Alex's POV
I didn't sleep to well that night. Everyone else was fast asleep, but me. I just lay there for a while, then decided to get my iPhone. I crept back into my room to get it, and when I found it there was a message on it.
It was from Josh. It read:
Hey Alex!! Miss u @ skool where hav ya been? Need to talk to u soon! Emergency!
Oh no! What could've happened?! This is not good. What if he got caught up in my problems! He has no idea about my world, if someone were to kidnap him? I replied back, despite it being like 1 in the morning.
I can't come to skool 2morow wat is it? Somethin wrong?
Of course I didn't get a reply back. I dust expect one either, not everyone was an insomniac. I went back to the living room to find Alec awake.
"Hey, what are you doing up?" I whispered, sitting down on my make-shift bed.
"I could ask you the same thing." he whisper replied back.
"Can't sleep. I'm an insomniac." I tell him truthfully.
"Why? What's wrong?" he asks, pulling me into this lap.
I snugged into his chest, not embarrassed anymore. It was easy to be with him now, like breathing. I felt good to breath, and if I was away too long, I'd die, not literally.
"Nothing, I've been insomniac for as long as I can remember. Stephanie and John use to stay awake with me, telling stories and trying remedies, anything but nothing ever worked." I told him.
"Hmmm. Well, when you can't sleep it means that there's sometime on your mind. What on your mind?" he diagnosed.
"Everything! What's not on my mind, would be easier to answer." I told him.
He sighed. He really was trying, but he couldn't help. I knew that. Oh well.
"It's ok. I never have bags under my eyes, or get tired during the day. You go to sleep, and I'll write on my book." I told him, compromising.
"No, I don't want to go to sleep if your not." he replied.
"It's not a matter of what you want. It's what you need. You need sleep, I don't, which means you have to go to sleep. Now sleep." I reasoned and ordered.
"Here, you about you sleep with me. I seemed to work yesterday. You fell asleep easily with me there." he said, laying down, with me next to him.
"We can try. I don't think it'll work." I said, while he put his arm around my waist.
"Ok, 'GNight" he said, falling to sleep immediately.
"'Night." I whispered, drifting off slowly.
(Next morning!)
I heard laughter. Why? I don't know. I slowly open my eyes, and I see Bells, Brendan, Olive and Oscar all hovering over us.
"Hi! What are you guys doing?" I asked, cheerfully.
"Just watching you sleep." Bells replied, nonchalantly.
"Oh, why?" I ask, not really getting it.
"No, reason. Your always up before us, no matter what. Remember when we were 10 and first started the birthday sleepover tradition. You were staring at us as we slept. We woke up and you were in our faces." Olive said, smiling.
"Yah, we spent a good hour rolling on the floor laughing." I remembered.
"Can you make breakfast. None of us her can cook." Bells said.
"Yah, I figured." I said.
As I tried to get up, I noticed Alec still asleep with his arms around my waist. Does that boy never let go!!
"I'm stuck! Alec let go!" I yelled, as I tried to get out of his grip.
They started laughing, like crazy. Ugh! Not funny!
"Guys! This is not funny! He won't let go!" I told them.
They were still laughing. Ugh, it's getting annoying. He pulled me closer, unconsciously, and tightened his grip.
"He always was protective of the one he loves." Oscar said, in between fits of laughter.
"Help me!" I yelled, trying to get out of his grip.
"Ya gotta wake him up." Brendan said, regaining his voice from laughing.
It wasn't that funny! Come on!
"Alec, Alec, wake up." I said, softly.
He wouldn't wake up. I'm a light sleeper and he's a deep sleeper! We're total opposites, so how'd we end up as mates?!
I kiss his cheek, and that wakes him up. I think that's all he wanted.
"Hey, what's up, guys?" he said, sleepily, his voice still husky.
They start laughing again. He stares at them, confused.
"Can you let go of me?" I ask.
"Sorry." he lets go.
"We've been trying to get your arm off of her! You wouldn't let go!" Bells said.
This doesn't seem to affect him at all.
"Can you blame me? She's my mate, obviously, I'd be inclined to hold tightly to her." he replied as if it was obvious.
