The bell finally rung signally my freedom. I fistpumped the air, gathered my books and practically ran out of class. It was Friday. Blairs birthday party which happened to be at to be the day of the Halloween Ball, was today and I couldn't wait. She had invited me over after school and I was meeting her in the parking lot. Sadly, my excitement was crushed when I collided with a wall and fell to the ground sending the books that I had gathered flying everywhere. I covered my head, expecting books and copies to come crashing down on top of me but they never came. Instead when I looked up from between my hands I was faced with an amazing sight. It turns out the wall had caught my books before they came tumbling down onto me and it also happened that just as luck would have it, the 'wall' I had crashed into was actually Blake frigging Crescent. And may I just say a frigging hot looking Blake Crescent. I shook my head. No Aimee that's disgusting. Bad thoughts.

To my complete and utter surprise he stook his hand out in front of him. I stared at his hand in disbelief, blinking several times, trying desperately to process what had just happened. He rolled his eyes and lifted up his hand.

"Hey Clutz this is a hand."

He said enthusiastically. It was like he was talking to a child. Which I was convinced he was after he used that nickname. I mean Clutz, seriously?!

"Usually people grab it when they are offered help to get up."

He continued. I huffed and stood up. What was wrong with this guy? He was so...so..ughhh. One minute he was smirking at me, then he was stomping away pissed off and now he is talking to me like a six year old. Bipolar much?

I narrowed my eyes at him before turning and walking away. I hadn't gotten very far when an arm was placed on my shoulders, hugging me into a body.I looked up and my eyes nearly popped out of my head. Blake?!

"So are you going to the ball tonight Clutz?"

"Yes I am. I'm going with Tyler."

He nodded to himself, smirking.

"Ahhh yeah your the one he wouldn't stop talking about-"

I just smiled, happy at the comment. But knowing Blake he couldn't say anything nice without saying something mean, depressing or scary.

"-of course, I don't see what all the hype is about but, hey, its Ty's choice."

I stared blankly at him. I knew he was going to say something like that but for some reason the words hit home. My wolf, for some unknown reason, whimpered inside me. His words hurt. And when I was sad or hurt I concealed the feelings with passionate anger and fearful rage.

"Oh yeah and Cathy is so much better? You are practically snogging the face off that Barbie 24/7. I wouldn't be surprised if you got an STD from just being around her."

The disgust in my voice surprised me. And apparently it took Blake off guard too. His once calm and collected features had morphed into a furious expression. His eyes were getting darker and his hands were twitching (now off of me).

"Do not disrespect me, pup. You find your place and stay in it unless you want to turn Rogue. I don't care about your background or position I will show no mercy."

He growled in a deep, husky voice. The voice sent shivers down my spine and my neck tingled. The amount of authority and danger in his voice scared me. I shyed away from him, bowing my head. Looking back at his eyes I recognised they were returning to their original colour. A worried look flashed across his face and he turned away quickly. What had just happened?? What was he saying?? Rogue?? Position?? Background?? I remember Aurelia telling me something about eyes changing colour when they were fighting with their wolf for control.Wait was he?? No he couldn't be... But he was wasn't he?!

"B..Blake?"

I stuttered. His head instantly snapped towards me. His gaze bore into me, making me shiver.

"What?!"

He bit out harshly, anger evident in his voice. What was wrong with him?? What did I do to make him this angry??

"Ar..are you a-"

"Aimee? Aimee!! There you are. Where have you- Oh!!"

Blair stopped talking as she noticed who was standing looking very pissed in front of me. Blake straightened up and looked into her eyes. She flinched and bent her head towards him. What was happening??

*Aimee I have something to tell you*

Aurelia's worried voice filled my head. I bit my lip. I had a bad feeling about this.

"Happy birthday Blair. Tell David the same."

Blake nodded towards Blair before turning to look at me.

"I'm sure we'll be seeing each other again soon Clutz."

And with that he strode away proudly. Blair looked at me with a cheeky smile before pulling me away towards the car. We got in and Blair got in the drivers seat. She hadn't even put the key in the ignition before she spun around to face me, smiling.

"Spill!"

She ordered, leaning on her hands to look up at me. I looked at her for a second before bursting out laughing. She looked at me like I was insane so I sobered up pretty quickly. And looked her straight in the eyes.

"Nothing happened. I bumped into him, literally. I fell onto the ground and he helped me up, still managing to be a dickhead at the same time."

"He's not really a dickhead. He may seem cold and unfriendly but really he is caring and kind. Things have happened him that barely anyone can say the same about themselves. Blake has built up his walls pretty high, but I know that if the right girl has the hammer, those walls will come crumbling down. His icy exterior is just a mask. People stay away from him because of it but those who have managed to break themselves a hole in his wall are both protected and cared for."

Blair spoke about him with such passion that my admiration and pity towards him couldn't help but grow. But one thing was still nagging at me...Was Blake really a werewolf??

"Hey Aimee."

"Hi Aimee "

"Ah hiya Aimee."

A chorus of greetings wafted around the room as I walked into Blairs house. I waved to them all before sitting down on the sofa.

"Okay, Amelia did you bring the costumes??"

"Of course I did."

Amelia placed five bags on the bed. Excitement bubbled up inside of me, making me giddy.

"Okay, first we will do our hair, then eat, then do our make up and then put on the costumes."

