Sunday morning came and it was the day that we went fishing with my dad. I couldn't wait, and since he didn't make us wake up at five this time, we had time to grab snacks and drinks before heading over to my parents house.

He called me during the week to remind me and I told him that I haven't forgot about it. There was no way that I could forget something like that when it c0mes to hanging out with him.

After we arrived at the house, I got out and looked around as dad was pulling his truck around the house with the boat attached to it. I smiled as he smiled then parked the truck, getting out.

"There's my pumpkin." He smiles as she approaches me then pulls me in a hug. "You ready?" He looks over at Tory. "Good morning, Tory."

She smiles as I heard mom walk out of the house. She went right to Tory before pulling her into a hug and I couldn't help but smile as I watched them for a moment until dad grabbed my attention.

"You got everything you need? We better get going before it gets too hot." He looks at his watch. "Not sure if it's supposed to be that hot today."

"I think the highest is supposed to be seventy, so I think we're ok." I smile as I follow him to the truck and placed everything in the backseat.

Shutting the door, I walk to the boat as dad was making sure he had everything. I saw bait, poles, and everything else you would find in a fishing boat. I honestly couldn't wait, I was so excited.

Walking around the boat, I saw Tory and mom talking for a moment until mom pulls Tory into a hug. She caught me watching her then smiles over at me. "Carter, sweetie!" I walk over to her and hug her. "How are you?"

"Good." I smile. "Are you coming with us this time?"

"Sweetie, you know I hate getting into those types of boats." She smiles at me. "Maybe when your father decides to take the big boat out, we can all go to the beach."

Smiling, I hugged her once more before walking over to my dads truck. I turn to see Tory and my mom talking once more before Tory walks over towards the truck.

I pull myself up then scoot over and allowed Tory to get into the front seat also. There was no way I was letting Tory sit in the back by herself, plus this truck has plenty of room in the front seat for three people.

Dad hops in then smiles at us. "All ready?" I nod as he started the engine then drove out of the driveway, getting onto the main road.

As my dad was driving, I look over at Tory as she was staring out the window. I smile at her as I knew this was going to be a great day. I really couldn't wait to show her how to fish and everything that's so fun about it.

"So, Tory?" Dad spoke, then looks over at her. "Have you ever been fishing?"

Looking over at Tory, she looks back at him then shakes her head. "No sir."

He smiles. "Well, looks like Carter and I will have to show you how it's done." He looks at me and smiles before nudging my arm. "Right, pumpkin?"

Seeing Tory smile at us, I smile back then look ahead at the road.

The drive there didn't take long. It was about twenty minutes, which was away from everything. It was nice and quiet and not many people come down here, which is always a good thing.

Thinking about it now, Kayla hasn't messaged me until Friday morning when she saw Tory and I in the Cafe.

Which doesn't bother me cause it keeps Tory from second guessing about what's going on between us.

I just don't get why Tory says she has a bad feeling about her.

We made it to the landing and I smiled at how beautiful it was today. I couldn't wait to get into the boat and start riding down the river and fish.

"We're here." Dad smiles as he backs the boat into the water. "Would you do the honors?" He asks, looking at me.

I nod as Tory and I both got out. I grab the snacks and everything from the backseat before shutting the door.

It was a case of deja vu the last time I was here, when I was seeing Tory behind my parents back.

It's crazy how she's here with me now.

Smiling at her, I got into the boat as dad came out and unhooked it from the truck, then the boat slides down the ramp and into the water.

I make sure the boat doesn't go anywhere as I anchor it, before roping it around the dock that's near the ramp. I watch as dad moves the truck over in his usual spot then saw Tory walking down the ramp.

Standing up, I get closer to the side before holding my arm out towards her. "Grab my hand and hop in. Don't be scared when the boat starts rocking." I smile as she grabs my hand then gets in, letting the boat rock a little until she's sitting down.

There's three seats, so that's perfect for three people.

Dad gets in then sits in the seat where he controls the motor and steering of the boat. I sat in the back as Tory was sitting on the middle, that way I can watch her and see how well she does.

We start getting down the river a little and I look around at everything and really enjoy how beautiful it is today.

"You got your snacks and everything, Carter?" Dad asks from the front of the boat.

I smile as I grab the bag from the floor then hold it up. "Yes, sir!"

Tory looks at me and smiles, before looking around at everything. I couldn't help but smile also as I watch her enjoy everything around us.

We went up a little ways before stopping. Dad shuts the motor off before pulling the anchor out next to some trees.

He turns around and looks at me before smiling and grabbing a fishing pole before showing Tory how to use it.

I watch them for a moment before smiling as I got my rod together and ready to go. I open a can of worms before placing one of it then casting out my line into the water and watching it disappear.

Smiling, I lean my feet up on the side of the boat and sigh. I look around as the birds were chirping and it wasn't too hot out here.

It was such a gorgeous day.

As we were sitting there, I look over towards Tory as she was trying to place a worm on her hook. I couldn't help but slightly laugh, which caught her attention.

She scrunches up her face in disgust and I smiled at her before leaning over and helping her out.