I got up, and he followed suit. Everyone stopped laughing and agreed with his logic. I guess he's right but really you have to let go eventually.
"Ok, all you of go get changed! Then I'll make breakfast. I ordered and asked.
"Yes, ma'am!" they saluted.
"Shut up, and go!" I yelled, rolling my eyes.
They are such kids, I thought, as they laughed and went to go get changed. I went to my room with Bells and Olive and the guys went to Alec's room. We all changed and went to the kitchen. It was only 6:00am. Pam came back, from her sleepover and was fully dressed for school. The guys came into the kitchen as I started cooking.
"Ok! Orders! Write your name, what you want, and how much of it. Go!" I said, handing them each a piece of paper.
They all wrote what they wanted and I started making them. I made just about everything! After everyone finished it was time to go.
Bells and Olive were gonna go ahead to school, while we had to wait for out group. Claire brought Suzy, Jake and Pen came right after, and Jay came after them. We still had some time to kill before it was time to go to school. So I took Suzy and Alec into my room.
"Alex, what's wrong?" Alec asked, worried.
"Nothing, I just think we should tell Suzy about him." I told him, referring to my little brother.
He nodded, understanding. I took a deep breath trying to calm myself.
"Suzy, did you know, we have a brother." I told her, directly.
"Yes." she said, unfazed.
"Huh?" I asked, wondering why she didn't react.
"Yes, Suzy knows." she explained, using third person.
"You know?" I asked, hurt.
"Zane told Suzy." she said.
Zane. Everything revolved around Zane. WHY?! What does he have to do with everything, or anything?!
"Alex, calm down." he said, putting his hands on my shoulders.
Apparently, I was shaking, with anger. Suzy was looking at me, scared. I had to calm myself down. Good thing I had been controlling my emotions since I was little. I easily, well not easily, but quickly, calmed myself down.
"We're gonna talk to him, when we skip." I told Alec.
He sighed, and nodded. I guess he didn't want to fight me on this. Good, if he hadn't I would've done it anyways. I need answers, and I need them now!
"Let's go, we need to get to school. I'll tell you how we skip." He said, walking out of my room.
I picked up Suzy and walked out of my room. They were sitting in the living room, and when we came in, it was quiet.
"Let's go." I said, nodding to the door, with Suzy still in my arms.
They stayed quiet. What is wrong with them?!
"What?" I asked, confused.
"You seem mad Alex. Is something wrong?" Claire speaks up.
I guess my facade didn't work. I sighed, I need to learn to hide my emotions better. It's not working.
"I'm fine. Let's go, we're gonna be late." I said, softly.
They weren't quiet this time. We walked to the parking lot and Bells and Olive's cars were missing.
"Oh! Did I tell you guys, I gotta new car!" I told them.
"Can we see?" Jake asked.
"Yah, right here!" I told them, pointing to my car.
"Woah! It's yours! Really?" Jake asked, excited.
"Yah! Bells and Olive gave it to me." I told them.
"Cool! I wanna ride in it!" Jake said, practically jumping up and down.
"Yah, let's go! Who else wants to?" I asked.
Suzy, Jake, Jay, and Alec, all got in. I sat in the drivers seat, after putting Suzy in the back. Brendan, Oscar, Claire, Pam, and Pen went into Brendan's car. Brendan and Oscar would get to ride in it when we skip, and Claire, Pen, and Pam get after school. No one knows about us skipping yet.
We drove to Suzy's school, faster than usual. Probably because I was in the front. I got Suzy out, while Alec waited.
We walked into the school. The teacher made conversation again.
"Hi! Nice to see you again! We're throwing a big Christmas party on christmas day, all parents and children are invited, please come!" she said, excitedly.
"Um, we already have plans, but thank you." I said, putting Suzy down.
She kissed my cheek and went to go play with her friends. She talked animately with them. It was nice watch her but we had to leave.
::Why are we busy?:: Alec thought to me as we left.
::I want to spend my Christmas with you:: I thought back.
::Ok, is there anything you want?::
::Yep, you::
There really wasn't anything I wanted. I just want to spend it with my blood family, and my lover. That's all I want really.
"Alex! Really, what do you want?!" Alec whined, out loud, when we got in the car.
