CHAPTER NINE:
THE ATTACK
"YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND" Five tried to shrug Luther off
"Try me. Last I checked, I'm still the leader of this family" Luther said
"Last time I checked, your still ignorant" Olive commented
"Well last I checked, I'm 28 years older than you" Five said
Luther turned his torso to face the two, with more of an annoyed look "You know what your problems are?" He asked
"Really hoping you'll tell us Einstein" Olive said with a grin on her face rubbing her finger and thumb together creating electricity in her fingers, getting ready to shock Luther after whatever he was about to say.
"You two think your better than us." He said matter o factly "You always have. Even when we were kids. But the truth is your just as messed up as the rest of us. We're all you guys have." Luther said.
Olive sighed, then reached to his arm and shocked him, he slapped her hand away and she smirked.
"I don't think I'm better than you number one. I know I am" Five said. Luther chuckled
"I've done unimaginable things, things you couldn't even comprehend"
"Right"
"Just to get back here and save you all"
Klaus came out of the corner store with a bunch of bread bags in his hands, with a cop chasing after him
"Hey bitches!" He yelled. Olive chuckled.
"I'm starting to wonder if that was the wisest decision"
"No kidding" Olive said before hopping out of the car and running towards Klaus before they could say anything
Back at the Academy, Luther played the video of mom and dad the night he had died.
"I mean you really think mom would hurt dad?" Vanya asked
"You haven't been home in a long time Vanya, we don't know Grace anymore" Luther said
"Oh so your not even calling her mom anymore? It's Grace? I've been home with here alone for the past two years and she was fine" Olive said "plus, If he was poisoned it would have shown in the coroners report"
"Well I don't need a report to tell me what I can't see with my own eyes" Luther replied
"Maybe all that low gravity messed with your vision" Diego said playing it again
"Look closer. Dad has his monocole. Mom stands up... Monocoles gone"
"Oh yeah" Klaus said
"She wasn't poisoning him. She was.... taking it. To clean it" Diego stated
"Than where is it?" Luther asked "I've searched the house including her things she doesn't have it"
"That's because I took it from her" Diego confessed
"And the plot thickens" Olive said, reaching to take some of Klaus food he was eating
"After the funeral" Diego said
"You've have the moocle this whole time? What the hell diego?" Allison asked
"Give it to me" Luther demanded
"I threw it away"
"You what?"
"Look, I knew that if you found it on mom, you'd lose your shit, just like you are right now" Diego said
"Diego, you son of a bitch"
"Woah calm down" Vanya said "look I know Dad wasn't exactly an open book. But I did remember one thing he said. Mom was designed to be a care taker but also a protector"
"What does that mean?" Allison asked
"She was programmed to intervene when someone's life was in jeopardy"
"Well, if her hardware is degrading, then. We need to turn her off" Luther said
"What?" Olive asked
"Whoa, Whoa, Whoa wait she's not just a vacuum cleaner you can throw in a closet. She feels things I've seen it!"
"She just stood there Diego, and watched our father die"
"I'm with Luther" Allison said
"surprise surprise"
"Shut up" The two looked to Vanya who looked around nervously— either way she would upset someone
"I—I don't—" she stuttered, getting interrupted
"Yeah she shouldn't get a vote" Diego said
"Wh— I was gonna say I agree with you" Vanya said
"Okay, she should get a vote. Olive?"
"I'm with Diego" she said simply giving Luther a smug grin
"What about you stoner boy? What do you got?"
"Oh so what you need my help now?" He asked "oh 'get out of the van Klaus' well, welcome back to the van" Klaus said
"What van?" Allison asked
"ignore it" Olive said
"What's it gonna be Klaus?" Luther asked
"I'm with Diego because screw you. And if Ben were here, he'd agree with me"
"I'm not sure about that" Olive muttered under her breath before she heard faint mumbling like she did earlier, before Klaus hissed at something beside him.
"So that's three"
"Votes not final yet."
"What?"
"Fives not here"
"The whole family has to vote. we owe each other that" Allison said
"Right"
"No. We should wait" Vanya said before Klaus, Allison and Luther all walked away. Olive stood for a second before seeing their mom out of the corner of her eye
"Mom? She said quietly making Diego and Vanya turn there heads. They walked over to her, she looked tired
"Hey" Diego said "how long you been here?"
Mom slowly looked up
"You all seem upset. I'll make cookies" She said happily before walking away a side she'd heard nothing.
