"You did what?!" Haewon practically screeched, the boys wincing at the volume of her voice.
"'M sorry, Eomma," Yoongi mumbled, looking to his father for support, growing nervous at the stern look on his face.
"It was my fault, Auntie," Jimin sighed. "I was the one who suggested it."
"What were you thinking, trying to have sex in a classroom?" Jiyeon shook her head, looking upset. "You're lucky you were only suspended for a week."
Yoongi glanced at Jimin nervously.
"What?" Jiyeon frowned. "Was it-- was it not just a week? Jimin, were you lying to me?"
The five of them sat in the Kim's living room, not more than two hours after they'd been caught in the classroom by a teacher. The two had been taken to the principal's office immediately, and received a long speech on why they shouldn't be touching each other at school-- or at all.
The man cleared his throat uncomfortably when bringing up the subject of the two of them being together, clearly homophobic, doing his best to politely let them know that homosexuality was wrong and that they should stop doing such things together.
Of course, Jimin had to get angry. Of course, he had to yell at the principal, of course he had to insist that the principal was wrong.
And of course, he got suspended for an extra three days for insubordination.
"W-well--"
"The principal was being an homophobic asshole and Jiminie got mad at him," Yoongi said before adding in a small voice, "Jimin told him that he loved me, and the principal got mad at him because he'd been going on for a good ten minutes about why we shouldn't be together."
"Oh," Haewon said, frowning. "We need to go talk to him."
"Wonnie, he's not going to budge, you and I both know that," Sungmin sighed.
"That's not the only problem here," Jiyeon reminded them. "You both won't be going to school for the next week, which means you'll be home--" Then she paused. "If they were caught about to have sex in a classroom, then why the hell did they get suspended? Wouldn't they just . . . not go to school? How is that even a punishment?"
"I don't know." Sungmin hesitated before looking at Yoongi. "You both aren't really being punished by being suspended, so we'll-- we'll have to ground you, Yoongi."
"You too, Jimin," Jiyeon said. "What you both did obviously wasn't okay."
Haewon nodded in agreement. "You both should've known better."
"Sorry," Yoongi mumbled again. "Won't happen again, promise."
"That means no visiting each other until your suspension is over," Haewon said, sighing to herself as Yoongi's eyes grew wide and glossy.
"The-- the entire time?"
Jimin looked at Yoongi apologetically. "It'll be over before you know it, Yoon."
"But--"
"Yoongi," Jiyeon sighed. "It's just a week."
Yoongi wanted to cry. It would be a week. Just a week, he told himself.

Not even a day had passed, and Yoongi was curled up in his old bed in the Kim's house at night, sniffling as he texted Jimin. For whatever reason, they hadn't taken his phone. Yoongi was thankful for that.

baby yoon:
i'm sorry if i'm bothering you, jimin
do you want me to stop texting you right now? i'm kind of tired anyway
Yoongi's bottom lip wobbled, eyes welling with tears.
jiminie oppa:

jiminie oppa:

and i mean sneak over, not kick my ass
Yoongi giggled at that before realizing he wasn't alone, looking over to Taehyung to check if he was still awake. He was curled up in his own bed, fast asleep.
Yoongi wasn't going to be able to sleep anytime soon.
baby yoon:
jimin?
jiminie oppa:
yes?
baby yoon:
i can't sleep :,(
jiminie oppa:
one second
Yoongi nearly jumped as his phone began to vibrate.
jiminie oppa
"H-hello?"
"Hey, Yoon."
Yoongi blushed. Jimin's voice was deeper than normal, huskier, as if he'd just woken up.
"Did I wake you up when I started texting you?"
"Maybe," Jimin admitted.
"I'm sorry," Yoongi frowned. "You should probably go to sleep then, it's late. Well-- early."
"'S okay, I wanted to hear your voice anyway."
"Oh," Yoongi mumbled, chewing idly on his bottom lip. "So how was your day?"
"Same as yours," Jimin sighed. "Boring, I didn't do much. Eomma was out with Soojin auntie, so I was home alone with nothing to do."
Yoongi hummed in reply.
"Jimin?"
"Hmm?"
"I was thinking today . . ."
"About what?"
"We've never talked about what we're going to do after high school," Yoongi mumbled. "I don't— I don't know what you want to do after high school. I don't even know what I want to do after high school. Or where we might go for college, whether we'll even go to the same college . . ."
He heard Jimin let out a small sigh. "I don't know, Yoon. I don't like this, the fact that things have to change."
"The school year's almost over," Yoongi smiled sadly. "We have another year before high school's over. Things will have to change."
"What do you plan on doing, Yoongi?"
"Something that doesn't involve math," the older said, "or art. Something creative, maybe?"
"You write well," Jimin said, "Maybe an author?"
Yoongi cracked a smile. "Or a photographer?"
"Or you could become a chef! You'd make a fantastic cook."
"Shut up!" Yoongi laughed. "What about you, Jiminie, what do you want to do?"
"Music," Jimin said easily, "or dance. Still not sure, but recently I've been leaning towards music. Maybe not a producer, but-- I don't know, singing?"
Yoongi was surprised by how quickly Jimin answered, as if he'd already thought a lot about it. It made him feel . . . weird. "I didn't even know you were into dancing . . . or music at all," Yoongi mumbled. How could he not have known?
"Right," Jimin chuckled sheepishly. "I sing a little, but I'm not— I'm not good or anything. It's a stupid idea, honestly."
"No, don't say that," Yoongi frowned, "If you think it'll make you happy, then you should do it."
"Thanks, Yoongs."
"Jimin?"
"Hmm?"
"Could I hear your voice?"
"What do you mean? I'm talking to you right now."
"No, I mean— sing me something, please? I've-- I've never heard you sing."
"I can't sing, Yoongs," Jimin mumbled. "I sound like crap."
"You always say that."
"Because it's true!"
"Please?"
There was a silence.
He began to sing, his voice quiet and timid, crackling slightly through the phone speaker. Yoongi wasn't sure what the younger was singing; it must've been in English.
But shitty English never sounded so good.
Jimin's voice was higher than he'd imagined, but it was so, so pretty, his voice mellow and dreamy. Yoongi knew that if he was tired enough, Jimin's soothing voice, no doubt, would've lulled him to sleep.
He sounded like an angel.
"You fucking liar."
Yoongi knew he was addicted to that honey sweet-sounding voice of Jimin's. He knew he wanted to hear more.
Jimin chuckled at that, clearing his throat quietly.
"Your voice is so pretty, Chim, why don't you sing more often?" Yoongi pouted. "I never get to hear you."
"I— I don't know, it's not that I'm shy . . . but it's scary, singing for other people."
"Even me?"
"A little," Jimin admitted.
"You sound beautiful," Yoongi said in a hushed voice, "Will I ever get to hear more?"
"Maybe," the younger said, and Yoongi could hear the smile in his voice. "Maybe I'll just sing you to sleep."
"Really?" the older grinned, pulling his covers over himself and snuggling into his pillow.
"A lullaby for my baby," Jimin smiled before whispering into the phone, "I love you, Yoongi. I'll never stop loving you, no matter where we may end up in the future, no matter where we decide to go and what we end up doing. I'll always love you. I promise."
"Me too, Jimin," Yoongi said softly. "Don't worry, the future is a while away. We've got time."
It seems as though time only really moves quickly when you want it to stop.
<3
you guys.
i'm going to do something risky.
and i'm really, really hoping i won't regret it.
there's going to be a time skip.
