Chapter 12:

I woke up to a loud banging against my door. Sitting up I yelled, "it's unlocked." before hidding under the covers. Heels clicking against the hardwood floor approached my room. I knew that sound anywhere. Airlia.

"What do you want?" I said a little more grumpy then I had intended.

Her soft laughter filled the room. "For you to get up because I'm taking you somewhere." She yanked the covers off of me and threw them on the floor.

"Hey!" I yelped as I tried to grab something to cover my skimpy pajamas. Airlia's face lit up even more when she saw my clothes. "What? These are old." Like old Blaire old.

They were pink and white, lacy and silky at the same time. Total popular Blaire status.

Airlia shook her head. "Whatever, come on get dressed." I looked at the clock it was the middle of the day, which meant night time for the school.

"Where?" I asked as I got up, rummaging through my Gothic clothing. Most of it was in piles on the floor. The school didn't provide enough closet space for my liking.

"Grab something sexy." Airlia said as she flopped down on my bed, bouncing as she watched me go through the massive pile.

"Uhm sexy?" I was expecting everyday ware. Or gym clothes. I didn't know if I owned anything sexy. Sexy clothing got attention, attention I tried to avoid.

Airlia had on black leather boots that reached her knees, a red skirt that was so short I had to look away because it revealed so much, and a tight black top that showed off her boobs more than I would have liked.

"Yeah I'm taking you to a party." She said as she swung her legs back and forth, hitting my bed with her boots.

I dropped the black top I had been holding. The old Blaire perked her head inside my chest at the sound of party. I used to go to them all the time before my parents died, I drank but never got drunk. I always had fun at parties back then. The new Blaire avoided them. Because when there was a party that meant lots of people. Something I had tried to avoid.

"That's really a cruel thing for you to do. You know I have been a ghost this past week trying to avoid everything. And you go and invite me to a party where there is going to be more people and questions?" I didn't mean to sound so harsh but she should have known better than that.

It didn't affect her. "It's all of our friends." Meaning her friends. "Mason, Maxine, Jackie, Ronald, Blade, Jason and others will be there. Please?" Airlia gave me huge puppy dog eyes, making me feel like a mom who wouldn't buy her kid a toy in Toys R Us.

I sighed as I continued to go through the pile. "Sure I'll go, if I find something to wear." I said as I pulled out one of my best looking things I owned.

I held in my hands a short, low cut top and very very sexy black dress. It shined as it caught the dim light in my room. I heard Ailria gasp behind me. "Is that a designer?" I could feel her breath against my neck. Making me wince as I scooted away from her.

"Uhm yeah." I had forgotten I owned this. It was the one dress I had decided to keep. It earned me a lot of turning heads and double glances from guys.

I looked back at Airlia. "Is this okay?" I was hoping she would say no. Because this dress will definitely earn me a lot of attention tonight.

"It's perfect." I could feel my face fall. Great, more attention tonight. Just what I needed. Airlia pushed me towards my door. "Well go on, get dressed." I started to step though the doorway when Airlia caught my arm. "Hey don't put too much makeup on okay?"

I looked at her curiously but decided not to say anything. I was going to look like the old Blaire tonight. And most likely going to get a boyfriend or a lot of attention from the guys. Lovely. Stupid dress, why hadn't I thrown you away a long time ago?

I took Airlia's advice. Wearing my  red lipstick and mascara. Leaving the heavy eyeliner and dark makeup off for tonight. I glanced at my self in the mirror and did a double take.

God. I looked exactly like the old Blaire. I had only seen her in pictures for the past two years, and here she was standing in the flesh. I definitely was going to get a lot of double takes.

As Airlia and I walked down the halls I looked at her questioningly. "So why do I have to wear this?" I said as I looked down at the tight sexy dress my body wore. Not approving of what it was wearing.

"Because its a dance party thing. Mason's throwing it. He does every year, only its a secret because of the adults. They can't know about it.." That was just great. As we walked down the halls I couldn't help but wonder what would happen if Zane found out I went to this. Would he get mad? Most likely.

Sighing I let Airlia lead me upstairs to the very top floor. I was surprised to see only four doors. Each floor was the same size and were massive. Each floor besides this one had to hold at least twenty rooms.

"Why are there only four rooms?" I said more to myself than to Airlia. Taking in the whole floor, it was a lot fancier. Carpet on the floors instead of wood, chandeliers hanging on the ceiling, and everything was the color of gold. I couldn't help but wonder if the gold was real.

"These are called lofts, or suites. They're more expensive and only royalty can get them."

"Royalty?"

"Yeah, not all hunters are low lives. Royalty have their share in being hunters as well."

I then considered something. "Does that mean Mason is royalty?" Because after all he was the one running the party.

Airlia nodded. Whoa, I would have never guessed. Mason didn't act how royalty should. He acted like a normal teenager would. He would have been the last person I guessed to be royal.

