CHAPTER 7
-KYLE BESS
I decide on getting a bit of work done until Yanga walks into the lounge.
“You ok?”
I ask as he throws himself on the couch
“I just broke up with Tif”
He says, for some reason i’m not surprised. Nobody at home ever liked the girl, she was never good enough for Yanga.
“I’m sorry”
I say returning my attention to the screen
“What happened?”
I ask
“Not that you really sorry, none of you ever liked her”
He starts off and I chuckle
“Well you can't blame us. That girl never loved you bro and you’ve let so much of her shiit go”
I say and he rolls his eyes
“I never let anything go, I love Tif”
He says defensively, I shoot him a look and he shrugs
“Yanga you busy with your studies and working, you obviously don’t have enough time and what does she do? Complain that you don’t have enough time for her, she tried to come between us oh and how can I forget how she’s always complaining that you don’t open up enough. Your family has secrets that need to be kept from the public Yanga and she doesn’t want to accept that. Honestly I’m glad things are over between you guys”
I say honestly and he sighs loudly
“It's like you’ve been waiting to say all this”
He says and I chuckle
“Honestly? I have been. I’ve been wanting to lay it on you for quite some time now and nobody either than you will be sad you let her go. You will meet a girl whom you going to fall in love with and things are going to be perfect between you two”
I say and he chuckles
“Wow. So what about you and your other family?”
He asks and I chuckle
“We weren't talking about me here but you”
I say and he laughs
“the tables have turned, how are things there?”
He asks and I sigh
“I don’t know man. Kate is a great parent, she really is and we get along so well but I just get this weird vibe from her husband you know”
I say and he nods
“Even if you don’t like her husband, you still have siblings that you need to maintain a relationship with. They need you as much as we need you Kyle”
He says and I nod
“Lets go out tonight”
I suggest, it's been a while and it's the easiest way to avoid this conversation. I have nothing against my siblings from my mother’s side but we don’t have much of a relationship and none of us are trying to build one. What if they don’t like me? Unlike the Besses, I didn’t watch them grow up before me and I don’t know as much as I know these ones
“I see what you doing but ok, I’ll let it slide”
He says and we laugh as we head up to change
“Aya?”
I ask
“maybe, I think she’s with her boyfriend though and you know how clingy she is”
I say and Yanga laughs
“Call her and see what she says”
I say and then head to my room to change into more comfy clothes. When I’m done I get out and meet Yanga standing outside
“And?”
I ask
“She’s game as long as her boyfriend can join us”
He says and I laugh
“I wouldn’t expect anything less from her. It's whatever”
I say
“And Miso?”
He suggests
“Way too young for a club”
I say and he laughs
“Not if his parents own it. Call the kid and lets hang out as siblings, we need this”
he says and I roll my eyes dialling Miso’s number
“Sup?”
He answers
“Hey little bro, you still awake I see”
I say
“I couldn’t sleep after today’s events and the parents just rushed out”
He says
“Rushed out to where? Everything ok?”
I ask
“Something about going over to Aunty Sino’s house”
He says
“Oh, is she ok?”
I ask
“I don’t know, they weren't specific. All I know is that they just had to rush off to her house, seemed serious”
He says
“Probably is, anyway we going out to dad’s club. Wanna join us?”
I ask
“If dad finds out then I’ll be grounded”
He says, by now we getting into my car and Yanga is driving
“Not if we trick the securities, they know better than to defy us”
I say and he laughs
“you guys are playing a dangerous game but I’m in. I’ll be waiting for you guys”
He says and we say our goodbyes before we end the call
“And?”
He asks
“He’s game. He mentioned something about the parents rushing off to Aunty Sino’s house and that it might have been serious”
I say
“Do you think her husband did something?”
He asks and I frown confused
“What do you mean?”
I ask him
“From what I heard when I got home it sounded as if Aunty Sino is being abused by her husband”
He says
“What?”
I exclaim in shock and he shrugs
“I didn’t get the whole story but it's probably something like that”
He says
“I hope she’s ok, Miso said it sounded serious”
I say
“It probably is. We’ll see if the parents call us and if they don’t then we have nothing to worry about yet”
He says and I nod. We park outside and call Miso’s phone, he walks out and we drive off. Aya calls to let us know that we’ll meet there.
“If I get grounded, it's your fault”
He says and I chuckle, I think Miso and I are the only good kids our parents have because Aya and Yanga are emotional, they so much like our parents combined
“Don’t worry your little head, enjoy for now and deal with the parents later”
Yanga says and we all laugh
