The next morning Diamond was getting ready for work.
Brian walks to her as she flat iron's her hair. "Hey I'm sorry about last night"
"It took you until the next morning to say that?", she asked.
"I was just angry, you know", he said.
"Well you need to control it because I didn't do nothing to you", Diamond said.
Brian walks behind her and puts his hands on her waist.
Diamond puts the flat iron down and unplugs it. "Move Brian", she said.
Brian moves his hands.
Diamond walks out the bathroom. "Make sure you get Ayanna to daycare on time , I'm leaving", she said.
"Come on Diamond don't act like that", he said.
"Just like you said last night, don't tell me how to act", Diamond said. "Have a good day off"
"I love you" he said.
"I love you too", Diamond said before she left.
Brian sighed and shook his head. He walked into Ayanna's room. "Hey Princess. Ready for daycare", he asked.
"No", Ayanna said.
"How come?", he asked.
Ayanna folds her arms.
Brian gets on one knee. "What's wrong?" he asked.
"I wanna stay home with you", Ayanna said.
Brian was quiet. "Fine but between me and you alright. Don't tell mommy", he said.
"Okay", Ayanna said.

Diamond got to work and Carey, her co worker came up to talk to her.
"Girl you used to date that new doctor?", she asked.
"Um.. in college", Diamond said. "How did you know that?"
"Well I was talking to him about something and he told me.. well he didn't say it exactly but it was something that hinted me to it", Carey said.
"Oh", she said.
"So what's the deal with him? Like why'd y'all break up", Carey asked.
"We weren't really... well it had something to do with the both of us", Diamond said.
"Oh", Carey said.
"But speaking of Dr. Mills, I have to get this prescriptions he ordered to his patients in", Diamond said.
Carey chuckles.
"What?", Diamond asked.
"When he first got here.. you guys were like I don't know ..the way y'all were just looking at each other", she said.
"Um Carey if you're assuming what I think you are, it's been eight years since we dated and I'm married. Whatever we had is gone", Diamond said.
"Yea.. I thought the same when I like broke up with my ex who is now husband. Well.. I'm not really going to get in the detail but long story short is I realized that I broke up with him because I was scared"
"Of what?", Diamond asked.
"Of love.. I was young and usually the guys I dated weren't shit so when I started feeling love for him, it got stronger and stronger and I backed out because I didn't wanna get my heart broken", Carey said. "Not saying it the same with you maybe it's something different or maybe I'm wrong"
Diamond didn't say anything.
"But anyways, get back to work", she said. "I'll do the same"
Carey walked away.
Diamond got her stuff together and did her rounds.

Diamond got home that evening and Ayanna was already in bed.
"Hey sweetheart", he said.
"Hey", Diamond said as she put her things down.
"How was work?", he asked
"Good"
"That's good....you said Kendrick work there?", he asked.
"Oh um yea", Diamond said.
"Y'all been talking?", Brian asked.
"Not much no... unless it's like work related", Diamond said.
Brian nods.
"I don't think you have to worry about him though I think he's seeing somebody", Diamond said.
"I don't have to worry about you and that's all that matters", he said.
Diamond sits on the couch.
"I take it you aren't upset with me anymore", he said.
"Oh I am but like somebody once said, I can't let anger control me", she said.
Brian smiles. "That somebody was me", he said.
"Yea", she said as she smiled.
Brian stares at Diamond.
"What?", she asked.
"I just love you that's all", he said. "You're just so beautiful"
Diamond smiles and looks down.
"Ayanna's sleep", Brian said.
"Yea you told me", she replied.
"Diamond.. Ayanna is sleep", he said.
Diamond looked at him.
Brian stands up. "Bring yo sexy self upstairs", he said biting his bottom lip.
Diamond chuckles and stands up as they went upstairs.

The next morning, Diamond got up from the sound of Ayanna's voice.
"Wake up!", Ayanna said.
Diamond looked at her then Brian who was trying to get up. "What time is it?", Diamond asked.
"7 on the dot", Brian said.
Diamond looks at Ayanna.
"I'm hungry", Ayanna said.
"Fix the breakfast, Brian", Diamond said.
"Baby can you do it this time, I'm so tired", he said.
Diamond sighs. "As always", Diamond mumbles as she got out the bed.
Brian didn't hear her.
"Come on Ayanna", Diamond as they went downstairs.
Diamond cooked the food and fixed a plate for her and Ayanna.
Brian comes into the kitchen.
"Thought you were tired", Diamond said.
"Smelled the food and couldn't resist", he said.
"Mhm", Diamond said.
"What?", Brian asked. "What now?"
"Nothing", Diamond said not looking at him. She just continued to eat.
"Mmm", Brian said as he grabbed a plate.
"I'm going to the mall with Kelly today, I should be back before you go to work", she said.
"Don't spend too much money", he said.
"I know how to spend my money", she said.
"Where is this attitude coming from?? I was just saying", Brian said.
Diamond didn't say anything. She finished her food and put in the sink. "Oh, do I need to wash the dishes too?", she asked.
Brian makes a face.
Diamond walks out the kitchen.
Brian shakes his head.

