(Joseph’s POV)

Watching Asurah trying to converse with people was...amusing. He kept glancing at me as if he were silently begging me to shoot him in the head, with which I responded with a wink, making him furrowed his brows in confusion. And it was weird, knowing how powerful this man...this creature was, who didn’t even understand the concept of flirting. It gave him a certain...innocence that most people of power didn’t have. It was actually refreshing, seeing him getting all confused when I said something he didn’t understand. Like the thong thing. The guy was really wearing a thong with a sheer skirt-like thing, and yet, I doubted he even knew what I had been talking about. Maybe they called it something different on Glacion? Who knew?

Although, I still couldn’t quite get my mind off of the incident earlier, where that huge dude tried bullying Asurah. Like, what was this, Middle School? Seriously? Though, with the gleam in the dude’s eyes, I could tell that there was more behind the harsh words, and name calling. The guy actually had a hardcore crush on the albino king. It was also very different here than on Earth, regarding this. For instance, I saw multiple female creatures kissing on other female creatures, without a care. Men also had male dates, and it was amazing how open the galaxy was. Earth was still in its awful close minded state, and it was hard living as a Pansexual military man. It was hard trying to wash up after long hours of training, only to be mocked by the other male cadets, claiming that I was watching them perversely in the showers. Ha. As if. None of them really were that good-looking, to tell you the truth. Though, it still pissed me off how the humans didn’t get that we were born that way. So coming to this ball thing, and seeing many male/male, female/female couples, actually made me kind of happy. And I was more relaxed than I had ever been in all my thirty three years of life.

I ended up snapping out of my thoughts when I caught sight of Asurah’s bully, Del-pickle whatever. He was making his way over to me, making me tense up for a fight. However, he didn’t attack me like I thought he would. Instead, he stood next to me, leisurely sipping out of a weirdly designed wine glass. His red eyes watched Asurah with interest, making a weird feeling settle in my chest.

“He is not for you, you know. He is too beautiful to be associated with something as ugly as you.”

I raised an eyebrow, glancing up at him as he turned those crimson eyes towards me. “Oh? I thought he was an, and I quote, “painted doll”? Let’s not forget that you called him ugly, either.”

The redhead scoffed, curling his top lip to reveal two sharp fangs, similar to what a vampire’s would look like. “You would not understand, human. We live in a world where weakness is death. If I show my weakness for Asurah, the jealous kings and queens would use him against me and end up killing me. This will allow them to easily steal my world, and entrap my people.”

“So you resort to middle school tactics?”

“I don’t even know what that is.”

“Really? Gosh, you’re just as naive as Asurah is. Though, he makes his nativity a form of art.” I pursed my lips and crossed my arms over my chest, cocking my hip to the side in order to shift my weight. “So, does Asurah know you like him?”

The other man scrunched up his nose, his brows scrunching together. “Of course not. It is as you said, he is naive and knows not a thing about romance. I hear he is still as pure as the day his mother birthed him. He has never been touched by another, and it is his innocence and purity that I envy.”

“Yeah, he really is, something else.” I muttered, glancing over to the man in question, watching as he nodded every so often to what was said to him. He looked absolutely stunning in his outfit, though. I doubt I ever seen a man pull off what he could pull off. His body was literally the perfect balance between thin and leanly muscled. Plus, even a fool would take notice of his wide hips, and lucious backside. Like seriously. That guy had a butt that could put most of them female Instagram models to shame. Not...that I was noticing those kinds of things.

Gosh I was stupid. Here I was actually admiring him, even though I couldn’t let myself get too close. If I got too close, I probably wouldn’t be able to go through with the mission, and who knows what General Issak would do to my mother. I couldn't let that happen. My mother was the only family I had left in this world, the only person who stood by my side while others mocked me for my preferences. I couldn’t let her get hurt because I got attached to the same alien I was supposed to bring back. As much as I would hate myself once the job was done, I still had to do it. I had to complete this mission whether guilt wracked my subconscious or not.

“I will kill you if you do try to become intimate with him. He is mine, and mine alone.”

The sound of McDouche’s voice knocked me out of my thoughts, making me glare up at him as he gave me a look that promised death. “You wouldn’t do crap to me. Because, if you do” I gestured over to where Asurah stood, scrunching his nose after he took a sip of his drink, “you will upset Asurah, and I’m sure it will eat you up inside, knowing that he’s upset at you for hurting me.”

