"hey cutie, come here often?" at yoojin's words you rolled your eyes, a smile gracing your lips. you pushed past her as a small laugh escaped her, and you plopped down onto the couch beside renjun who arrived as the first person.
your eyes immediately landed on the bowl of chips, mumbling a small greeting to renjun before grabbing a handful of the salty snacks. renjun rolled his eyes at you, and unfortunately found himself smiling slightly as he watched you eat the handful in one bite.
"you shouldn't eat snacks before dinner." those words left your best friend, and you couldn't help but playfully roll your eyes at his words. you grabbed another handful of chips. you stared directly at him, poked your tongue out before doing the exact same, eating them all at once. it only made renjun shake his head, a small fond smile on his face.
"you're my best friend, not my mom." the smile fell a little bit at that. he hated how the word left you so easily. how you so easily called him your best friend, as if he hadn't confessed his love for you just days ago. he didn't exactly blame you though, he did say that he'd be fine after a couple of days. a couple of days had apparently not been enough, he concluded. as he watched you smile, he couldn't kill the butterflies in the stomach like he had hoped he could.
"well, better than nothing." the words left him before he could stop himself, and he immediately knew that you'd feel bad.
"renjun, i'm so-" he shook his head at your words, cutting you off before your apology could get out, "no, no. you're right. i'm your best friend. always will be."
there was a small smile on his face. not the usual smile that you loved to see on his face. this smile didn't reach his eyes, it didn't come from his heart. before you could say anything else though, the sound of the door rather harshly being opened echoed through yoojin's house.
"hello bitches!" lucas shouted as he walked through the door, not even knocking on it before he almost knocked it down and waltzed in with mark right behind him. mark pinched the bridge of his nose.
"by cl." you had said, right after lucas had said hello, and the sheer disappointment on lucas' and mark's face made it all worth it. mark sighed, acting like he absolutely hated being there before taking a seat beside you, "you think you're funny, don't you?"
"hilarious, actually." you answered, and mark greeted renjun with a weird handshake thing that you swore you'd never understand. lucas opened his bag, cheering a bit as he pulled out bottles of alcohol and you pulled a small face of disgust. alcohol wasn't for you.
"sit down everyone. i'll go get your welcome drinks." yoojin clapped her hands together, a large grin on her face, excited that her best friends for the first time were drinking together. lucas sat down as he had been the only one standing other than yoojin and she disappeared into the kitchen, appearing with drinks on a tray afterwards.
"i'm not gonna drink so much today, yoojin. i never drank before, like, you know, really drank." you told her as she handed you a drink that you were a bit suspicious of. she was your best friend and you wouldn't be surprised if she had mixed nothing but alcohol together for you. lucas snorted at your words, "that's what they all say."
"no, i mean it, i will not be drinking much." mark nodded at your words, not convinced. then he held up his drink. you all copied him, and in unison you shouted one single word, "cheers!"
