jaemin walked to the front of the house he was given the address to, finding it weird that the front door was strangely wide open.
he dismissed that and embarrassedly made his way in, making sure to close the door behind him as he looked around
extremely embarrassed to face the other boy he was paired up with after jaemin himself had openly flirted with him at a party about a good four months ago.
he hoped that the older didn't remember jaemin's drunk attempt at flirting as it would make the whole project awkward
"Renjun!?"
"Oh wait, he's a hyung.."
"Renjun-hyung!?"
jaemin didn't get an answer.
to which was strange since, someone definitely had to be in the house.
he shrugged, maybe renjun was taking a nap
but still that wouldn't make sense as he left the main door wide open
jaemin pursed his lips, debating on whether or not he should go upstairs and see if someone else really was in the house.
he wasn't one to intrude which is why he didn't really know what to do, but still what if a burglar had broken in renjun's house?
he had to go and check just in case.
so he climbed up the stairs, and once he reached the last step he looked over to where the door of a room also left wide open
he immediately assumed it was renjun's room as it had plushies all around and it was really neat.
" Renjun? i'm here for the project.."
then again, he didn't get an answer
"i'm just gonna go in your room then i guess.."
he walked inside the room and looked around
before noticing the bathroom door wide open as well:
and what left Jaemin frozen was what he saw inside the bathroom
His eyes widened at the sight
he immediately ran into the bathroom, looking at renjun's foaming mouth
jaemin grabbed his head
almost screeching at the warm substance that enveloped his hand
he immediately retreated his arm looking at the blood that adorned it,
his hand softly jittering. thinking about what he should do
Jaemin quickly had an idea pop into his head
he tried looking for renjun's pulse checking if he even had one.
he softly put his hand to renjun's wrist
nothing
jaemin panicked and moved his arm to renjun's neck
it was barely, barely there
shakily he pulled out his phone and dialled 911
his fingers pressing some wrong numbers but he quickly got it right
"911, what do you need?
Paramedics , Police, or Firefighters?"
"I-I need an ambulance quick, m-my friend h-he-"
jaemin stopped, he didn't know what renjun did
he looked at the surroundings and noticed two pill bottles completely empty
"Let me switch lines for you sir hold on..."
"...paramedics how may we assist you?"
"My friend h-he overdosed o-on what seems like p-pain killers and antidepressants."
"What's your location sir?
We'll send an ambulance right away."
Jaemin screeched the location to the lady hoping renjun wouldn't die
the lady on the other line told him to stay calm as the ambulance supposedly was really close and was going to reach them in a few minutes
and after what seemed like an infinity
the paramedics came in
yelling at jaemin to get off of renjun's hardly alive body
Jaemin swore he was watching the scene unfold in slow motion
he was scared
so scared
this was the first time he had ever experienced something as traumatic as this
he watched with wide eyes as they took renjun away
he didn't know why but he followed
he ran outside with the nurses trying to help renjun
he quickly climbed in the ambulance ignoring the medics yelling at him to leave
Jaemin didn't want Renjun to die
he had so much to live for
even though jaemin had a few encounters with the adorable older
jaemin had always acknowledged renjun

it was getting late and he had no update on renjun
he had literally no idea what to do
he pondered and wondered if renjun had any friends
but he couldn't think as the worry of renjun dying was all he could think about
Jaemin tried again, he tried remembering who he would see renjun with around school
he remembered seeing mark yelling at him
but he didn't know if they were friends or not
but he also swore he saw them kissing
jaemin dismissed mark and went deep into thought again

jaemin immediately opened his phone and asked jeno for his number
"Jeno i literally have no time for this, Donghyuck's friend could literally be dying as we speak!"
jaemin continued to yell for the next four seconds
"how hard was it to give me his number!
god i hate you.."
Jaemin quickly ended the call and pressed on the number jeno sent him