“You are the most insufferable being I have ever had the displeasure of knowing.”

I smirked, watching as the other man’s glare deepened. “The feeling is mutual.” He then walked off, leaving me standing next to the fountain before I turned, watching as Asurah walked up to me, his eyes on the other dude’s retreating form.

“What did he say to you? He didn’t threaten you, did he? Because if he did, I’m going to tear him a new orifice.” He turned those white eyes towards me and I shrugged, stuffing my hands into my pockets.

“Nah, he was just being moody. Kind of like a teenager. And a dog. Acts all gruff n’ tough, but he’s all bark and no bite.”

Asurah’s brows furrowed, confusion pinching his features before he sighed and sat down on the fountain’s edge, twirling his drink around his fingers. “This entire party sucks. It’s filed with people I dislike...Delkele, for example. Plus, the drinks are absolutely abhorable.” He glanced down at his glass, which housed a very nasty green looking liquid. “I probably shouldn’t be drinking this. Too much alcohol.” He stared at his drink for a couple more seconds before he shrugged and took another sip, his features pinching as he swallowed the liquid. “Utterly disgusting.”

“Then why the heck are you still drinking it?” I asked dryly, giving him a look of amusement.

Asurah gave me a droll stare. “Because it gives me something to do. Like, how someone will fiddle with their sleeves, or bite their lip, or things like that. My weird habit is drinking things, and playing with beads. I sometimes play with my hair too, but it’s not loose right now so drinking it is.” He paused and looked up at me, tilting his head to the side, his braid nearly in the water. “You know...I never really thanked you properly for defending me. Delkele is quite rude when he’s around me, and it was nice to have someone put him in his place for once. Even if I wasn’t the one to do it myself.”

I shrugged, taking a seat next to him and moving his braid over the shoulder so it didn’t get soaked from the water. “You don’t have to thank me. The guy was a jerk and I don’t really like jerks. Especially the ones that pick on you for just simply being there.”

“He wasn’t always like that. When we were younger, he was actually quite nice. Our fathers were best friends, so we often visited their planet to hang out, and talk. Delkele and I would often play hide and seek in the castle, although, I sucked badly at it.” He chuckled softly, his eyes glazed over as if he were reliving the memory. He took another sip of his...alcoholic beverage, and continued where he left off. “It wasn’t until our teenage years, when he started distancing himself from me. He would no longer play hide and seek with me, and he hardly ever talked to me. He would start calling me names...which...admittedly hurt, seeing as at the time I had a very limited amount of friends, and then once my mother and father died, we stopped seeing each other altogether. I had lost another friend, and I had...have no idea why.” He then looked at me with such sad eyes, it made my heart clench painfully. “Am I that bad of a friend to have?”

I shook my head, patting him on his knee. “No. You’re a wonderful person, Asurah, one of the best people I’ve met in a long time, actually. Besides, I’m pretty sure Delkele has a reason for leaving you like that. Granted, it’s not the best way of going about things, but he does have a reason.”

Asurah smiled softly at me, making my heart clench in my chest. He then hiccuped, blushing red as he quickly covered his mouth with his hand. His body shook again as he hiccuped again, and I couldn’t help but laugh at the distressed look on his face. He placed his glass between his knees and wacked me in the chest with his hand, making me wince at the force behind it. He may look small, but damn if he didn’t have some strength to him.

“Asurah, I think we should get you home.”

Asurah blinked and moved his hand from his lips. “W-hic! Why?”

I snorted and helped him stand up, watching as he wobbled slightly. Why I’ll be damned. It seemed like someone was under the influence of alcohol. I didn’t even think that other creatures from different planet could even experience what a lot of us lonely humans do. It was quite interesting, and...quite adorable watching as Asurah tried desperately to stop hiccuping.

“Wh-hic! What’s happe-hic! What’s happening to me? Hic!”

I raised my eyebrows, not being able to contain it as the laughter escaped me, making Asurah look at me incredulously. When I sobered, I looked at him and took his drink from him, gulping the rest of it and scrunching up my nose at the sheer intensity of it. I sat the drink down, and grabbed onto his upper arm, leading him to the exit.

“Well? What -hic- is wrong -hic with me?”

I looked at him and snorted, amazed by his innocence. “Well, Asurah, you’re drunk.”(Joseph’s POV)
