"Bam bam bam bam," Vic and I said in chime with each high five we gave each other. We're sitting on his bed currently, giving each other high five after high five. "Bam bam bam."

We missed, hitting each other on the arm. "Ow," I complained, rubbing my arm.

"Oh that didn't hurt," he replied, ignoring me.

"Yeah it did," I said, looking down to my arm.

"Whatever Kelly," he said getting up. "I'm going to the bathroom."

"Have fun," I called. "But not too much," I added in a fake serious tone.

"Okay. I'll be thinking of you," he called back. I laughed to myself about him. Sometimes I swear he could like me. Like that time he came over for the first “proper” time. He was really close, I guess with the help of how I was acting too. And the next time, saying he did like me, though that could have just been the alcohol talking. But other times I doubt it. He's straight after all. Well, that I know of.

He's changed heaps since I first met him. He act happier it seems. Like the day when he had a break down at school, that hasn't happened again. He's more open too. He jokes around with me. He doesn't do the same jokes with his other friends.

He and I have both gained confidence. I remember just the first time we were “together” (I guess you could say) I was embarrassed about waking up in just underwear. But, the situation was an embarrassment in itself. Not long after, I was already comfortable sleeping next to him wearing hardly a thing. At first when he wore my pyjamas, he seemed embarrassed, not matter how hard he tried to hide it. But not long after, he was totally fine. Which is good for me, I get to look at that beautiful body. I’d dip my biscuit in his coffee, if you know what I mean.

Even though in our social groups we are both seen as the “quiet one”, yet when we are together, you’d think we would be the loudest, most outgoing one. Well, maybe not quite.

"Did you have a 'glorious orgasm'?" I asked, quoting the movie Due Date that we'd watched just a few days before.

"Stop being sick," Vic said rolling his eyes, sitting back down. I guess he's still uncomfortable about something’s.

"You love me," I smiled.

"Sure I do Kelly," he replied. I took his hand and played with it because, well I want to and I can get away with it. I'll do what I want. He lied back down, me still having his hand. I joined him, laying on my back next to him. We bother turned inwards, facing each other.

"Vic!" came a call from downstairs.

"Yes mama," Vic yelled back, sitting up.

"Vic!" she called for him again, not hearing his reply obviously.

"Be right back," Vic said to me, getting up and leaving the room. I got up once he was gone and decided to have a look around the place.

What caught my attention was the blue folder sitting under his bed. I picked it up and opened it.

"Song lyrics," I murmured to myself, flicking through the pages. There are heaps in here.

Sunshine! There ain't a think that you can do that's gonna ruin my night.

"Hey, mum just wanted some help with-" I looked up to see Vic in shock. "What are you doing?" he asked frantically.

"I'm just, ah," I fumbled for words, quickly shutting the folder, keeping my thumb on the page.

"W-w-wh," he was in such a state of shock, he couldn't seem to get a word out. His eyes were wider than I've ever seen them.

"I was just having a small look..." I said looking back down. I went to open the book again, but failed to notice Vic coming over, slamming it shut. He yanked it from my hands, clutching it to his chest tightly.

"This is personal!" he angrily said.

"I-I'm sorry," I apologised. "But I thought it was really good. Who's it about?" I know I probably shouldn't have asked, but I can't help but be curious.

"Which one?" he asked shyly, his anger hidden away.

"Caraphernelia."

"Just- no one," he turned away, putting the folder in a draw in his desk.

"Oh come on just say," I pleaded him.

"It doesn't matter," he replied, turning around and leaning against his desk chair.

"Why won't you tell me?" I asked.

"Because it doesn't matter," Vic argued. I know he doesn't want me to know, but I must!

"Vic, please," I tried for the last time.

"Fine," he gave in. "It's not like it even matters or anything."

I gave him a smile and a nod, urging for him to begin.

"It's just about my ex-girlfriend Cara," he started. "The last time I saw her, she left all kinds of random things behind at my house; travel shampoo, a razor in the shower, hair clips, et cetera. It was basically just a bunch of stuff that kept reminding me of her. After a while, it made me miss her, and I wondered why we ever broke up in the first place. The song's now become quite personal to me now, thinking of when we were together, even though I am over her now, I haven't been with another girl since..."