Airlia stopped us at the door at the very end of the hallway. Music softly booming against the closed wooden door. Airlia opened up the door, not bothering to walk in.

Lights flashed around the huge and massive room. Dancing bodies filled the middle of the room. The music rang in my ears as Airlia led me into another room, this one quieter than the last. I had to resist the urge to gasp.

In the middle of the room was a stage, equipped with drums, guitars, basses and a microphone. I looked at Airlia questioningly.

She smiled. "Mason's a guitarist, best one we have. He does live performances for the school, sometimes travels."

I almost fell over. "He's only seventeen!" I said over the loud music.

Airlia nodded. "I know, he's that amazing."

"Is he playing tonight?" Because I was curious on just how well he could play.

Airlia gave me one of her dazzling smiles. "Yep, and you're going to love it."

I nodded in agreement but didn't say anymore as she led me through the large room.

I was shocked once again. Mason was royalty and a rock star. No wonder he could afford a place like this. Airlia gave me a tour of the rest of the house.  Which consisted of four bedrooms bigger than my whole dorm, four bathrooms, a walk in closet that was bigger than my dorm once again, a huge kitchen and living room.

Airlia stopped at a door that was on the other end of Mason's whole house. She opened it up to reveal a stair case like the one in the lobby.

"Where does this lead to?" I asked as I looked up the narrow stair case. I didn't even know they had another floor.

"Mason's game room, and roof." She said as she took the lead up the stairs. I found myself jumping with excitement. If his whole house was like a mansion apartment I couldn't wait to see this part of his house.

The music faded away as we descended up the flight of stairs. Loud bursts of laughter rang through the staircase as we approached yet another door.

The room was as I had expected. A projector screen, that had some zombie video game on it, a pool table, hockey table, smaller plasma screen T.V's sat in every corner. Huge couches faced each T.V, surround sound system and he even had a bar. Everything was black as well, which made me smile.

Mason walked up to us, or rather Airlia. "Hey." He said with a lazy smile. I could see Airlia blush a little. Huh, wouldn't expect that from her.

Oh. They liked each other. Which I found funny because they didn't seem like a couple. I mean they didn't hold hands or anything. But then they could see each other without being bothered about dating. They could sneak into each others rooms because according to the school they are just friends and don't need to be watched. Secret love is the best way to go I guess.

Mason turned to me and in his eyes I could see the shock. Shock at what I was wearing and how I looked without the makeup. But his face didn't reveal anything. I figured it was because of Airlia, I had to give him credit for being a gentlemen.

A boy came up just then. He had black messy hair and big brown eyes. It took me a minute to recognize that it was Jason. I smiled at him, giving him the old Blaire smile. He ate it right up.

Jason swung an arm around me, making me feel a little weird. I had feelings for Zane but he wasn't here. So I shouldn't feel bad, I mean its not like I'm going to be dating Jason anytime soon. And the old Blaire was overpowering the new one, so I had no choice but to lead Jason on.

He gave me one of his dazzling smiles. "Nice dress." He said as he lead me to one of the couches.

I looked down at it, proud it still fit and made my body look a hundred times better than it had two years ago. "Thanks." Was all I said as we sat down on the couch.

Airlia took Mason's arm and let him lead her to our couch, sitting down next to me Airlia seemed like she was about to faint. This made me smile, she could take on a crowed of people and give them everything and not break a sweat. But with Mason she was like shy and quiet.

Jason kept an arm around my waist as we sat there watching Mason's friends take on Zombies. I didn't like gore, not at all. Especially when my parents had died, that scene I would never forget. So I had to turn my head and focus on something else. My eyes fell on Jason's.

"I like this new look, I can see more of you." He said with a smile. He would be sexy if I didn't have a queasy stomach.

I nodded. Not able to say anything else when a loud voice overpowered all the noise around us.

"Mason. Concert" Just those two simple words and Mason was up, dashing for the door and heading down the stairs faster than any of us could get up.

Airlia was the first to get up, walking towards the staircase, I followed her with Jason in tow. The music downstairs was turned off, everyone chattering as they stood in the large room that had the stage set up in it.

Airlia led us to the front. Jason grabbed my hand, lacing his fingers between mine. I didn't hesitate, I needed to find someone else to like other than Zane. Liking Zane was just wrong. And Jason felt right.

We waited for what seemed like forever when finally Mason came into view standing behind the microphone with a pick in one hand, a guitar in the other.

He smiled at Airlia and then at the rest of the crowed. I was expecting him to start right off the bat, but no, Mason was going all rock star tonight.

"How's everyone doing?" That earned him a roar of cheers and noise from behind us. Mason laughed. "Thanks for coming, we're going to play a couple of songs and then the rest of the night is yours."