Blair announced, rather formally. We could all tell that she was trying to contain her excitement, but it was Blair. Staying calm was not in her vocabulary. We sat around talking before Blairs cousin Victoria arrived. She looked kinda funky. She wore neon lace over black tights with shorts and braces. Her hair was a chestnut brown colour, straightened so that it floated gracefully past her shoulders. She seemed so nice, yet I couldn't help but feel the slightest bit offended when she walked in saying.

"Hey pups."

Aurelia growled inside my head but I contained it, so nobody else heard it.

About an hour later I was standing in front of the mirror holding back tears. I was completely transformed. My hair was taken back, plaited and pinned to my head, I wore light silver eyeliner and had a soft grey smoky eye that sparkled slightly in the light. And the dress..wow... It was breathtaking. It was hard to get me into it but it will be impossible to get me out of it. The sleek flowing fabric made me look like I was flying on a cloud. I really did look like a goddess.

Nervously, I walked out of the en suite into Blairs bedroom and suddenly I was surrounded.
"OMG Aimee that's gorgeous on you!"
"Jealousy is an understatement hun"
"Three words Aims W-O-W"
"Uhm, Kimmy, wow is one word."
"..."
We all looked at Kim before bursting into laughter. We all gushed over each other's costumes before heading downstairs to meet Blairs mum.
"Oh girls, you all look gorgeous."
A chorus of "thank you" echoed from us as we were ushered out the door and into the hired limo on our way to the Halloween Ball.

***

We pulled up outside the ball and stepped out in pairs. I linked arms with Blair and we giggled our way over to the entrance.
"Ready or not?"
She started.
"Here we come!"
I said as we walked through the door and into the hall.

The instant stench of sweat hit my nostrils and I scrunched them up trying to avoid the disgusting smell. The atmosphere was great though. The music was pumping, people was chatting and laughing together and then downstairs on the dance floor you could see people having the time of their lives as they jumped around like idiots to the upbeat tunes blaring out from the DJ's speakers.

My eyes scanned the crowd but stopped when they connected with Tyler's. He looked confused as he looked back and forth but as soon as he seen me a smile pasted itself onto his face. He walked swiftly over to me having to stop once or twice to break up a make out session that stood in his way. When he finally reached me he just stood there and looked me up and down smiling.

"What?"
I asked giggling.
"You look...wow!"
"Ha thanks. You don't look too shabby yourself"
I joked.
"Let me guess your costume..are you a robber caus you just stole my heart"

I gave him a blank look at his attempt of flirting before bursting into laughter as he shifted awkwardly from foot to foot scratching the back of his neck nervously.

"As you can see I'm a penguin I guess I just thought I would-"
He winked at me before finishing
"-break the ice"

We laughed for a while longer before he excused himself to go get drinks for us. He had only just left when I felt a cool wind on the back of my neck and Aurelia started pouncing around my head. I didn't even get to ask her what was up when the person behind me spoke.

"Nice costume Clutz."

Rolling my eyes, I turned around to face Blake ready to blurt out a smart comment when my words caught in my throat. Every sane thought in my head suddenly dissapeared.

Blake had dressed up in a slick. black suit with a white shirt and tie and let me just say he looked goo-ood. Wait, what am saying no, no he didn't look good. I masked my face with an unimpressed expresion quirking one of my eyebrows upwards in a questioning look.

"And what are you dressed up as?"

I smirked at him as he plucked the collar, stood up straight crossing his arms and cocked his eyebrow to mirror my expression.

"The names Bond. James Bond."

He winked, a cheeky smile dancing on his face. It was like his cold exterior had melted. I liked it. We chatted for a while before I excused myself to go look for Tyler. He seemed to be taking quite a long time. I walked carefully down the stairs, careful not to trip over my dress or anybody elses for thhat matter. I got to the bottom of the stairwell and looked across for the bar. Great, just great I would have to go straight through the dancefloor which was flooded by God knows how many people.

I took a deep breath and stepped forward into the pool of sweaty bodies grinding together. Everybody was so densely packed together I felt claustraphobic. Finally, I had weaved my through all the party people only to find myself back at the stairwell. I huffed. Tonight was not going too well.

Then I seen it....

Oh I saw it...,

Tyler had a blonde girl pressed up against the balcony kissing her passionately. I swear the world froze. My eyes began to water and I could feel all the blood rush to my cheeks. Nobody knew what was happening yet this was the most embarrassed I had ever been. Realising I was just standing in the middle of the dancefloor staring up at the balcony, so I done what my body wanted to do ever since I lay my eyes on the pair.

I ran.

I ran straight through the crowds, up the stairs and out the doors into the nearby park where I proceeded to throw myself onto a park bench. I felt betrayed and hurt yet not a tear fell from my eyes. I wasn't sad about the whole situation and I wanted to know why. I knew I should feel sad. Hell, I should be balling my eyes out...but I'm not.

"Excuse me, Miss, is this seat taken?"

I looked up hastily, about to apologise to the person when I realised it was Blake.

"Oh, uhm no."

He nodded to himself before sitting down facing me. He was looking me straight in the eye as if he was trying to figure something out.

"What?"

I asked. But he simply smiled to himself, shaking his head and turning to look off into space.

"No, what is it?"

Wow, he must really think I'm a mess. He laughed out a hearty laugh, contagious, it was the type laugh that you could easily find yourself laughing along with him. But I didn't laugh, instead I sent him a questioning look which resulted in him sending me his signature breath-taking smirk. God, what had gotten into me? I sounded like a love sick teenager.

"Your not a mess, don't worry. But, if you were I'd say you would be a pretty hot mess."

And then the most frightening and unexpected thing happened...

Blake leant forward...
