[ 010. JUST FRIENDS ]
WINTER WAS COMING in avonlea since anne could see her breath in the air as she walked to gilbert's house. she needed to talk to him while not being drunk.
anne saw gilbert up in his room reading. she couldn't tell what book it was but he seemed really concentrated and didn't notice her outside on his porch.
she knocked twice then stepped back a little from the door. anne heard gilbert yell 'im coming' faintly as he rushed down the stairs.
the door swung open and gilbert was taken aback. "uh h-hi" he stuttered. "hey" anne smiled blankly. "wanna come in?" he asked. anne nodded and let herself in. she walked upstairs to his room and was surprised at how familiar the house seemed.
once she reached the top of the staircase, she assumed that gilbert's room was the one with all the green vines inside.
anne was pleased once she was inside his room. the decor was honestly pretty good and before she could stop what she was doing, she started to run her fingers over the books, mixtapes, vinyl records, sheets, curtains and anything else that she could touch.
"U-UHM I BROUGHT HOT CHOCOLATE" he knocked on the door and walked inside. once he realised what she was doing, a smirk was plastered onto his face. "like snooping around my room now?"
"i wasnt snooping" anne said sternly but had a hint of playfulness in her voice. she walked over to him and whispered "thank you" and grabbed one of the mugs from his hands.
"so uhm, i was thinking we should talk about what happened between us?"
"and what did happen"
"well we kissed and haven't really talked about what should happen"
"what do you suggest"
"i think that we should stay....friends?"
"was that a question or a statement?" gilbert teased. "i swear to god gilbert, take this seriously" anne begged. "okay okay" he flew his hands up in the air
"i just think it'd be better for us to remain friends.."
"is that what you really want?"
"i guess"
GILBERT THOUGHT FOR A MOMENT. if i tell that i like her, it might make things awkward and she won't end up talking to me again...but what if she gets back together with joshua or finds someone else? screw it. "okay then" he tried to smile at her and she was pleased. "thank you" she breathed out. "but, with me agreeing to you, you've just agreed to take some pictures with me"
"w-what" she laughed. "you heard me. my feed needs to be spruced up and now that you're here, you're gonna be in it" he smiled.
