Author's POV
It was around 11 in night when the whole palace was silent, all were in their rooms sleeping. Taani was sitting at the window in her room looking at the night, Sharon had already retired for the night. A sudden ring of her mobile brought her back to the real world, she unlocked it to find a text message from Rey, she frowned thinking what it could be at this hour, she opened the message and read it,
Wanna go for a ride, you, me and phoenix?
She bit her lip contemplating for a moment but then the thought of riding a horse in twilight with stars shining in sky and the moon in the horizon that too in a beautiful place like this was too tempting to deny so she typed an 'okay' to which she immediately got a reply,
Come down to the garden, I am waiting!
She looked at Sharon who was sleeping soundly, not wanting to disturb her she tip-toed out of the room and descending the stairs walked towards the garden where he was already there in his white shirt and back pants patting phoenix lovingly, she looked down towards her attire and slapped her forehead as she was in her pjs, in excitement she forgot to even change her clothes. But now it was too late to go back and change so she moved forward towards them. Rey turned feeling the air change around him indicating her presence. He smiled looking at her dressed in a cute nightgown, she looked so pretty dressed like that in night, only he knew how much he controlled himself from grabbing her and forget riding the horse but take her to a ride to heaven there and then itself but he resisted the urge.
She reached him nervously fidgeting with her fingers looking around not sparing him a glance, he chuckled before holding her hand and said gratefully,
"Thank you for coming!"
"I wouldn't miss meeting phoenix." She told him moving towards the black horse caressing his head, Rey smiled at her before asking eagerly,
"Shall we?"
"There is a problem, I forgot to change and there is no way me iss dress me ride kar paungi." She said with a sad face while he smirked at her in return,
"Vo tum mujhpe chod do."
He walked towards her and holding her waist making her conscious as she was wearing such a thin layer of clothing, he hoisted her up on the horse, her legs on one side as she was sitting sideways, he too climbed it after her settling himself behind her.
"Perfect?"
She hummed at him in response before Rey patted phoenix lightly urging him to move without making any sound as he surely do not want anyone seeing them at this hour.
The moment was like a fairytail, a horseride in the middle of night, with stars shining so brightly causing a twinkling shade to come on there surrounding, the moon was bright and almost full. It was like they had suddenly entered in a Disney fairytail, they stopped in front of the pond in the garden where the moon and stars were reflecting in water, it truly looked like heaven. Rey sighed happily at the moment they were experiencing, it was like they were in heaven. Taani laughed slightly at the cliché situation making him confused, he looked at her raising his eyebrow asking her what happened,
"Nothing, just that everything is so cliché just like a fairytail. Do you think we have entered some story Cinderella or beauty and the beast or snow white."
He laughed and then made a thinking face,
"Well, I don't exactly remember any of those fairy tail character taking horse ride in night, so ye humari fairytail ho sakti hai."
He said and jumping down he helped her down too before leaving the horse to graze some grass, they both sat at the stone beside the pond with Rey leaning on it and Taani leaning on him with her back to his chest while he had his arms around her.
She was stirring the water lightly with her one hand when she suddenly said,
"Do you know you just fulfilled one of my wishes."
He was amused by the fact, he just wanted to spend time with her but never thought he was fulfilling her wish, the thought did make him proud and happy,
"Really, which one?"
"I always wanted to ride a horse in moonlight, it was with you was just a bonus. And this night is icing on the cake."
He could see the content smile that was on her face, he has witnessed it after a long time, the thought of making her happy like this often was very intriguing,
"Tell me what more you want to do?"
The question must have shocked her as she looked at him a little amused,
"Matlab?"
"Ohho, tell me your wishlist." He asked again, she nervously smiled before thinking something and then shook her head,
"I don't have one."
"Liar! C'mon tell me." He pressed more on the matter while she continuously kept denying but finally gave up in front of his stubbornness.
"It's very silly, trust me."
He frowned at her saying,
"Wishes are never silly jaan, ab bolo bhi."
She heaved a deep breathe before saying,
"Okay, you asked for it," she pointed her index finger up indicating one,"I want to get drunk once." Then put out a second finger, "Do underwater diving!" and the third finger, "Want to be treated like a princess for a day" then the fourth finger came up, "Ride a horse which I did two times today, so this one is complete." And then she hesitatingly put the fifth finger out saying,
"Last one is totally absurd..." He looked at her pointedly coaxing her to say whatever it is, "I want to go on a blind date, you know experience it, meeting some guy and seeing how it turns out."
His eyebrows immediately shot upwards at her last one while a sudden possessiveness engulfed him at the thought of her going on a blind date with someone,
"Now, that one I do have a problem with, but we can always pretend like two strangers and go on a date and get to know the other one."
He hoped that she agrees to the idea and she didn't seem to mind,
"Okay, I can modify it a little bit, no problem."
"Any other?" He asked her when she thought a little and said,
"Yeah, I want to visit the Effiel Tower, which I have already, but with someone I love and you know..." She said without looking at him, "umm kiss."
He laughed a little at her never ending nervousness at saying such a sweet simple word. She is his shy doll who can't even say it without blushing, only god knows how she managed to have such a fantasy.
"This one sounds exciting to me." He chuckled, she slapped him lightly on his hand and leaned more backwards,
"Aap mujhse ye sab kyu puch rahe the?"
He just shrugged his shoulders in response at her question and changed the topic suddenly,
"By the way, me tumhare liye ek gift laaya tha." He bought out something from his pocket, it was a small cylinder packet making her frown and she asked him excitedly,
"Ye kya hai?"
"Close your eyes first."
Saying this he caressed his hand on her face closing her eyes, he unwrapped the gift and taking her hand in his he started to put it in, Taani immediately guessed that he was making her wear bangles as he was putting something round in her hands, after he was done he asked her to open her eyes,
"You can now open your eyes."
She opened them and her eyes twinkled four silver bangles dancing in her wrist, they had small intricate design and some noisy danglings which clinked whenever she moved her hand. They were so beautiful, she was continuously jiggling her bangles making noise making him smile glad that she liked his gift.
"They are beautiful."
She told him, happiness was reflecting on her face which gave him immense peace and satisfaction, it felt great to be the reason of her happiness. Taking her hand in his he kissed it softly and then her finger tips one by one and at last her palm, she giggled at this as his slight stubble was tickling her hand. They spent their time in talking and teasing each other, he was playing with her bangles all the time caressing her wrist softly in between making shivers pass down her whole body. He found her getting sleepy and they headed back putting phoenix back in his stable, they were standing in front of the stable when Taani hugged him,
"Thank you so much for tonight."
He shook his head hugging her in return and said,
"Thank you so much for coming."
They broke the hug but were still standing very close to each other when a sudden urge to kiss her goodbye crept in him. Leaning towards her he kissed her forehead first, then he looked in her eyes which made him go insane for a second, he was finding it really difficult to keep the distance so deciding against it he leaned forward, their eyes closed automatically while she too leaned in unconsciously, their lips just inches apart from touching, their breathes mingling with each other, just before he could kiss her they heard a sound and immediately parted, Phoenix had neighed loudly before they could kiss, it was a miss again. Rey cursed again mentally, suddenly the affection he had for his buddy was gone, he continuously threw profanities at his sheer luck. Taani was flushed at the thought of what was going to happen she looked at him,
"Good night!" Saying this and kissing phoenix last time she ran towards her room without giving him a chance to react. He sighed dejectedly, another one missed. He will surely go insane if this continues.