no shit why else would he press on the fucking digits?
the phone rang a few times before donghyuck answered
"Hello, who the hell am I talking to?"
Jaemin sucked in a breath shakily before explaining the whole situation
explaining what happened and how he found renjun laying on the floor with his skull probably busted open and with a foaming mouth
"What!? What hospital are you guys in?!"
"The local hospital genius!"
Jaemin frustratedly yelled at the phone
"T-Thank you for calling me i'll be there in ten fucking minutes!"
donghyuck hung up
he quickly ran down the stairs, grabbed a random jacket and proceeded to run outside to his mother's car
"Haechan where the hell are you going?!"
his mother yelled but donghyuck didn't have time to respond and proceeded to get in the vehicle to drive to the hospital,
he may be underaged and without a license but in this situation who fucking cares about the stupid law
he didn't want renjun to die over some asshole that never loved him
carefully he tried driving as fast as he could
but a stupid red light appeared as he drove
and because donghyuck gives no fucks, he ran the light
the streets were pretty empty anyway,
literally who cares everyone has at least ran a red light before
haechan bit his nails as he drove into the hospital parking lot
he quickly parked the car and ran inside the hospitals doors
the receptionist eyeing him weirdly
"Can I help you sir?"
"Y-Yes! i-i'm looking for Huang Renjun! i-is he okay?"
the receptionist had a look of pity on her face
"Still no updates on the patient, but you can wait with the other boy over there, he's been here all afternoon waiting for updates on the same patient.."
donghyuck nodded
"t-thank you."
he ran to the pink haired boy who was sitting there with his face in his hands, his leg anxiously jumping
"You're jaemin yeah? You're Jeno's ex-
uh..best friend?"
Jaemin looked up to meet eyes with a familiar tanned skinned boy who looked like he was about to cry as he pulled him out his thoughts with his semi high pitched voice
"Yeah, I'm jaemin you must be donghyuck, i remembered you as renjun's friend..and jeno's-"
donghyuck suddenly broke into tears interrupting jaemin's sentence
"i-i don't know what i'll do if renjun died,
i-if he killed himself over some asshole who just used him!"
Jaemin confusedly looked at Donghyuck's crying form
"Some asshole who what now?
Mind explaining the fucking situation??"
donghyuck then continued to rant
about renjun getting ditched by mark so many times
how much of an asshole mark had been to poor renjun who just wanted to be loved
how even though renjun knew mark never loved him
he stayed with him because he one day hoped mark would feel the same way
and what happened earlier that day
every single detail was spilled to Jaemin
"t-thank you so much for finding him.."
donghyuck sobbed on jaemin as jaemin awkwardly patted donghyuck's back
donghyuck needed to inform mark about what his stupid decisions
led to
donghyuck wanted mark to feel the pain he caused renjun to feel
donghyuck pulled out his phone and unblocked mark's number
"i'll be outside for a while, call me back in if there's updates on renjun.."
jaemin nodded watching donghyuck walk away
"h-haechan?"
"w-why are you calling me?"
"don't call me haechan absolute fucking dumbass!"
"god you're fucking stupid!"
"d-donghyuck what's going on??"
"guess what! because of your stupid plan to get me back, you won't believe what you caused!"
"as a matter of fact you probably won't care!
because i'm your only care!"
"donghyuck what happened!?"
at this point mark was getting scared with the way
donghyuck was acting
"Renjun fucking overdosed himself on two whole bottles of antidepressants and painkillers, all because of you!"
mark's heart dropped to his feet as he heard what haechan said
the thought of renjun being dead was nonexistent to mark
renjun couldn't have died

"oh god, p-please tell me he isn't dead, p-please!"
"I-I don't know yet...We've been waiting here for an update, i got here not that long ago..."
haechan shakily confessed beginning to cry again
"We've!? Who else is there?"
"Jaemin, Na Jaemin he's the one who found renjun in his bathroom barely breathing!"
mark perfectly knew who jaemin was
he actually punched jaemin in the face for getting close to renjun not too long ago
"I'm heading over there, it's the local hospital right?"
