the next few days jj, kie, and pope would spend hours talking to john b and sarah. sloane would sit with any of them when they needed her. they all learned pretty quickly that she was a good shoulder to cry on. jj had started to smoke more and sloane knew that he was hurting and she hoped that jj seeing john b would bring him back. jj wasn't really worried about seeing john b. he was worried about the memories it would cause to flood back and the person that would return. would sloane love that side of jj too?
it was wednesday and john b and sarah were flying in tomorrow. jj had spent the day surfing clearly anxious and sloane decided to clean up the chateau and stock it with food and drinks knowing that sarah and john b would want to just be home and not have to worry about the crazy mess. as sloane finished cleaning jj walked in.
"hi beautiful" jj said looking at sloane as he put his surfboard against the wall.
"hi." she giggled at him he always made her blush with his plethora of nicknames.
"you did all this?" jj asked gesturing to the cleanliness around him.
"i thought it was the least i could. for you. for them." she told him.
"you're perfect you know that?" jj said grabbing sloanes face and kissing her. she tasted like weed and pineapple and that made him wanna kiss her more. sloane pulled away after a while and handed him a beer.
"what's gonna happen when they come home? you can't go back to your dad j." sloane asked clearly worried.
"well i'll stay here some and if it's okay with you i'll stay with you. i'll be fine." he said reassuringly.
"why don't you just stay with me?" sloane said before really thinking.
"like live? with you?" he said confused.
"i don't wanna see you get hurt jj and if i can keep you away from danger by you living with me than that's what i'll do." she told him.
"okay. i'll stay with you." he said sitting on the couch next to her wrapping an arm around her shoulder. she smiled and let her head fall in the crook on his neck. he couldn't help but think about the fact that he was finally loved.
"are you nervous for tomorrow?" sloane whispered.
"i'm more nervous about what will follow seeing them. and i want them to love you like i do." he said running his fingers through his hair. "not that i think they won't, i think you and sarah will get along. i just don't want to change." he said finally getting out what he needed to.
"what do you mean,change?" she asked him.
"i don't wanna be the angry guy that pulls guns on people and steals from drug dealers again and i worry that that's what will happen and you won't wanna be with that side of me." he said starting to slowly pull away from how close they were sitting.
"hey, i know you. i know who you are deep down under all that anger and brokenness and i love all of that boy and the emotions that come with it make you human and that's okay." she said rubbing her thumb against his cheek.
"i love you." he whispered into the kiss as he brought to her lips. she couldn't help but smile against his lips.
their bruises didn't matter to each other
they were home.
