My heart is a cavern
It stretches on and on
It can be empty or full
It can be light or dark
Your words fill the space
Your words are the lights
And I wish I never heard you speak
But was forever empty
Forever dark
That is better
Than this constant struggle
Empty and full
Light and dark
I wait in the middle
I look for the lights
They flare and then fade
I stare at the spot
Where they disappeared
Because I can't stand the dark
And see a faint glow

Then I would not know
There was this thing called light
I would not have to know
The pain and the wait
When all the lights go out
If only you had never
Spoke a word to me
If only you would never
Speak again to me
Now I am always in despair
Even watching the light
Knowing of the fade
Where can there be joy
In knowing of the end
The fate to glow
To be a shadow
An echo
Glow
But now I know light
And I can never be content in the dark
Or with this constant glow
Of dying memories of the light
And how we used to be.
