Y/N was woken up by a beam of light from the windows besides the bed. She squinted her eyes and turned away. Kelly was asleep next to her, his right arm was looped around her side and his hand was placed on her hip.
Y/N smiled at how peaceful Kelly looked while he was asleep. Last time she woke up cuddling Kelly she had a reason to regret it. Kelly had a girlfriend at the time, but now that Kelly was single. Y/N enjoyed being so close with him.
After last night Y/N appreciated Kelly on a whole new level. All night Kelly sat with Y/N and reassured her that she was safe. He hugged her, rubbed her arms, wiped the tears off her face. He even walked with her down the street so they could get ice cream from the local 7-11.
Y/N remembered Kelly's request when they woke up in each other's arms last time. She reached up and gently played with Kelly's textured hair.
When Y/N's nails lightly scratched Kelly's scalp he spoke up with a groggy voice, "That feels good."
"I didn't know you were up," Y/N rubbed his locks in between her fingers. "The light woke me up," He pointed to the window.
"Yea, me too," They laid in silence. Kelly's finger traced circles on Y/N's bare back as she continued to play with his hair.
"Thank you," Y/N spoke up. Kelly's eyes opened for the first time when he asked, "For what?"
"For last night. It means a lot."
"That wasn't nothing," Kelly lightly shook his head. "Yes it was," Y/N immediately argued with him, "I don't know what would've happened if you weren't there."
"You're the only person who I feel safe around anymore," Y/N said without confidence. Kelly didn't say anything which made Y/N nervous. But when Kelly's lips touched her forehead she smiled.
"We got to get up," Y/N breathed out, "The family reunion is today." She didn't want to leave bed, it was so soft and comfy. She also didn't want to leave the warmth of Kelly's arms.
"I don't want to," Kelly whined and pulled Y/N closer to him. Y/N was happy that the feeling of not wanting to leave each other's embrace was mutual.
"We have to," Y/N took her hand out of his hair and lightly pushed Kelly's chest. "On one condition," Kelly said.
When Y/N asked what that condition was, he answered with, "Only if you play with my hair tonight."
"Deal," Y/N patted his chest then sat up.
"Where is this reunion anyway?" Kelly asked as he stretched his limbs in bed.
"Yea," Y/N rubbed her palms together, "It's at our family camp, which means woods, which means insects."
"Nah man," Kelly raised his voice, "I don't fuck with them. This was not apart of the deal."
"There was no deal," Y/N lightly chuckled, "You basically hopped in my luggage and came with me."
"Yea, whatever," Kelly huffed out and got out of bed. The two spent the next hour and a half getting ready to leave. Kelly sat on the bed with his phone in his hand as he waited for Y/N to get out of the bathroom.
"Ready," Y/N walked out. Kelly looked her up and down. "Got my ice on," Y/N joked as she showed Kelly the chain he got her hanging around her neck.
"Icey," Kelly smiled at her as they walked out of their hotel room. His mood was raised when he saw the 'K' pendant attached to the chain.
"You're my right hand, you my go to. Told me everything about you, that's a bold move," Kelly sang along to an old Drake song as Y/N drove them to her families camp. "I know that you're out here, and there's things you gotta go through. Just know that these streets don't love you like I do. And they never will."
"Who hurt you?" Y/N laughed as she looked at Kelly get in his feelings. Kelly ignored the question and said, "I'm getting in the booth as soon as we get back to Phoenix."
"Sounds like a good idea as long as you let me go on tours when you pop off," Y/N shrugged. She wasn't joking either, she had full confidence that Kelly would have the mindset to blow up in the music industry too.
"Imma need a music manager," Kelly told her. Y/N shook her head, "So you want me to be your best friend, baby mother, fuck buddy, and manager?"
"You know what that relationship sounds like?" Y/N asked. Kelly looked at her for a response, "Messy."
The two arrived at the camp. A large amount of people were at this lot of land, "Damn. How much family you got?"
"This ain't even half of them," Y/N opened the rental car door. Kelly and Y/N walked up to the party. As soon as people saw Y/N they started to yell in excitement.