I couldn't help but wonder how along ago all this was, and things like how long they were together. Keeping things like shampoo and a razor sounds like she must have stayed over a fair bit.

I needed to know. "When did this happen?"

"A year ago!?" I asked, not meaning to sound so shocked. He doesn’t seem like the type, well he does seem like the type… That long ago though? He seems like the type of person to have a girlfriend, and stay with her for a long time, a committed relationship, including staying over. But a year ago!? He would have been in year 10, and had a girl staying over. By the sounds of it this was regular. And they must have been together for longer before that… "When did you get together?"

"Um," he said thinking. "Year 9… I dunno some time then…" I wouldn’t be surprised if he knew exactly when they did, but didn’t want to tell me. And I can’t believe his parents were fine with all this. He could see the confusion on my face. "What? What’s wrong?" he asked with a slight frown, directing it towards the conversation.

"Nothing," I replied, my voice coming out slightly high pitched. Well, higher pitched. "I just didn’t expect…"

"Didn’t expect what?" he interrupted me.

"I don’t know… I just didn’t think, you know, that you’d have someone staying over at that age… so… frequently" I replied, unsure of what to say, afraid I may set him off or something. "Where your parents cool with it?"

"They didn’t know," he snapped. "So don’t go saying to anyone, okay? It’s not like she was here all the time."

"Why did you guys break up?" I asked.

"That’s none of your business," he harshly replied, looking down at the ground, his sky exterior returning. I thought now I should stop talking about this and try to lighten the mood a bit.

"So anyways," I said in a cheery voice. I was going to suggest working on our song for school, but thought maybe not something to do with his song writing. Our song’s lyrics are almost finished now, but we are still working on the tune to go along with them. I had no clue what to suggest we do, and my words came stumbling out. "Why don’t we see what Mike’s up to?"

"Ah, sure," said Vic, sounding confused with my suggestion. I don’t ever talk to Mike, I don’t think he likes me very much. That’s probably because of the fight between him and Alex that’s still going on. I do stay towards Alex’s side when there’s an argument. They need to get over it!

We went a few door down to his room. Vic knocked on the door and slowly opened it looking inside. “Oh,” he said, opening it wider to reveal no Mike. "I thought he was up here."

Vic turned around while shutting the door and we went downstairs into the lounge. He wasn’t there.

"Hey mama," Vic called to the room next door. "Where’s Mike?"

"He’s at Zack’s," she replied.

"Oh, um, okay then," Vic mumbled, walking us off into the lounge room. We sat down, but Vic had a strange expression on his face.

"What’s wrong?" I asked him.

"It’s nothing,” he said. “He’s just been over there a lot lately."

"Isn’t that a good thing, having friends he sees regularly?"

"Yeah, but it’s really just the one," he replied.

"So, you hang out with me all the time," I was confused with why he didn’t like Mike hanging out with this guy.

"Well, this is different," Vic said. It didn’t seem to make sense, he probably goes to this guy’s place as much as Vic and I visit each other. What’s the big deal? Again, it didn’t seem like Vic wanted to continue with the conversation. Maybe it’s his time of the month…

~Tay's POV~

"It's just hard to watch all this fighting," I said. "I'm not used to being in the middle of these things."

"I'm sure you are," he said. "We've been together a while now, but it'll get better. I promise we will work all of this out."

"Are you sure?" I asked. "It needs to end soon. I can't keep skipping just so it's not so bad. Why don't you just talk to him? If you did it alone, I'm sure he wouldn't go off as much."

"You know exactly what he's like," he argued. "He will still be just as angry. He'll never admit to it. You know that."

"Yeah I know but-" I was cut off by the sound of my phone ringing. I looked down to it to see Alex's face pop up on the screen. Mike leant over and pressed ignore on it, tuning it off.

"Forget about him," he whispered, leaning in so those familiar lips touched mine.
