Harold was in a wheelchair now, an IV still in his arm. He was on painkillers and pumped up on drugs, keeping him in a daze as he stares at the TV. Harold slept, his great grandson putting him in bed and turning the TV on in his room. Harold was calmer, his stomach calming down. Harold slept for five more hours, seeing my two year old Irish-African little brother (who just turned two a few days before) waddle in, his diaper off as he coos, learning how to be a dad as he healed over the next six months. He actually put Lance to sleep once, changed Lance's diaper, and fed Lance. 19 times out of 20, you would catch him napping, fast asleep with Lance, both under the covers.
