody, even he's alone, he still wants to live. He wanted to know what's life outside that man's hand. That's why he never gave up life even he couldn't eat a decent meal or beat up by the man. He never gave up until now.
Children around his age dies without much of a fight. Their cries rung to his ears and into his heart. He then accepted his fate.
One more and he was next.
"I'm going to see my mom." That was what he said to the last girl beside him.
But he never thought that a fateful encounter with this girl would changed his broken life.
She who could save her life chose to save and protect him from danger. A girl far beyond his reach extended her delicate hand to someone like him without any hesitation.
And for the first time, he became selfish and decided what he wants for his reward after he helped the captain about the drugs case.
Once he shed his tears at the grave and those tears were not for his father but because he was still alive.
He knocked on the door waiting for an answer.
"Come in. Ah– Bwi! Welcome back. How's the lessons?"
Despite all he had been through he was glad. Although he's truly not free he chose to live for the sake of his savior. His princess.