Diamond and Kelly met at the mall. Diamond only joined because Kelly didn't wanna go by herself.
"These are cute", diamond said.
"So why don't you get them?", Kelly asked.
"Listen all I wear is scrubs and pajamas, I don't get to go to much places being a working mom and maid", she said.
"What?", Kelly asked.
Diamond sighs. "I get it. It's traditional for the woman to cook, clean and make sure the kids are good but it's like I never get a break", she asked. "At first it was okay. I had no problem but now it's like ya know.. it's been four years. I'm kinda getting tired of it, doing it all on my own"
Kelly nods. "Well at least you work three days out of the week, he works five consistent days"
"I might work three or sometimes more days a week but it's a stressful job", Diamond said
"Yea I know I'm just saying", Kelly said.
Diamond nods. "But it's cool, no biggie", she said.
Kelly nods as she looks through the clothes.
Diamond looks at sees a hickey on her neck. "Well who's the lucky guy", she said with a smirk.
"What?", Kelly asked as she looked at Diamond.
"That hickey on your neck", Diamond said.
"Oh", Kelly said as she smiled and covered it with her hair. "Yea we aren't too serious"
"Come on Kelly, when are you going to settle down?", she asked.
"When a ball playa ready to put a ring on it", she said.
Diamond chuckles. "You so crazy", she said.
Kelly smiles. "But no seriously I have an expensive taste", Kelly said.
"Yea I know", diamond replied.
Kelly continued to shop and diamond did eventually pick up some things

The next day Diamond went to work because she got called in because somebody else called out. The had just don't got with a procedure for somebody that came into the emergency room.
Kendrick and Diamond walked together after the procedure.
"You think he's gonna make it?", Diamond asked.
"You been here longer to than me to tell. I mean from what I see.. I don't know. It's a low chance he would", Kendrick said.
Diamond shakes her head. "I feel so sorry for his parents", she said.
"Yea.. one thing about having kids. If something happens to them it's like the world ends", he said.
"Yea. I don't know what I'd do if I lost Ayanna", Diamond said.
Kendrick paused for a moment. "Ayanna?", he asked.
"Oh um my daughter", she said.
Kendrick nods. "Congratulations", he said. "Married and kids, that's great"
"You don't sound happy" diamond said.
"I'm not really", he said. "I mean too be honestly, I always saw a future in us.. that kinda future"
Diamond looked down.
"I mean it's cool though. Imma be G and imma do me and you gone be happy and live yo life", he said jokingly.
Diamond chuckles. "See Kendrick you're always joking around that's what I love about you the most", she said.
Kendrick eyes got a little wide.
Diamond realized what she said. "I mean loved. You know past tense. Because I'm married now and I love somebody else", she said embarrassedly.
"Mm thought you were better at hiding your secrets", he said.
"What?", Diamond said. "Seriously past tense"
"Okay Diamond", he said. "Oh I'm sorry Mrs. Wilson"
"Mrs. Wilson-Sanders, to you", she said.
"I like Mrs. Wilson better", he said standing over her and licking his lips.
Diamond body suddenly felt hot. She was still attracted to this guy. 8 years of trying to get him out of her head and nothing worked. She thought that starting something new would help but it didn't especially not now because she sees him all the time. She loved Brian but it like Kendrick still had that spot in her heart.
"Get to work Dr. Mills", Diamond said.
"Yes ma'am", he said.
"I'm sure your girlfriend or whoever wouldn't like you flirting with another woman", she said.
"If that was your way of finding out if I'm single or not, I am. I tired that dating thing but ya know once you already had the best, everybody seems like a downgrade", he said.
Diamond tried not to smile. "Well my husband wouldn't care for it", she said. "You do remember I have a husband right?"
"That's right. Mr. police officer...like madea said I ain't scared the po po", he said.
Diamond chuckles.
Kendrick smiles. "Nah I'm joking but it's nice to know I still make you smile....have a good day", he said walking backwards.
"Same to you Ken", she said.
Kendrick turned around from walking backwards and walked away.
Diamond shook her head and went back to work.
