Jack lay on his bed, looking up the ceiling. He couldn't sleep. There was too much on his mind.
He was trying to stop thinking about what had happened earlier, how bad things had gotten so quickly. His parents were always fighting, but it had never gotten this bad.
They had started arguing over dinner, which turned into a yelling match soon after Jack and his younger sisters left the table. He knew that they were scared for their parents. Ava was old enough to know what was going on, but Isla was still young. They tried to keet her shielded from the worst of it, but even she couldn't miss the screaming coming from the kitchen.
The boy sighed, knowing that he wanted to talk to someone. Someone who take his mind off of things for a while. He grabbed his phone from his bedside table.
He unlocked his phone, now looking at his home screen. It was a picture of his boyfriend, Corbyn. He had taken it when they had first started dating, almost a year ago. He was sitting on the couch kissing Simon, Jack's cat. He loved this picture so much. It was one of his favourites of him.
He opened the messages app and went to Corbyn's contact.

He looked at the time; it was almost 1:30 AM. He bit his lip, crossing his fingers in hopes that he would still be awake. He smiled slightly when he saw that he was typing.

Jack smiled contently and turned off his phone. He connected it to his charger and put it back down on his table. Wrapping himself in his comforter, he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
