I woke up with my head laying on a bare chest. Fuck. I quickly picked up my head which caused Sean to wake up.
"Well, hello there," he chuckled.
I quickly got up and threw some boxers and Sean's shirt on.
"Hmmm," he murmured appreciably, "I like you in my clothes."
"Ok, let's get this straight," I said, "What happened last night was a sexual tension override kinda thing that will never happen again, and I'm going to leave today. I'll survive by myself."
Right as I said that, my stomach churned and out came a light shade of blood.
"Shit," he muttered while he came to my side and rubbed my back while looking at me worriedly.
"You took your medicine yesterday, right?" He asked after the nausea passed.
"Yes," I replied while I took my medication for today.
"I'm gonna take you in," he said while picking up his phone.
"NO!" I said forcibly, "I'm fine, just please, no more doctors."
"If you were fine you wouldn't be throwing up," he retorted.
"Fine, I'll go, but by myself."
"With what, your nonexistent car?!"
"I'll take yours."
"Nobody touches my car except for me."
"UGH! Fine."
And with that I was in the waiting room, in the place I dreaded most.
"She's been having unusual side-effects of her cancer, like this morning she blood vomited," I heard Sean say at the front desk.
"Well, can you take her in room 307 to check her out? We currently have no nurses available. I know your off but-"
"Of course, yeah," Sean cut her off.
"Come on," he motioned towards the door that had 307 written on it.
"Yeah, I still don't know why we had to go here," I mumbled.
"You don't want to die, do you?"
"Actually, I do," I mumbled again.
"What?"
"Nothing."
"Okay?" He said more as a question as he pushed my chest down to make me lie down.
"I'm going to take a blood sample so just relax and don't tense up."
I closed my eyes as I felt a prick on my finger and opened them again when the pain was gone.
"I'll be back," Sean said as he walked out the door.
He came back about ten minutes later with a worried look on his face.
"I still don't understand this, but apparently the medicine your taking is what is causing you to throw up blood," Sean said, looking cautiously at me, "I can look for some new medications, but it will take awhile, like three to four months."
"And by then I'll be dead," I added in.
"No," he said forcefully, "I will not let you die."
"Just because we had sex once does not mean I love you or, hell, even like you."
And before he could say anything else I got up and went to the door saying, "You can't avoid dying, it just happens. To some it comes later and to some it comes sooner. Mine is coming soon, but yours is probably coming later so I suggest you forget about me as I will of you. Thanks for letting me stay at your place, but I'm gonna leave now. Goodbye Sean."
And with that I left him in the doorway, dumbfounded, while I went on my way to becoming moneyless, homeless, and loveless.