Everyone cheered, but suddenly got quiet when Mason got into the position to play the guitar. I guess he was good.

Mason looked down at his guitar smiling as if it held all the secrets of the world. When his pick hit the guitar it was like magic.

Sweet music came out of it, making the crowed sing along to one of his popular songs. Even Airlia was singing along, Jason hummed to the melody. I stood there taken back by his magic guitar skills.

Mason was lost in his guitar I could tell because I did the same thing with the piano. I had quit after my parents death but I knew that feeling. The feeling of having nothing but that instrument in your hands.

It was like blackness was surrounding you, and all you could see was the instrument. And when you played it it was like magic, a cure to all sadness and bad things in your life. Music really is the best medicine.

After Mason was done he looked back into the cheering crowed. Eyes falling on Airlia's. She smiled, he smiled back and without glancing away from her he announced, "this next one is about a special girl in my life."

Airlia seemed like she was about to fall over. This song was obviously new. The song talked about how the girl was his world, how she was what held him to the Earth instead of gravity and how he would trade everything just to be with her.

I smiled at Airlia's reaction. They were really in love. Love I had once but lost after my parents death. I knew the feeling of loving that special someone. But knew I'd never have it again. How can you find love twice? It only happened once in a lifetime and if you lost it then surely you couldn't find it again.

Mason played a few more songs before his concert ended. Jason, Airlia and I met Mason afterwords. He took Airlia into his arms. Jason and I stood there watching them. I didn't feel awkward, Mason and Airlia couldn't be together because he was supposed to date someone royal. According to his father.

Airlia and Mason had to make the best of what they could, hiding from media and keeping their love for each other a secret. I felt pity for them, that really sucked. Not having a choice in who to marry and being in love with someone who you couldn't spend the rest of your life with.

Mason took us back up to the game room. He and Jason challenged each other at guitar hero. I laughed at this, Jason didn't stand a chance against Mason.

Airlia and I made bets, she chose Mason, which left me with Jason. To my surprise Jason came close to Mason's high score.

"Re-mach Mase, right now." Jason said as he picked the next song.

"Really dude? You want the humiliation of being beat twice?"

Jason snorted. "I'll win this time." I laughed, Jason was such a sore looser.

Surprisingly Jason won by a couple points. He jumped up and down laughing as he pointed at a defeated Mason. "I told you! I just beat you and you play guitar!"

Mason wasn't going to let his friend win. "Yeah me being on expert and you being on medium, whats wrong with that?"

Jason was too happy to be insulted. "Someone who cant press the orange key just beat a rock star guitar player, that's whats wrong."

Mason punched Jason in the arm. "Whatever you got lucky." Mason laughed as he sat back down next to Airlia and me. Jason shrugged it off and continued to play guitar, loosing against everyone else.

The sun was starting to set and I knew school was going to start soon. I slipped away from all of them, leaving to go back to my room to get in a couple more hours of sleep.

I ran into Zane just outside my door. The school wasn't supposed to be up yet and here I was dressed up and about to go back to my room. Sneaking wasn't really my thing.

Zane looked at me surprised. "What are you doing up?" He stood in front of me, preventing me to proceed any further. I glared at him.

"What are you doing up?" I asked in the same tone he had used with me. I wasn't mad just tired and sleep deprived.

He raised an eyebrow. "Making sure students like you don't sneak around in the middle of the night going to parties."

I grunted. "I wasn't at a party." I really was a horrible liar.

"Really then why are you wearing..." Zane looked down at my outfit. And just like every guy at Mason's party he stared at my dress. I smiled satisfied that even someone like him was awed by my looks.

Zane took a step closer. I could feel my heart race. He placed a hand on my hip, tearing his eyes away from my sexy dress to look into my eyes. It was like he was seeing me for the first time. I had forgotten that I wasn't wearing any Gothic makeup.

"Your so... so..." Zane paused for the right word. "Beautiful."

"I'm... what?" I knew Zane had feelings for me but I had expected him to keep them more in control.

"You aren't wearing any makeup, this is what you really look like?" I nodded. Zane's hand traveled up to rest on my neck. "I like it."

It was like what Jason said to me earlier but sexier. Jason couldent compare to Zane, not by a long shot. Jason would be a good boyfriend but Zane was someone entirely different. Someone mature and sexy.

I smiled, he leaned down brushing his lips against mine. I pushed forward wanting more of him. More of his lips and warmth. I expected him to cave in but to my surprise he pushed me back. Hand resting on my arm to keep me at arm's length.

"What are you doing?" I asked stunned. I really thought he was about to kiss me. I could feel my heart tighten like it was about to shatter in disappointment.

"This is wrong. I'm wrong for feeling like this." And before I could tell him how it was okay and I wouldn't tell he walked away from me; faster than his normal stride.

My heart broke, into a million pieces.
