"so what do you want to do?" Barry my lawyer asked me.
"Kaia will stay with me she'll be allowed to go see shay on the weekends if shay doesn't agree with this then i guess we'll have to take it to court and let them decide, it'll be dumb I'll win the case and she'll end hating me even more." I said as I looked out the window.
"Ms. Diaz shouldn't take it to the court, she's a recovering drug addict she doesn't have a stable home or job worst scenario is they give you full custody and she'll only be allowed supervised visits and I know you don't want that you need to get her to agree with your deal." He said.
"I didn't tell her because I didn't want to hurt her but kaia said she doesn't want to see her." I said while looking at him.
"this is a difficult time kevonte but you need to put your personal issues to the side and do what's best for kaia." He said while sliding the contract towards me.
"thank you Barry I'll have my decision made later today." I said and he got up and hugged me.
"proud of you son." he said while patting my back and I nodded and he walked out of my office leaving me their with the contract, Barry is our family's personal lawyer he's the best in the business so if he think shay should take my deal she should, if she takes this to court i will have parental rights and she'll most likely have none especially if they question kaia about her moms drug addiction and I'm not going to tell kaia to lie for Shay that's not how I'm raising our daughter. I grabbed the paper and walked out of my office and bumped into a tiny person I looked down at a smiling kaia.
"Daddy look!" She yelled as she showed me a picture she drew.
"Look at that it's beautiful." I said as I picked her up.
"I saw Barry." She said as we sat down on the couch.
"yeah me and him was talking about mommy." I said.
"okay." she said, I sighed and reached under the table and grabbed a book.
"you know mommy loves you?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"Mommy is just going through something right now so she can't be here physically but mentally she's right here." I said while pointing at her heart.
"okay." She nodded.
"she's always loved you we both have you were our greatest gift." I said as I opened the book and showed her pictures of her and Shay.
"is that me?" She pointed at a picture when she was first born.
"yeah look at how happy mommy was you made her happy." I said as I played in her hair. "kaia me and mommy are going through a rough spot so you might have to talk some people and whatever they ask you I want you to tell them the truth you understand." As my voice cracked.
"I guess." She nodded.
"you know what the truth is right?" I asked.
"mhm it's like when you asked me when I ate the cookie and I told you I did." she said while smiling, and I nodded and wiped my eyes.
"Good girl, daddy loves you and everything daddy does is for you okay." I said as I gently grabbed her face and she nodded and I pecked her on the head and hugged her.

"wassup corie." I said as i dapped him up and out my things down so he can ring it up.
"haven't seen you and Shay over this way nomo what happened?" he asked as he put my things in a bag.
"man we split." I said.
"damn sorry y'all seemed happy." He said as he handed me the bag.
"not everything is as it seems bro." I said as I grabbed the bag.
"Ight stay safe." he said and I started to walk off but stopped when I saw a girl stuffing hot Cheetos in her pants I mugged, she caught me staring and tried to run out the door but I grabbed her arm pulling her back.
"Let go of me!" she yelled.
"you want something you work for it or you ask." I snapped.
"whats going on?" Corie asked as he came from behind the counter and he immediately groaned.
"really this the second time I done called the police on this girl." Corie said while sighing.
"keep calling them all they gone do is let me out in a few hours." she mumbled.
"hand it over you rat." He snapped.
"ain wanna eat these stale ass chips no way." she said as she pulled them out of her pants and threw them at Corie.
"get out." he said while pointing at the door and I let go off her and she rolled her eyes and walked out.
"Who was that?" I asked.
"Some lil hoodlum who be stealing around town started a month ago in and out of jail everyday it seem like it." he said as he put the chips back.
"she must be new?" I asked.
"hell if I know all I know is if she keep fuckin wit folks shit she gon end up dead." He said.
"yeah I'll see you around Corie." I said and he nodded and walked out of the store I saw ole girl looking in cars and I walked up to her and she stopped what she was doing.
"May I help you?" She mugged.
"you gon get yo self killed." I said.
" okay and that's my business mind yours." She said while walking away and I caught up to her and grabbed her arm.
"Wait." I said and she snatched from me.
"Sir keep your hands to yourself I don't know you." She said.
"let me get you dinner." I said.
"why?" She asked.
"feeling generous tonight," I shrugged
"I'm not a prostitute, so if you think you finna feed me and then you get some cat afterwards that's not gon happen." she said
"I'm just being nice." I said with my hands up and she rolled her eyes.

I watched the girl eat like she hasn't eaten in days she ordered a double bacon cheeseburger with onion ring and fries with a strawberry milk shake and red velvet cake, I didn't order anything I wasn't hungry. She burped and I looked at her.
"What." She mugged.
"Excuse you." I said.
"my bad your majesty." she said and slurped the rest of her milk shake up.
"what's your name?" I asked.
"why you the feds?" She asked.
"What? Girl no. I'd like to know who I'm feeding." I shrugged.
"Zoie." She said.
"Beautiful name."
"it's okay, what about you." She said as she pushed the plate in front of her.
"king." I said.
"Cool, well thanks for the meal I'll be on my way." She said.
"where you stay I'll take you." I said.
"do you see what I have on, I don't have a house I stay wherever I can lay my head at night." she said while rolling her eyes and walking off, Damn this girl gotta a bad attitude. I caught back up with her and grabbed her arm.
"What I tell you about grabbing me next time my foot will be up ya ass." She said while snatching back.
"my bad, I'll give you a place to crash ight."
"I'm straight ion need another person sayin I owe them." She said.
"You don't have to pay me back I'm offering." I said and she looked at me and did a small smile.

We made it back to the penthouse I gave zoie some stuff zyion left over here and she was in the shower, I walked to Kaia room and she was asleep I walked over to her and kissed her head and walked to my room and dialed Barry's number and he answered on the second ring.
"kevonte?" He asked.
"Barry I made a decision,I'm going with my deal send the papers to Shay." I said.
"Okay." He said and I hung up I walked out of my room and to the living room and saw zoie knocked out I laughed and grabbed a blanket and started to put it over her but I stopped when I saw scars all on her legs leading up to her thighs I started to touch them but she began turning the other way I put the blanket over her and walked back to my room and fell into a deep sleep.