"Y/N!" A woman ran up to Y/N and wrapped her arms around Y/N's neck. "Hi, Chantel,"
Y/N chuckled. Kelly recognized the name, Chantel and Y/N we're cousins. Before Y/N moved to Phoenix her and Chantel were inseparable.
The two let go of each other and Y/N introduced her two best friends, "Chantel this is Kelly. Kelly this is Chantel."
The two said their hello's before Kelly said,
"Y/N talks about you all the time. About the crazy stuff y'all got into."
"We used to be wilding," Chantel laughed at Kelly, "I see grandma staring at you over there. You better go say hello. I got to go help mom with the kid games."
"Alright," Y/N nodded her head as Chantel walked away. Y/N guided Kelly over to her grandma who was sitting on the porch of their cabin. On their way there Y/N was stopped by many family members.
"Hi, grandma," Y/N smiled when she stood in front of her grandmother. "Oh hi baby," Her grandma tilted her head for a kiss on the cheek. Y/N sweetly kissed her grandma's cheek and introduced Kelly to her.
"Grandma, this is Kelly," Y/N told her. Her grandma furrowed her brows together. Kelly chuckled because he already knew what she was confused about, "Yea. My pops didn't help me out by naming me Kelly. You should've seen the teachers in school when they called the name Kelly, and I raised my hand."
Y/N's grandma laughed and lovingly took Kelly's hand. "It's nice to meet you sweetie." Before Kelly could respond two kids jumped on his back.
Kelly smiled when he realized it was Y/N's niece and nephew. Jackie and Trey, "Aye it's my best friends," Kelly lifted Trey up and threw him over his shoulder. "Hi, Kelly," Jackie smiled at him.
Y/N's cousin Chaze walked up to her. "What's good, Y/N?" Y/N sat down in a chair next to her grandmother and said, "Nothing much. Living life."
"Nah. You don't get to act normal. Acting like you didn't just roll up with Kelly Oubre Jr," Chaze laughed. Y/N shook her head with a smile on her face, "You knew that I know him."
"I ain't think you was gonna pull up with him?" Chaze said, "Could've warned me. Would've trained so I could smoke him in some basketball."
"Okay," Y/N laughed and threw her head back. "I mean, you could still try," Kelly said from behind him. Chaze and Kelly both looked at the makeshift basketball hoop they had.
"Go for it," She told Kelly and Chaze, "Just don't break his ankles too bad Kelly."
"No faith," Chaze shook his head. "Jackie I need a cheerleader, and Trey I need a hype man. Let's go," Kelly told the two kids. They happily joined him and Chaze.
"He your boyfriend?" Y/N's grandma nodded towards Kelly. Y/N smiled, "No. We've been friends for years."
"He should be your boyfriend, look at him," She said. Y/N busted out laughing, "Grandma."
"What," Grandma shrugged her shoulders, "He's cute. Why was it a big deal for Chaze to play basketball with him?"
"He's in the NBA, he's a professional basketball player," Y/N explained. Grandma's jaw almost dropped, "You need to date him."
Y/N kept laughing at her grandmother.
"You've already got him wrapped around your finger. No 'friend' comes to a family reunion."
When Y/N was about to explain to her grandma her and Kelly's relationship, she saw Kelly laying down on the court floor. Kelly held his knee in his hand, Y/N's heart dropped when she remembered his knee injury that he got surgery for a couple months back.
"Kelly, you good?" Y/N yelled for him as she stood up from her chair. Kelly nodded his head and got back up, "All good." He instantly started playing with Chaze again.
Y/N took a deep breathe then sat back down,
"He tore the meniscus in his knee while playing a game a couple months back."
"He had to get surgery. He hasn't played basketball since. This is actually the first time I've seen him play since then," Y/N explained to her grandmother.
"He seems to be recovering well." Y/N's grandma commented.
"He thrives on the court for real," Y/N smiled at how much fun Kelly seemed to be having. "Grandma, look at him."
Y/N's smile went from ear to ear. "He seems to have you wrapped around his finger too," Grandma mumbled as she saw Y/N's eyes beam with happiness.