I laughed, as Jake and Jay gave us weird looks. It was hilarious! You should've seen their faces and Alec sounded and looked like a little kid!
"I seriously don't want anything for Christmas!" I replied, and Jake and Jay's expressions changed into understanding.
"You have to want something!" He said, in denial.
"Well, what do you want?" I asked, trying to change the subject.
"Brendan, Oscar and me have been eyeing this skateboard, at the mall. It's was pretty awesome, black, white and purple." he said, actually falling for it.
"You skateboard?" I asked, surprised.
"Yah, me, Brendan and Oscar use to skateboard a lot when we were little we started when we were 10, I think, and stopped when we 16 because we had to focus on the pack and taking care of everyone." He explained.
"Cool." I said, as we got to Jays school.
"Yah, we love to skateboard! We still do, we just don't have time for it anymore. That's the only problem." he said, as we got to Jay's class.
I knew, as soon as he had said they love to skateboard that I'd get Brenda, Oscar and Alec, those skateboards. No matter what. They really loved to skateboard, so I'll get it for them.
"Ok, Jay, I'll see you, after school. Be good." I said, like a mother.
"Yes, mom." he said, sarcastically.
"Well, I kind of am. Isn't the female alpha like a mom to the pack." I said, ruffling his hair.
"Hey! I spent all morning on that!" he whined.
"Ya right!" I said, ruffling it more.
We left after that. Thank goodness that little kid didn't come back. What was his name? I forget.
"How'd you know that the Female Alpha is like a mom to the pack?" he asked.
"I remember Bells and Olive saying that with wolves that how the alpha and female alpha work. They were always talking about wolves, probably trying to get me ready for today." I told him.
"Well, they're right. The female alpha is the mom, and the heart and brains or the pack. The alpha is muscle basically but we balance each other out." Alec explained.
"So you have to be mated to take the Alphas position?" I question.
"And 18 years old." he added.
"So even if Andrew has a mate, he can't take over the Alphas position till he's 18?" I ask, wondering about Andrew.
"Yep, correct." he agrees.
"So he's not alpha yet?" I ask.
"No, by law he can't be." he answered.
(AN: someone said they didn't get it so I'm explaining now! If you still don't get it comment and I'll reply!)
We got back into the car and drove to Pam and Pen's school. It was just me, Alec and Jake in the car now. We got to Pam and Pen's school and they got out. We watched them go inside, figuring they were old enough to go by themselves.
We got to our school and got out. Bells and Olive were waiting for us. So it was me, Alec, Bells, Brendan, Olive, Oscar, Jake, and Claire.
"Ok, guys! We'll meet back here after school, got it?" I said.
They all nodded.
"Ok, see you later!" I said, to Jake and Claire.
Bells and Olive had homeroom with me, Alec, Brendan and Oscar. So we walked to our lockers and talked.
"Ok, sorry for asking, but how do we skip?" I asked, wondering what their plan was.
"That, my lovely mate, is the right question!" Alec said, slinging his arm around me.
"We all find an excuse to get out of class, bathroom, water, textbook, something, at around the end of 3rd period, right before lunch. Then, we'll all go to the front office, and ask to get something out of our cars, we'll meet up at our cars, and get out of school." Alec devised a plan.
"Great, except one thing, they started making you check in and out when you go outside of the school." I said, smartly.
"Ooooooo!" the said.
"Alec just got dissed!" Brendan said, childishly.
"Ok. New plan. At lunch time we'll go out to eat, then not come back." Alex said, devising a new plan.
"Yah, but they still make you sign in and sign out." I said, thumping his head.
"We won't sign in. Today's a good day, so we'll eat outside, then we'll go to the parking right next to the lunch and recess area and skip." he changed his plan, again.
"Yah, but they have teachers posted right next to the parking lot." I said, countering.
"Ok, then what do you propose?!" he asked, giving up.
"We get out at second period, find an excuse, use the lunch and recess grounds, since no ones having lunch, no one will be there and no one watching it, we get to the parking lot and to the cars. Done." I said, thumping his head again.
"You know, for someone who's never skipped, you sure do know a lot about how to skip." Brendan pointed out as we got to class.
