A/N: This poem tells a short story. I know it feels unfinished....that's because it is.
Long ago, she gave up something she'd never again have.
She thought she was giving it salvation but only succeeded in destroying herself.
She wounded it more than she ever thought possible.
She succeeded in losing the one thing she held dear to her.
Along came the day when he was taken away from her, by a friend nonetheless.
But what could she do except sit and watch.
As she watched, something bloomed inside her.
A flame of hurt so hot, it tinged her skin red and made her eyes water.
But no matter how many tears fell on her skin the fire was never extinguished.
She bashes herself for thinking so selfishly, when she's supposed to be selfless and happy.
But how could she? When the white hot fire of pain was still raging in her heart.
She dries her eyes and stands saying she'll move on.
But the pang of guilt she feels reminds her of her lies.
Lies she told herself and others, to feel better, more confident.
But in the end, she only managed to conceal her pain from the crowd of on lookers.
Defeated, she sinks back to her knees to mourn her loss for the Umpteenth time.
For what else could she do? But to suffer through it.
With every step she takes, her legs threaten to give out from beneath her.
With every breath she takes, her lungs threaten to implode.
Her heart working overtime to support her rapidly diminishing mind.
Her brain in overdrive to conserve her quickly vanishing smile.
Her heart bleeds for her lost love although he's not lost.
Even so, her body knows they could never win him over.
Her soul is in a blank state and so is her mind.
But her heart was overflowing with emotions.
Her faced showed no pain, only joy.
But her façade was slowly breaking, she knew she couldn't hold it for much longer.