17 YEARS AGO
The alarm in the house went off, signaling a mission. Everyone ran around the house, they were still trying to get better at this whole thing
"Coming through. Come on Luther!" Allison said, urging Luther to be faster
"How will the Umbrella Academy ever become an effective crime deterrent if we can't even leave the house on time for missions?" Reginald asked as he walked down the hall
"Behind you" Luther said running past Reginald and to his room
"Come along, children! Come along!" Reginald said clapping his hands
Allison looked through the drawers of her room, panicking
"I can't find my domino mask" she said turning around, and Grade walked it
"It Needed a little bit of TLC after the last mission" Mom said handing Allison her mask
"Thanks mom" she said running off
Luther was in his room doing push-ups
"Ready to go?" Mom asked
"Yeah" he said giving a thumbs up
Olive was running around her room frantically
"Where are my Electric Gloves?" She said running a hand through her hair
"I cleaned them after the last mission, they got a bit ripped up" Mom said handing the black gloves to her
"Thank you so much Mom " she said running out of the room
"Where's my knifes?" Diego yelled
Vanya was in her room playing violin
"Sounds beautiful, Vanya" mom complimented
"Thanks, Mom" Vanya said with a smile
Klaus was jumping on his bed, with his nightstand slightly on fire
"Oh, Klaus" mom said going and putting out the fire
"Thank you mother" Klaus said
"Boys will be boys" she said walking out
"Oh, Ben"
"It—it's stuck" he said pointing at his zipper
Mom fixed it easily and Ben ran off with Olive
"Guys, wait for us!" He exclaimed
"D—Don't mm—Don't mm..mm..mm. Don't muh—muh" Diego stuttered, sighing
"Remember, Diego. Just picture the word in your mind" mom said
"D-Don't mm—muh...Don't mo-move"
"You did it! I'm so proud of you!" Grace said
Reginald cleared his throat at the door
PRESENT DAY
Later that Night, Olive was reading a book from the library when she heard metal against the floor near the main entrance— like something had popped. She immediately perked up at the sudden noise staying on high alert making her way to hide somewhere after hearing soft footsteps coming closer.
"Cha Cha" a voice whispered lowly
two figures entered in the room looking very professionally dressed. Like the ones who ambushed her and Five the other night— without the masks.
"That's our kid." The lady said "see if you can find the girl"
Olive had no clue what to do, but followed them slyly trying to find the others who had disappeared earlier in the house
She bumped into someone, making a loud enough noise for them to hear
It was Diego
a gun cocked at the end of the hall and the two figures came into veiw again out of Luthers room
"Oh shit" she said before Diego pulled her behind him and threw knifes at them while they were firing guns. Olive and Diego were hiding behind a wall before one came to them and Diego started to throw punches
"Olive go!" he said before knocking the head of the shorter masked one and she ran off, seeming as they wanted her as well
She found them again downstairs. Olive used her power to knock one out of the way and electrocute them but the tall one grabbed her by the neck and lifted her off the ground making her gasp for air.
Diego immediately raced over to help her
"Let her go!" Diego punched and kicked the man but he wouldn't let go before Luther came and knocked the guy over and set Olive free making her fall back rubbing her neck that was most likely going to be bruised from how tightly the man was grabbing her.
Luther threw the man into the main foyer as Allison helped Olive up
"Who the hell are these guys?" Allison asked
"Assassins" Olive muttered
"Your welcome" Luther said to Diego
"I had that"
"Oh, yeah you really had them—"
"You ever heard of rope a dope?" Diego asked before more gun fire went off making them duck
"Get out of here now! Go" Luther pushed Allison and Olive towards the doors
"Luther go!"
Olive had some how separated from Allison and was running from the lady with the pink mask
"I just want to talk" the lady yelled
"about what, a death wish?" Olive said as she knocked the gun out of the lady's hands with her telekinesis
"The hell—how did you do that?"
"what? this?" Olive Punched her quickly, she groaned in pain
The masked lady shook her head, and then swung at Olives head and she dodged it. Olive kicked her leg up and the lady caught it, pushing Olive into the railing of the staircase— Olive stayed still for a minute trying to get the lady closer to her and she heard the lady step towards her and she jumped up and swung her legs around to hit the women in the face and knocked her to the ground
Olive walked over to the women on the ground before she used her hand to get up quickly and hit Olives cheek with her foot and then kicked her stomach— knocking the wind out of Olive as she fell on her back.
The lady then left, knowing it would just go on, and that Olive wasn't going to talk to her.
Diego saw her lying there and quickly helped her up and they went to the kitchen where Allison was
"You wanna rumour this phyco?" Diego asked
"I don't need to because this bitch just pissed me off" Allison stood up
"We just want the boy" she said
"Oh? Well in that case" before Allison attacked and got knocked down
"Where is the boy?"
"You would maybe know by now if you and your partner didn't try and kill me" Olive said before kicking her down. All three of them against her hitting her with poles before she ran off
"Get her" Allison handed Diego a sharp object to throw making her grunt
"Come on" he said