"My emo buddies skip a lot, this is how they do it. They never get caught." I smiled satisfied.
"So you let them skip, but not us." Bells said, annoyed.
"I can't stop them, they won't listen. You will." I said, smiling.
They didn't get to reply because Mrs. Spivey started talking.
She talked about the dance again and how it was the last day of this year, in school. When come back in we're gonna make resolutions and all that jazz. After she was done, we had time to talk. Since everyone knew about Olive, Bells and Me being cousins I could talk to them freely.
"Ok, since you guys don't have first period with us, meet us at our lockers and then we'll go together, Ok?" Alec said.
We all got ready. I'd ask to get my textbook first, then 10 minutes later Alec would ask to get water, then 5 minutes after that Brendan would ask for water, and bathroom, and 5 minutes after Brendan, Oscar would ask to go to the bathroom. Mr. Jenson, was a lenient teacher and he would let kids go if they needed to, which was good.
We got into class, which Josh was in. He rushed over, and enveloped me in a hug. He missed me! That's nice a feeling!
"Hey! Whats up Josh?" I asked.
"Alpha Green, nice to see you. I'm surprised you are with Alex, why?" Josh said, formally speaking to Alec.
Huh? Alpha Green? He knew Alec was a werewolf and an alpha? What's going on.
"Nice to see you too, Josh. She's my mate. And a werewolf herself. Plus the Lifest." Alec said, formally.
"Alec! I can't believe you just told him! Are you nuts?!" I said, weirded out.
"It's ok, Alex. I'm a werewolf too. Your protector, and cousin." He said, squeezing my shoulders.
"WHAT?!" I asked, causing people to look at us.
"We're skipping today, care to join us? We'll continue this conversation later." Alec said, calming me down.
"Sure. I'll explain then. When are we escaping?" he asked for details.
"This period, you'll ask after Oscar leaves. Got it?" Alec answered.
He nodded and we went to our seats, just as Mr. Jenson, came in for class. I couldn't concentrate the whole class period because of what he said, Alec interrupted me.
::Alex, ask to go get your textbook, now!:: Alec thought to me, breaking me away from my thoughts.
I raised my hand and asked to get my textbook from my car. He let me go, and I went to my locker instead. Bells was already there, waiting on Olive. Olive came at the same time Alec came, then Brendan, then Oscar and then Josh. Good, step one's ok.
"Bells, Olive, care to explain why I didn't know Josh was my cousin?!" I yelled at them.
They looked down sheepishly. Ugh! I'm never gonna get my answers this way!
"You knew about Josh's situation, I told you, yet you never said anything to me! Why, won't anyone tell me the truth?! Suzy knows, for crying out loud!! And she's 4!!" I yell getting angry.
My hands start to fire up, and everyone moves away, in fear, except Alec. His hands, are covered in ice and they puts them over mine, extinguishing the fire.
"Alex, relax. We'll figure this out. But not right now. This isn't the right place, we could get caught." Alec reasoned.
I turned and started walking to the lunch and recess area, not looking back to see if anyone was following. I quickly got out there, and got into the parking lot. Step 2 is good.
"How is this gonna work? Me, Alec, Brendan, Oscar, and Josh in one car, mine. Bells and Olive, you can take either car. Let's go. We'll go back home. Is anyone there?" I say, getting the plan.
"No one but Zane. And we need to talk to him, so that's ok, right?" Alec told me.
"Perfect. I'm gonna get my answers." I said, getting in the car.
Everyone followed suit. We sat in the car and raced to pack house. I heard, Alec, Brendan, Oscar and Josh all shouting at me to slow down, but I ignored them. I quickly got to the pack house, and raced inside.
"Zane!" I yelled.
He came downstairs and looked surprised to see me.
"Alex? Aren't you suppose to be in school?" he asked, surprised.
"I need answers and I need them now!" I yelled, as everyone got inside.
He sighed, and went into the living room, I followed with everyone else following me. I was finally gonna get my answers.
I was gonna figure out, everything. All my questions were gonna be answered. We all sat down, and Zane started talking.
"Where do want me to start?" he asked.
"From the beginning." I answered.
