ABHISHEK

"Abhay?"

She asked again.

I froze. I just didn't know what to say.

Komal di hit me on the arm and motioned me to talk.

"Aish."

"Hi." She spoke.

"Hey."

"How have you been?" She asked.

"Good."

I didn't know what else to say.

Suddenly Komal di snatched my phone away.

"Hey, Aish. Abhay's sister, Komal here. Hope you're doing well. Just wanted to say that Abhay is kind of nervous as you guys are speaking after such a long time, so he does not really know what to say." She spoke.

"Hi Komal di. Yeah, we're speaking after two whole months, and honestly it's just the same for me." Aish chuckled sofly.

"Well, I hope this kind of eased the tension. I'll hand the phone back to Abhay. It was nice speaking to you. I really hope to see you soon." Di smiled.

"Same here di." Aish said.

Komal di turned the speaker off and handed my phone back to me, before walking out of the room.

"Sorry for that." I said, embarrassed.

"It's totally fine. It was really sweet of her to do that." Aish chuckled.

"So, how's your daadu?" I asked.

"Daadu is fine. It's been a month since he came out of coma, and honestly he's doing great." I could hear how happy she was by the way she spoke.

"So, you've been in Punjab for about a month?" I questioned.

"No, just a week. I had my semester exams going so I had to wait for it to get over." She explained.

"Oh okay."

"And how do you know all these things?" She asked, chuckling.

"Dhriti." I said.

"Expected." She laughed.

"So, how's everything?" She asked.

"Everything is good. You tell me. Coming to Amritsar anytime soon?"

"Not sure about it. Maybe, I will." She said.

"Don't forget to inform your future husband about it." I teased.

"God, Abhay! Can you please get over that? I was kidding, and you know it." She laughed.

"You wish you were, Zaisha."

"Shut up."

"I missed you, Aish."

"I didn't know how much I missed you, until this call. And boy, did I miss you so much." She chuckled.

We stayed silent for a while.

"Aish."

"Hmm?"

"I read your letter." I said.

"Ofcourse, you did." She said, laughing.

"Did you mean it?"

"I meant every word I wrote, Abhay."

And, I smiled.

"I know you're smiling." She said.

"How did you know?"

"Perhaps, I know you enough." She chuckled.

"How was your tournament?" She questioned.

"Amazing." I said.

"Wait. How did you know?" I asked.

"Manjot." She chuckled.

"Ofcourse. You know, he still has a crush on you." I told her, laughing.

"Are you serious? I thought he lost interest in me long back." She said, laughing along.

"Unfortunately, you aren't someone whom people can lose interest in so easily." I sighed.

"Uhuh?" She chuckled.

"You know, Riya and Dhri are coming to Punjab next week." She told me.

"Yup, I know."

"We should all meet up. I miss you boys." She said.

"Me precisely, I know, Aish. I know." I teased her.

"If I said no, I'd be lying." She laughed slightly.

"The 'WEDNESDAY' group would finally come to life again." I exaggerated.

"I know right! It's so dead." She said.

"Aishi!"

Someone called her.

"Aayi mumma." She called out.

"Abhay, I got to go now. Mumma bula rahi hai. Will text you later." She told me.

"Yeah, sure. Bye."

"Bye, Abhay."

Smiling, I hung the call.

"So, how was it?"

I turned around to see Komal di leaned on the door frame.

I smiled at her.

"It was good. Thanks."

She walked towards me and ruffled my hair, before sitting on my bed.

"Now spill."

"Spill what?" I asked.

"Yours and Aish's love story." She chuckled.

Shaking my head, I smiled.

"The name's Zaisha, by the way." I told her.

"Zaisha. I love the name." She said.

"And I love her." I chuckled.

"Whipped." She commented, which caused me to roll my eyes at her.

"Now tell me the story!" She said.

After I finished telling her the story, a look of realisation dawned on her face. I gave her a confused look.

"The letter makes sense to me now." She mumbled.

"You know, Abhay. This is God giving you a second chance to win her. Trust me, everyone isn't this lucky. You've got another chance. Don't let it go in vain." She told me.

"Thinking the same."

"Good." She smiled at me, before walking towards the door.

"Oh also, Abhay." Komal di called me.

"Yeah?"

"Get her home someday. I really want to meet her." She said.

"I will." I chuckled.

Di walked out and shut the door behind her.

"Another chance." I whispered to myself.