After I got the worm on the hook, I lean back as she looks over at me. I demonstrate how to cast it out and she did just that with such ease.

I smile as I watch her lean back then slowly put her feet up on the side like I had mine. She looks over at me for a moment before smiling at me.

We all three were doing the exact same thing after a few moments. I saw dad with his feet up on the side as well, plus Tory and myself.

I smile as I look towards the water and saw our poles aligned. "I wonder who's going to get a bite first."

Dad looks over at me. "Me. I used catawba worms, not Earth worms." He grins, which makes me shake my head.

"You're cheating." I spoke, which was a lie because any bait works fine.

He smiles before leaning back and looking at the water. I shook my head before looking at the water then across the river at a little campground.

I saw kids running around, playing near the water and some were playing in the water. Good thing this river was wide enough, cause this wouldn't have been the best spot to fish at with all the kids in the water.

After a few minutes of nothing biting, Tory's line moved and we all saw it. "You got something!" Dad yells before leaning up and helping her.

I leaned over and helped them as well as dad was trying to show Tory how to reel the fish in. It was a big one since the pole was bending a little and Tory was struggling to reel it in.

"You got it, babe!" I watch after a few seconds as she finally reels it up and a fish was flopping on the hook before she moved it over into the boat.

I smile at the fish before grabbing it and pulling it off the hook. I hold it towards Tory and dad as he pats her back and smiles. "That's a beauty."

Letting it go, I watch as the fish swims away quickly. I smile over at Tory as she sits back down and looks over at me, smiling.

"So far, Tory is ahead." Dad spoke. "Looks like Carter will be in last place."

Tory laughs as I stuck my tongue out. "You're on, old man!"

Game on.

-

"How was y'alls day?" Mom asks as she came out of the house when we were all getting out of the truck.

I look over at dad as we were at the boat, before seeing Tory smiling big. "I caught the most fish!" She clapped, which was so damn cute.

"That's my girl!" Mom yells, pulling her into a hug.

Smiling, I helped dad grab all the trash and everything out from the truck. We walked into the house afterwards, hearing mom and Tory in the kitchen.

Tory was laughing at something mom said, which made me and dad stop. Watching them for a moment until dad pats my back and we walk out of the kitchen.

We walk into the office and he sits at his desk as I sit on the desk, looking around for a moment until he spoke. "That was a great fishing trip." He smiles as I look at him. "I enjoyed it."

"Yeah," I smile. "that was great. I can't believe Tory beat us."

He laughs as he leans back. "Beginners luck. But she's a damn good fisher." I nod as I look around the office. "Have you and her talked about marriage yet?"

Looking back at him, I nod. "We have. We do want to get married.. one day."

"Can't wait forever, but don't rush it." He leans up and pats my leg. "Stay my little girl a little longer."

I smile as I look at him. "Always. How's Chase doing?"

The thought of him made me remember about his car and those boys. I haven't talked to him in a week, so I wonder what's going on.

"He's great. Doing good in school."

"How's his car?"

He sighs as he leans back. "It's getting worked on right now. I don't know what to do cause I feel like he's keeping something from us."

"What did he say happened again?" I asked because Chase never told me.

"Something about a limb fell on his car. Shattered his window and the top of his car is dented in."

Shaking my head, I can't believe he's lying about. Then again, I've been doing that too. I guess I was setting a bad example back then from lying and keeping secrets.

"Where's he at?"

Dad sighs as he looks at me. "His girlfriends house."

My eyebrows rose as I looked at him. "Who?"

He shrugs. "Don't know. Won't tell us for some reason."

"And you haven't did anything? That's suspicious."

"He's almost seventeen. What am I to do?"

I shook my head as I sigh. "Keep him from going anywhere until he tells you who he's seeing."

Taking my phone out, I sent him a quick text asking who he was seeing. I wanted to know, even if my parents won't find out themselves. I wasn't going to let my brother go down that road again.

The same road with Patricia.

Even though he's seventeen, he's still young and doesn't need to get into any trouble. I care about him and I want to watch out for him.

After my parents visit, Tory and I headed home. It felt great to see them and hang out for the whole day. I really knew that we needed to do this more often then just the weekend, but it was hard when Tory had to work.

"That was so much fun." Tory smiles as we walk inside, greeted by Piper. "Hey, baby." Tory leans down and pets Piper as I lay the keys on the counter.

I smile at her as she leans up and looks at me. "I had so much fun. You were a pro at fishing. Who knew?" I chuckle as she walks towards me and wraps her arms around my neck. "You sure you haven't fished before?"

"I promise." She smiles before kissing me. "I just had luck, I guess." She leans her forehead against mine and I wrap my arms around her. "I love you."

"I love you." I smile as I kiss her. She rubs her nose against mine before pulling away, which I pulled her back towards me and wrapped my arms around her neck. "Who said you could pull away?"

She laughs as I stare at her for a moment, feeling my body react as her hands roamed to my back. I watch her for a moment as I got lost in her eyes, instantly pulling me towards her with no escape.

"Let's go to the bedroom." She pulls on my arm and I follow her upstairs.

Feeling the same feeling I had when I first met her. The feeling that never really leaves.
